"Shouldn't be. Arizona doesn't get snowmelt." Maia leaned over to kiss Toby's cheek. "I'll go get changed," she said. She headed towards the changing rooms, swimsuit in hand.
Luca still seemed hesitant. He looked from Lori, to the water, and back to Lori. "No I'd really rather--" He took Lori's hand and leaned over to whisper, "I can't swim."
Cody followed Dari happily. "Did you try it on?" He asked.

Lori's brows shot up. Couldn't swim? Well it wasn't like there were many safe lakes in the wilds of Ireland, were there? He'd been raised half as a human himself so swimming had just been something you learned how to do.
"We won't go deep," he said finally, voice still low, "And you can hold onto me." Why was it so charming that Luca couldn't swim?
Dari shook his head. "No. Are they not as basic as I think?" He still was getting used to having male anatomy and all that and these seemed to have a...sling in them? "I should be alright."

"Alright," Luca agreed. He gave Lori a grateful smile, and then hugged him.
"The sizing is sometimes really off," Cody said. "It varies by brand. You should be, though. There might be a tie on them."

Lori hugged Luca back with a big smile on his face. "Come on, let's go change."
"Oh," Dari said, and then he disappeared into a stall behind the curtain. There was rustling, and then the sound of footsteps. "Nah, it fits. It always seems weird trying things like this on before you buy it." In fact he felt a little cute in his swim shorts.
Lori got to the changing room and clucked his tongue at Dari. "No skinny-dipping? Tsk. You guys are no fun." Then he disappeared behind another one of the curtains.

Luca followed Lori and smiled, going to find a stall. He quickly changed into his swim trunks, and for the first time that day he was glad he'd brought them.
Cody sputtered at Lori's words, eyes widening slightly. Skinny dipping?!

Lori snickered at the sound Cody made. Dari just reached for his hand.
"He's teasing you," Dari said. And from the sound Lori had made, he presumably enjoyed the reaction.

Cody visibly relaxed. "Oh," he said, "I knew that." He squeezed Dari's hand and then released it, going to change.
Luca emerged, and he was grinning.

"Your fiance is causing trouble," Dari told Luca. Lori emerged then too and chuckled.
"He's cute," he said.
"He can hear you."
"I know."

"He's always causing trouble," Luca said, tutting and looking to Lori. He gave him a teasing-stern look and shook his head.
"Am not!" Cody protested. He changed and emerged, looking to Dari. "Ready?"

Dari tutted back and shook his head, then laughed when Cody shouted back. Good! So he wasn't uncomfortable! Dari couldn't be sure if the compliment was just a tease or a test as well, but either way Cody had passed. He waited with the others until Cody was finished and began walking back with them to the lake.
"Let me see," he said, holding out a hand to take Lori's. For a moment the elf seemed confused, and then offered his hand or, more specifically, the finger his ring lay around. "It's beautiful," Dari said.
"Thank you. He picked it out." Lori nodded back toward Luca.
Back on the beach, Toby and Maia were already approaching the water. Toby got a running start, splashed in a ways, and then dove into the deeper end. Lori took Luca's hand and gave it a little squeeze.

That seemed to remind Cody of something. He looked to Dari's hand. "Aren't you worried you'll lose it in the water?" he asked. It was obviously special to Dari; he'd never seen the guy without it and they'd been dating over a month now.
Maia dove in after Toby, trying to catch up.
"Its his favorite color," Luca said, happily. He followed Lori back to the beach. "Shallow end for us, then?"

"Sure. Come on," Lori said as he waded in. The shallow end for them was still a deep end for some. Lori continued in to about his chest and then turned around. Was this okay?
Dari looked down at his ring and thought about how bad it would be if it fell off in the water. f it was enchanted, was it enchanted to stay on well? He was pretty sure they'd just has a craftsman whittle it down to size. He shrugged.
"Well, I'd rather not take it off. It's never fallen off before." Hopefully water wasn't just the lubricant it needed.

Luca followed Lori into the water, he was definitely hesitating now. His steps were slow and unsure. "There aren't lakes like this, where I'm from. Just rivers and places where the creatures would much rather eat you than let you swim."
"Toby, we aren't racing!" Maia laughed as she caught up to him. She wrapped her arms around him. "It's nice to swim again. We haven't since fall!"
As he'd expected, the ring was special. "It must be lucky," Cody said. "You were wearing it the day you met me."

Lori nodded. "I know. If you slip, though, I promise to not eat you."
Toby smiled as he emerged and turned his head to kiss Maia's arm. "Well not everyone can put on inches of blubber and fur when ever they want," he teased, and then began toting her around as usual. "I did miss it, though. We'll have to take the boat out soon."
"Actually, it's aventurine," Dari said with a grin, "So it is." Supposedly, anyway. That was what the gem lady had told them, and Maia besides. He didn't want to sound like some sort of hippie, but hey, supposedly it was lucky. He started into the water, and he felt cold for a moment, and it was fantastic. He reached out a hand for Cody, still grinning.

Luca made his way to Lori. He kissed his cheek and grinned. "I think cannibalism is still looked down upon," He said. "I'll give It a shot. What do I do?"
"It'd be harder to tease you if you could," Maia said. "Swim with me to that end?" she pointed to the buoy marking the end of the swim area.
"Really? I've never understood meanings behind gems. I went into a store once there were these signs that said these crystals were for relaxing and others were for calming. That's pretty neat. Was it a gift?" He took Dari's hand and waded in, shivering.
