Isi blinked stupidly as he was suddenly enveloped in the warm hug of the crying Namini. What happened?! He thought in bewilderment. She tripped, woke Eiry up who was too tired to even give a care, and...Now she was crying. Isi felt horrible, in a way, but in the other way he felt utterly and entirely confused. He allowed the hug and he lightly patted her back before she sat back down again. This wasn't the first time that people had come up to him and given him hugs. In fact, it happened all the time back at the adoption agency, before Old Maasi came. Now, he had to admit that it was rather surprising. It hadn't happened in so long, that he forgot how to respond.
"Uh...Of course," he blurted, hoping he said something he was supposed to say. He quickly stuffed his mouth with ice cream.

Seeming as if nothing had happened, Namini hadn't felt terrible for being a clumsy idiot again and Isi wasn't utterly confused, she asked boldly, "How's your life been?" If a person hadn't already been irritated by her sheer digusting cheerfulness, they would soon be irritated by her tactless series of questions. Namini scooped out some banana and vanilla ice cream, shivering pleasantly as she ate it. For someone with a pretty matured body, she seemed to have the personality of a little child...and the attention span of one.

"You don't want to know. How about yours?" Isi asked, sounding completely bright and happy when he said it. He answered this purposefully so that she wouldn't pause and drill him for more information. If he sounded sad she would definitely know that something was up. And Isi wasn't ready to list off his own personal list of unfortunate events. Isi seemed to be the complete opposite of her, a young boy with the mind and personality of an adult.

Hearing Isi sound much cheerier Namini broke out into an ear-to-ear smile, laughing softly. Like Isi had planned, she was unsuspicious to his dark past and continued to ramble on about herself. Playfully tapping the spoon against her lips, she seemed to pause and actually plan out what she was going to say. After a light moment or two, she snapped, seeming to have found the switch that activated the lightbulb in her mind.
"My mother died in a car accident when I was pretty young and for a long time I was deeply depressed. I may not be very bright when it comes to complex things but I can understand emotions pretty well, or at least my brother David tells me." Oddly enough, for explaining her dreary background, Namini's voice was dripping with content and she wasn't even tearing up. She took another bite of ice cream and banana. "Isi, you don't seem like the kind of person who falls for bad things like attempting suicide or anything, so you're lucky. During my depression I went after everything and anything that reminded me of my mother, including myself! -she seemed to even have the nerve to add excitement to her voice-
She was my everything. But after I hurt everyone I loved and myself, I realized that my mother would not have been happy with me..let alone proud. So I stopped and tried to better myself and, with the help from David..here I am! I'm a happy-go-lucky part time worker and a student at East Durem High School! The end~"
Namini turned to Isi without even the slightest indication of a tear or frown. Simply sunshine. Ironic.

Listening to her tale, Isi spooned bits and pieces of the ice cream into his mouth. He then got to the banana by the time she finished her story. Unlike other people who might have teared up themselves at the unfortunate past of this poor your lady, Isi was surprisingly dry-eyed and unmoved. It wasn't because he was heartless or anything, unfeeling, cold, callous (well, maybe a little, but the reason's obvious), it was rather...Well, he had heard it all before to be completely honest. Living at the adoption center and living with Old Maasi could turn anyone's heart into stone. Tragic tales like these were a hefty serving along with every morning's breakfast pudding and orphaned kids were often being switched in an out so the stories never got stale. It was always some kid who's parents couldn't afford them, some kid who's parents died, or some kid who ran away from abusive parents. Isi was at this adoption center for a couple years and he had his fair share of living nightmares and heart-rendering life-tales. To him, his life was a collection of everything some other person had to offer. So Namini's tale didn't really have an affect on him at all.
With another swallow, Isi finally commented, "That's good to hear. It's good that you've got back on track. Do you want this strawberry?"

Namini, if it were possible, brightened and nodded, taking the strawberry gently and popping it into her mouth. And just like that, another question developed in her mind. Tracing back to the little tid bits in their random discussions, Namini suddenly remembered a question that screamed for answers. Now seemed like the perfect opportunity to her, though to others it would actually be the worst moment. Quickly gathering up the courage to ask Isi, though she feared that he would retort at her once again, she piped up nervously,
"Isi...do you mind if I ask...um..what's wrong with your legs?" Again, another foolish and rude question.

