Meh, if your going down the Devil Driver path there are a lot better melodic deathmetal bands. Like In Flames. Muse is awesome. Stockholm Syndrome is one of my favorite songs ever. Hollywood Undead is too... pop rock faddy for me. Rise Against's old stuff is better than their new stuff, but their new stuff is still really good.

Old artists... there are too many. Besides the ones you named there.
Boston, Journey, Foreigner, Jethro Tull, Kansas, Led Zeplin (Definitely Zeplin), Rush, Rat, Van Halen, Black Sabath.

Oh, and if there's metal on your iPod you NEED, and I can not stress how serious I am when I say need, to have Pantera on there. Vulgar Display of Power, their second album, opened my eyes. Pantera's first two or three albums are what metal should be. After that their vocalist just starts loosing it because he was abusing Heroin. But... if you wanna learn the bands story, every tragic detail of it, then you can do that on your own.
