Kurama smiled inwardly, both at his first comment and the word on the glass. It seemed that writing such things was a new habit—one he found particularly cute. Not that he would press his luck and say so. Mentioning little things like that would take away from Hiei's mood, and that wasn't what he was trying to achieve.
"I'm rather relieved that the end is in sight. You should have run her through earlier," the fox said, trying again at favoring Hiei's sense of humor.

"I wanted to," he said, shutting his eyes. The Jagan glowed once more, but gently this time. "But then I thought of Yukina."
He was lost for a moment in the Eye, trying to see his sister. Again it failed and he cursed quite audibly. "No," he said. "I can't wait any longer, Kurama."
The urgency and frustration was more than clear in his voice. Hiei's patience was already thin from being there so long.

"I suppose we could search for the woman and speak to her," Kurama said, able to sense his growing desperation. "In the letter, it was clear to me that she has given up. I don't imagine it being very likely, but she may set us free before her energy runs dry."
It was worth a try. If she did not comply, the Koorime would have no problem with killing her. While they were at it, the fox might find his answer. He truly wanted to know why they had been brought there.

Hiei grunted, showing how much he would rather not speak to the woman. "She won't set us free early. Unless we give her whatever the hell she wanted right now."
With that said, the Koorime stood from the window. He felt unclean. Being in the Ningenkai had made him become accustomed to bathing regularly. Curiously, he strolled past the bed and into the pretty little bathroom flanking it. The tub was large. Hiei still hadn't gotten the hang of using faucets, but he wouldn't dare ask Kurama for help. Or admit that he wanted to bathe. Turning around, he returned into the bedroom and wandered around it a bit, looking at the decorations.
"And why wouldn't I like your guess of what she wants? I doubt it's that bad."
Somewhere in the back of Hiei's head, he felt a bit awkward.

Kurama's eyes wandered anywhere but to meet the fire demons; he had decided that keeping what the answer may have been to himself would only make things more awkward, as if he were hiding feelings of his own.
"I will tell you again that she wasn't clear, but the way she wrote it insinuated that... she thought we had feelings for each other. Also that she expected us to act on these supposed romantic feelings, being alone. The dinner, the mistletoe, us being handcuffed together... everything points to it." The last sentence was meant to smooth and verify his words, him wishing Hiei would automatically realize that she was playing matchmaker. His overall tone seemed matter-of-fact; he appeared completely neutral to the subject. He would not allow himself to think more deeply on his words, as if somehow that would break his mask and cause him to say something he would regret.

Hiei felt as though he'd been kicked in the side from Kurama's words. He was silent, but soon his expression hardened and his jaw locked, as if he were absolutely disgusted by the idea. He took his place by the window again and didn't speak.

Even though Kurama had expected as much, some small part of him felt a twinge of pain at the reaction. He had been talkative for a while, but the fox's words completely silenced him. By now, he also knew that him returning to the window and isolating himself that way meant that Hiei was irritated, disgusted, or... embarrassed? Certainly not the last.
"Was I going too far in my guess? Did I... offend you?"

Hiei shifted, seeming to be annoyed that Kurama was still talking. "Kurama," the Koorime snapped. "The only thing I could possibly be offended at is that fact that you waited this long to share your ridiculous guess."
He narrowed his eyes and turned his head slightly. "Idiot," he said in a low voice. "Even if it's a stupid deduction, anything would've helped us get out of here sooner."
Still, the Jaganshi really had no idea what he was trying to say. He turned his back completely to Kurama and shut his mouth once more.

"Am I then to assume that you would go along with her ridiculous idea to escape? Or have you not thought this through that far?" Kurama nearly snapped, narrowing his slightly more golden eyes. Something in Hiei's words or tone itself had set him off, but he couldn't place what. He wasn't sure he wanted to. Nor did he care if the other wanted him to simply shut up; it was he who asked the question in the first place, so he shouldn't be acting like a child at the answer. To even make such a claim, Kurama would have to be certain he was correct. And the final piece of evidence had been set into place only the night before.

Hiei certainly did not appreciate Kurama's tone of voice, even if the Jaganshi had started it. The patter of rain seemed to get louder and Hiei was glaring, fighting with himself. He couldn't stop himself.
"If I had known, then I would've told the woman that there is nothing between us so she would stop wasting our damn time!"
Silence fell again and he kicked the window slightly, cursing, Jagan glowing and window fogging from heat.

"I think she figured that out quite well on her own, Hiei," the fox coldly said, standing from the bed and taking several steps with the intention of entering the bathroom. It had been days since his last shower and he now felt filthy. It would also serve as a break from Hiei, something he dearly needed.
Kurama paused at the door and glanced at fire demon, telling himself that it was only because of the extra heat in the room. "I should not have told you at all. By the time I was sure that was what she wanted, she had already sent the letter." Following the words, he all but slammed the door behind him, proceeding to adjust the faucets.

The Jaganshi cursed once more. He was angry, but he couldn't stop asking himself why. Nor could he swallow the feeling of guilt that was stuck in his chest. He hated feeling this way; it was severely uncomfortable and he could never admit to himself why. Once or twice he thought of getting up, but he couldn't bring himself to do it.
Finally, his head was so full of thought that he dozed off, not very comfortably though as it seemed that if he shifted at all, he would fall.

While the water's temperature warmed, Kurama went through the demoness' cabinets. She had a range of different soaps, shampoos, and other products fitting for such a room. He helped himself to a rose-vanilla scented set, already having thought of the possibility of her tampering with it, and dismissing it.
Kurama removed the seeds from his hair before undressing and finally entering the shower. As the water rushed over him, he closed his eyes and let himself relax, not thinking of Kasai, Hiei, or anything. He let himself stay that way until he decided to wash his hair and body, rinse off, turn off the faucets, and leave the shower. He wrapped one towel around his waist, and one around his hair. Once he was as dry as possible, he put his clothes back on, knowing that it would be unwise to leave the room in towels and be teased.
And so when he returned to the bedroom, he was surprised to find Hiei asleep.

Hiei seemed calm, as he usually was when he dozed off. But as though in time with Kurama's return, the Jaganshi tensed, a dull glow emitting from the Eye. His breath hitched—and as quick as the loud flash of lightning, the Koorime was awake and on his feet. He had reached for his katana, but it wasn't there. Another flash of lightning, a crackling sound and he whipped around, arm raised to his middle. There was a dull bom sound as Hiei's hand became engulfed in flame. The window was now cracked and Hiei's eyes were wide as he stared at Kurama. The flame died down and he lowered his arm, trying to calm his racing heart.
"Kurama—"

Green eyes widened as he followed Hiei's movements. His paranoia was often unnerving, but this time more so. Was the fox missing something? He felt as if he were until the flame dissipated and his name was said. By that point, he felt he needed to say something to soothe him, though anything of the sort would garner some comment about him not being a child or so. The fire demon enjoyed twisting his words around.
Kurama came closer, inquiring what was wrong with an mildly worried but curious expression. Both understatements, not that Kurama had ever been overly expressive.