Isi sighed, forcibly holding back the snappy response he would've given had he not been aware of his surroundings. Looking away, he fiddled the plastic spoon and sirred up some of the ice cream as a diversion. "They're..." Isi began slowly with a tense voice, "They're weak. Very weak. I can't walk or stand on them on my own for very long. I use forearm crutches. They're right there...Where Eiry is so conveniently sleeping on." He gestured weakly with his elbow towards the titanium crutches on the grass. Eiry's ribbon was curled up around one and it didn't look like the sleeping raevan minded it much. "That was a good banana boat. Thank you very much for splitting it with me. I was getting hungry."

Namini attempted to release a soft "Oh.." as her eyes lingered on the crutches beneath Eiry, but held her tongue, for something was telling her that if she even sounded pitiful or worried, Isi would decide that he didn't like her anymore. Instead, placing her hand on top of the other she dug her nails into the flesh as an action of restrainment and she sat quietly for several moments, her mind in an ultimate mess. He's not some stray that you just think is sad but in a cute way, Namini! You gotta try and be nice. Think think! Closing her eyes tightly, she took a huge risk by abruptly admitting,
"At least people can count on you! You're strong, smart and a nice person! I mean at least ..." she stopped as she switched her hands and continued clawing away at her own flesh. Her eyes darted from her lap to the ground beside her, making sure not even to gaze in Isi's general direction. "At least..you're not a clumsy, simple minded bimbo like me," she half-heartedly laughed, her face distorted in a mixture of embarrassment and what seemed to be a confused happiness.
Greeeeattt. If you cry again, you should just leave. she told herself as her blinked several times to try and avoid pushing the growing tears from her eyes.

Junsu He extended a polite hand to Natsuki, giving her his most charming smile. "The pleasure is all mine." "Sorry to keep you waiting, Junsu," Natsuki said, taking out a folding fan, and fanning herself slowly. She tried to keep the persperation from returning, but it was simply too hot. When he winked at her, a brow arched with interest. It had been a while since a guy was outwardly flirty with her, but for some reason, she figured that with Junsu, it was merely a natural response to her feisty personality. Taking his hand in hers, she firmly, yet elegantly shook his hand. "Let's go enjoy the festival, shall we?"
She remembered seeing a pretty girl on Junsu's arm, even from all the way up on the stage, so Natsuki made it a point not to slip her arm into his like she would We'rika or her other guy friends. A cooling summer breeze grazed over her skin, cooling it gently.
"Thanks for bidding in the auction, Junsu. Thanks to your help, the Lab's just got a little closer to their reconstruction goal." Natsuki said sincerely, turning her stormy, charismatic eyes to the young man. Pointing at a booth nearby, Natsuki figured she'd start their date on something low-key, shopping. If Junsu had a girlfriend, he'd be used to shopping dates. Even though she didn't have a boyfriend, Natsuki wanted to do both parties a favor and not throw any mixed signals. "Mind if we hit the garage sale booth, Junsu? I hear there's some funky stuff up for grabs."

Letting a laugh burst from his lips, Isi leaned back in the chair to control his laughter as if he just experienced the after force of a great explosion. Turning to Namini he chuckled even more and brushed the grey brown hair from his stormy eyes, "Thanks for the kind words, Namini, I only wish they were half true!" But when Namini went and spoiled it by comparing herself with him...Isi's mirth died like a moth incinerating itself on a bug zapper. He had seen so many people crumble before, seen so many people get crushed by life and it usually started with those words. Isi was tired of hearing them, tired of pity, grief, and remorse. Especially when it was a person saying it about themselves. He set his eyes stern on her, "Namini, that is your first mistake. That's why you get sad. Don't compare yourself to others. No one can compare to an other. We're all different. Comparing yourself to an other will only make you disappointed. That's the truth, we're better than another in some ways but you forget that you're so much better than us. Don't compare yourself. Don't do it. It'll only leave you feeling miserable. As long as you don't compare yourself, you'll find yourself that much happier. You're blind to the good inside you. Go look in the mirror and find that good, bring it out, revel in it, let it be your support. Then you will never break again. Understand, Namini? Do you hear me?"

