Kai cautiously stood up after carefully allowing Rosaline to lie down on his side. He opened the door a crack and peered out at the other man, blinking slightly at the bright daylight outside hie darkened room. "Yes? Is there a promblem, Jillian?" he asked, somewhat shyly, he was never comfortable when talking to officials.

Jillian smiled almost in spite of himself. It had always felt... odd... for him to be treated with respect and a certain amount of... wariness, when he was usually younger than those he adressed. In fact, he was a full two years younger than Kai, and they spoke on the same eye level... but the prince had always seemed... distant and, perhaps, a little afraid.
"No, of course not... I have merely returned from another trip to the Kingdom of Storms, and thought you might like to hear of the events? Their prince, as well, sent something with me for you," he said with a small shrug, feeling it would be best to... loosen formalities a bit. To make the prince feel more... at ease.
Rosaline stirred again and, several moments later, finally woke as he was layed carefully on the bed. The absense of another warm body was always noticeable. He blinked sleepily and sat up slowly, the motion catching Jillian's eye.
The diplomat's gaze slid from the prince to the drowsy rose and, involuntarilly, his expression became... there was no other for description for it. It was as he he had... frozen. He had gone completely rigid, mouth open oly slightly as his eyes fixed on the pink-haired dress maker.
"Rosy....?" he asked hesitantly, forgetting pretense and calling the seamster by his nickname, rather than by full.
Rosaline glanced up sleepily and then, shocked, his eyes widened as they fixed on the other.

Kai stared at the diplomat, eyes wide with shock. He knew Rosaline? How could it be, and when and why did they know each other. He heart began sink almost through the ground, could they have been lovers, or maybe they still were. A thousand differetn scenariors rushed through his head, and each one made him want to curl up and die. "Oh, you know each other?" he said, fighting back the tears that were beginning to form in his eyes.

Jillian nodded slowly, snapping his eyes back on the prince, although it was hard for him to... to not ocntinue to stare at Rosaline. He just hadn't... seen the rose in so long. It... it almost hurt. "Yes... for many years," he murmured with a touch of a smile. "We lost touch, though... perhaps... about two... three years ago? I am not sure...." Jillian was eighteen and he had last truly conversed with his rose at the age of sixteen... but he had moved away even two years prior to that.
Rosaline swallowed slightly, looking distinctly shaken. He could... he could feel that Kai was... unhappy. And that made him nervous and... and it hurt. It hurt when Kai was unhappy.
He stood up slowly and came to stand by his lover's side. "It truly... has been a long time," he murmured softly, offering the other a small smile.
Jillian could tell from... from the way Rosy stood close to Kai, and the way he kept glancing at the dark-haired male that... that... It was painful. Very painful. And akward. For once, the diplomat was not wearing his usual, cool mask. He looked, if anything, almost... hurt.
"I suppose... this is not... a good time?" he asked, swallowing slightly. "I'll... leave, then..." And before the either of them could protest (not that they would), he was out the door and had it closed behind him.
If Rosaline had not had a century to practice not crying, this would have caused his to burst out in tears. As it was, he was merely trembling -- both with the other's appearance and departure as well as the strain of not crying.

Kai trembled slightly, wanting to cry but not allowing himself to give in to his emotions. This did not look, the two of them obviously had a history together, and next to him he could practically feel rosaline's sadness alongside his own. but instead of jealousy, he only felt crushed and weak and pathetic. Nothing had changed, he was still alone and always would be. He didn't want to ask but his mind raged at him from the shadows. "Rosaline?" he stammered softly "Could you please explain to me what is going on."

He nodded slowly and a bit reluctantly, although the truth was that he couldn't... entirely tell... everything. Everything would mean that Kai would find out that he had been 'sixteen' for the last century and a half. And then the curse would follow. No. He would mearly have to make it sound as if... as if they had grown together.
"Jillian... is an old friend..." he murmured finally, unable to meet the other's gaze. He wasn't always... so... prominent. I lived - or, rather, live because it's still the same place - in a bad part of town... and Jillian was a child - we both were - and he... didn't have... a family. So... I took care of him, even then...." His voice was slow and a little... reluctant. It felt... wrong... to talk about Jillian and his past without his permission, especially after all the work that had gone into hiding his past.
"I suppose you could say I... acted like his... mother..."

"His mother?" said Kai, slightly shicked by the confession. "It's strange I could have sworn he was older than you, should it be the other way round?" the story didn't quite make sense but then again neither did his argument...or his jealousy.

Rosaline blushed furiously, realising his mistake. "Ah... we're about the same age, I suppose... although neither Jillian nor I are really sure of exactly how old he is...." he murmured with a small shrug and half-smile.
"But I was like his mother... as much as I could be. I mean... he didn't have anyone....." Rosaline looked... sad. Of course he did. Those first few months with Jillian had been... hard. The boy had still been suffering from nightmares... or, at least, he hadn't been supressing his cries back then.... And Rosaline had had to adjust to a work schedule to feed the boy, as well as pay the rent and various other expences....
It had been very, very difficult.

Kai's gaze soften and he smiled gently. How could he not trust his new love with all his heart. It was impossible not to.
"It must have been terrible. Taking care of someone like that when you're still a child yourself." he said taking the other's hand. "It seems as though everything about you is exceptional."

Rosaline's cheeks flushed deeply and he stared down at their clasped hands, unable to stop a small smile flitting across his lips. "I'm not... all that great, but... I mean, I...."
He leaned forward quite suddenly and gave the other a small, soft kiss on the cheek, standing on tip-toe to do so. "Thank you for finding me...." he whispered quietly as he resumed his usual way of standing.

Kai blushed and let out a small laugh. "Well, thank you for coming my way." he replied as he took hold of Rosaline's hand, their fingers interlacing perfectly, like two halves of one whole.

Rosaline flushed deeply and a soft smile touched his pink lips. "I... I'm so... so happy... when I'm with you...." he mumbled, his dark eyes meeting the other's light ones.
Outside, Jillian leaned back against one of the walls bordering the prince's door, his heart hammering quickly. He took several deep breaths to try and calm himself, but ended up failing miserably. He hadn't seen Rosaline in... quite some time.... and yet, the feelings were still there. He still...

Kai couldn't help himself. When he saw the young seamtress looking so happy, something within him demanded that he felt the same way. He was overcome with a joy he never felt before the day of their meeting. Slowly, he allowed himself to touch that beautiful face and place a gentle kiss upon the other man's lips.

Rosaline's eyes gently fluttered shut, after a silent moment's surprise, and he leaned gently up towards the other to return the kiss, his hands gently raising to curl softly against the other's chest.

Kai mosned softly into the kiss and even dared to deepen a little, but not too much for fear of frightening the other. They were, after all still in his bedchambers.
