"I'll stay. But don't hesitate to tell me if you want to leave." Richard surprised himself when he kissed her forehead; he didn't know what made him do it, but it just felt like the right thing to do. He gave her a smile before leading her back to where he thought Dom was building the bonfire.

Violet smiled faintly, blushing as he kissed her. Richard could always make her feel better, most of the time without putting in any effort. With the boost to her confidence she walked with Richard back to Dom and his bonfire, the small smile still on her face.

Richard climbed back up the dune with Violet in tow, looking around for where Dom so. Maybe they could building the fire....

Dom smiled as he saw Richard and Violet. He called out to them, "Hey! Over here!" Dom had moved the bonfire down off the dunes. He saw that Violet had looked better and he smiled. He was happy that she felt better. He didn't want any tension between any of them at the fire. He'd stacked the wood into a standing tee-pee kinda of shape and lit it. The fire went ablaze rather quickly. Good thing its in a 2 foot pit...He thought. He started bringing over excess wood and stones over and set them around the firepit as benches. He sat down on a stone and started to think. I know what I did to Violet was wrong all those years ago, it's time I set it right. After some talking and what not, I'm going to apologize to her. Yeah! With newfound confidence, Dominic looked into the fire with a smile and a good thought.

Richard waved back to Dom before heading in his direction. When he finally got there, he took a seat on one of the large rocks Dom had managed to find and sighed happily. The heat was welcome considering the chill that was now permeating the night air.
"So what've you been doing all evening?"

Jesper rubbed his arm and looked at the picture. There was a lot of change in her. No sign of the vest he brought her But he still recognised the familiar forceful kindness. And there was that same ability to say energised talking to him. He had stopped smiling like that and let his brow piercings heal up. The death of his friend had affected him deeply. Still, he was glad to have her back, even if she didnt seem comfortable with being his girlfriend anymore. He let his hand inch towards her.

Dom looked up and smiled. "What does it look like?" He asked jokingly. "I've been setting up..." He trailed off. "...And thinking. But I'll get back to that later." He got up and took a bag of marshmellows and some skewers off a log near him. "I got these outta my car. The mellow's are still good. They don't expire for another couple of months." He put one on a skewer and stuck it near the fire roasting it. "Nothing like hanging with friends, roastin some marshmellows on an open bonfire, under the stars near the beach. Romantic and just an overall great way to hang with friends."

Rosalee spotted Jesper's hand slowly getting closer to her, but said nothing in response. Instead, she leaned her head against his shoulder, still looking at the picture. "Ye'll get through this," she said softly. "I'll help ye through it if ye'll let me..."

Richard declined the marshmallows and skewer; he was never a big fan of them. "You're not wrong about that," he said with a smile. "But what brought you back here? I mean...what have you been doing with your life since you left?"

Dom leaned back on his stone, leaning on his arms for support. "Well, ever since I left...I've gone to auto tech school. Become an auto technician and opened up my own customs garage. I came back here on routine business." He sat back up. "So what about you?" He asked Richard.

Richard glanced over at Violet, swallowing hard. He might as well tell them now, as a better time probably wouldn't arise. "I left my home, the one we moved to after leaving here. They...didn't approve of me dropping out of college, so I left. It's not the kind of life I wanted to live, sitting in a classroom trying to please everyone else around me except myself." His eyes fell on Violet again, hoping that she wouldn't take what he was saying too hard. "So I've just been driving around on my own, doing odd jobs to get by for food and gas. And surfing when I could.."

Violet had taken a seat on another rock, facing Richard and Dom so they sat in a sort of triangle around the fire. She had just listened quietly as they talked but hearing Richard she frowned softly,
"You never said..." she muttered, a little hurt about how he felt about learning but more bothered about him leaving home. Every now and again she slipped Dom a quick glance, wanting to say something to ease the tension between them but unsure of what to say.

Dom frowned. "Wow, man. That's gotta be hard..." Then, he got an idea. "How about you come work at my garage? I know you've got some kinda know how about cars and engines." He looked at Violet every so often, trying to find the right moment to talk to her. Finally, he just gave in. "Hey Richard, can you give me and Violet a minute? I need to talk to her in private."

"I never said anything when you told me about your nervous breakdown...because I didn't want you to take the route I did." Richard closed his eyes for a second before looking at Dom. "I don't have that much knowledge. You can ask Violet what the state of me car is," he said with a slight chuckle at his hunk of junk. "But sure, I don't mind. I should probably make sure my car is working anyway. This cold could start locking up her engine..." He stood up and gave Violet a comforting glance, before heading back to his car to tune her up a bit.

Dom nodded. He turned and faced Violet. "Umm...I suppose I should start." He took a deep breath. "Look, Vi. I know we've had a rocky past, and that it's effecting our future. So, I just want to say, I'm sorry for hurting you all those years ago. I didn't mean to hurt you so bad. It was just...well..." He trailed off. "It was high school, and everything during those times is just a huge popularity contest, but it still doesn't excuse the fact that I hurt you. I hope you can find it in your heart to forgive me.." Dom looked down at the ground as he remembered the exact moment when he dumped Violet. It was a very emotional moment for both of them. He looked into the fire. I hope she forgives me...He thought with a sigh.