Namini stared at Isi intensely for a long time, her blank expression giving no hint if she understood what he had told her or if her mind was drifting again. Unsure exactly at what had sent the sudden cheery Isi to become a mature, adult-like figure, Namini nodded though it was with great hesitation and slight confusion. Suddenly, her eyes teared up again and she tried to smile but her lips were quivering and it was an impossibility for her.
"Isi..do you... hate me now? she mewed softly. Oh god. It seemed that Namini's mask had been broken and doubt and negativity had seeped through the cracks.

"Hate you? Why would I hate you? I've only just met you! Namini, if I had hated you, you'd know it. I'd be the first one to voice my hatred for someone and obviously, I have not done so for you," Isi said, giving an exasperated sigh. He raked his hand through his hair again. It looks like he's lost his touch since the adoption center. Usually he'd be able to make someone feel better, but this was obviously not the case. Well, who could he blame? He was a fourteen year old with the attitude of an adult! Turning back to her and giving the look of an adult would give to a youngster, the one where his eyes were soft and mute, his brows gently raised and his mouth pulled into a tight line, Isi shook his head, "I don't hate you. I just think you could be so much better if you didn't think so badly of yourself and everything and everybody around you all the time. I haven't known you for long, but that's what I'm feeling."

Junsu grinned back at Natsuki, and politely led the way. "Of course I don't mind at all, m'dear. By the way, you can just call me Jun for short."
Oh, how this all seemed so familiar for him! He was somewhat reminded of the Win-A-Date Contest his band had held not too long ago. Jae hadn't participated, but he remembered the experience. It felt similar to this, but yet....this felt better.
Walking up towards the garage sale booth, his eye immediately caught on a few funky items. "Wow! Funky was a good word. Talk about a selection!" he hummed pleasantly.

On the other side of the carnival, Jae patted Lorenzo one last time on the head, lovingly of course. "Sorry little prince, but I must be off." she pouted, hanging on to his little hand as though she were reluctant to let go.
She felt a little free, now that Jun wasn't around. Oh, yes, sure, she was slightly upset, but she knew that he'd be perfectly fine. And so would she, actually. If anything, nothing was worse, or funnier, than seeing fangirls attempt to assault Jun or her brother. Natsuki seemed like a fine person for Jun to meet and hang out with. Hopefully, they'd find something in common to enjoy.
"Bye Alex, I'll see you around!" she grinned, waving good-bye for the time being. She'd stop by her booth again later, but she suddenly remembered that she hadn't really had a chance to return Ravi's greeting from earlier.

The woman laughed pleasantly, staying still long enough that Lorenzo could impart his woe at being left behind with a Gwee-like pout and a soft chitter. "He likes you," Alex mused, continuing to pet the sleeping cat in her arms. Zoe liked women in general, but he seemed to like Jae in a more friendly manner rather than a curious one.
"Have fun Jae, it was nice to meet you and Jun! Enjoy the festival." She gave a little wave and a smile, pleased to have met such pleasant people. The woman had been worried that everyone would be crass and unfriendly due to the heat, but in this instant, she liked being wrong. "Bye!" Alex returned to her station, sitting down and shifting Fangs slightly on her bosom, relaxing in a comfortable and lazy manner.
"Ai," Lorenzo echoed his master sagely, as if his one quipped word was what they had all been waiting for. Once Jae was off towards the other two-leggers, the Gwee glided off of Alex's shoulders to rest once more in the shade. It was time to resume being mad at his human for having the cat.

She stared dumbfounded at Isi, half of her mind in awe that such wise, soothing words were coming from someone who appeared to be a year or two younger than herself...and yet the other half of her mind wished Isi was older so his adult personality would be more reasonable. And also so that... Namini felt an appreciative smile crawl onto her lips and she couldn't help but let out a calmed laugh. Her smile spread as did a small pinkness onto her cheeks.
"Thank you for being such a caring person Isi," she purred genuinely before returning to her previous excited state. "You'll turn into a great adult one day! Yeah Isi, believe it! You'll be even smarter and cooler and ...smarter than you are now and and, once you find that lucky girl, you'll rule the world!" And thus Namini's love for cartoons shined through.
