Zamistia
Zamistia couldn't believe all that was going on, so she was quiet for awhile, as she took everything in. It was all going pretty well so far, since the second bronze who impressed seemed to find his bonded. The way the pair hugged was beautiful, it was a joy to see. And then the Hufflepuff finally came out and found her chosen, she was happy to see the timid one find her bonded. Other dragons hatched and impressed, including a green she hadn't even remembered seeing their egg at the touching. No dragon for her yet, but she was glad to see pairs finding their happiness. She even noticed a green come out of one of the eggs that she had touched, despite having her leg stuck and needing help, but she seemed to be anxious. Aww, the poor thing, she had been so very kind to her when during the touching. A blue also came out, he seemed so graceful, his steps so careful.
Just as she was feeling at ease, that is when things started to start to worry her once more. Some of the eggs from Rhianth's clutch were coming out with red eyes and she didn't like the look of them. She remembered red could mean a few things, but anger was a big one that came to her mind. Gulping lightly, she heard the green that had come out with those red eyes have a chilling laugh, that sent a shiver down her. Then more of her siblings came out and it looked like they were planning something. She quickly took ahold of Riz's free hand, squeezing it tightly, knowing he would understand she was feeling overwhelmed. It would get worse as a bronze sibling bit his green sister, but she didn't seem worried. She could only hope Tizzy was okay, was she still safe with her own friends? Would they be able to protect her little sister, she didn't want any harm to come to her. Not only that, but some of the gentle babies were still out from Fianth's and she feared for their lives.
She felt a little better, when they both seemed to impress, along with a lively green. Okay, they were going to be safe, their bonded would take them over to be fed. Then she heard a roar coming from Rhianth and the little green and she worried a little more. Her eyes drifted to the eggs and hatchling that was out, who had given her peace during the touching, especially one certain egg that hadn't rocked yet. She could only hope they would be safe, if something happened. She focused on those eggs and little green, before she turned back to the green looking upset, the reason for the anger of one of the queens. She sent it gentle thoughts, letting her know that her's would surely love her, no matter what anyone thought.
"Why do you..think they seem...upset?"she asked of the red eyed ones. There had to be a reason, they were just babies after all, she tried to remind herself.

...Did his new friend not think there was a chance? Helaku mulled this over a moment, wondering what the reason for that might be. Looked around his age, so probably not someone close to aging out... He was tempted to ask now, as he might well have to go back to Western before he got another chance, but he reined himself back with a firm reminder that they needed to keep their thoughts positive. Poking at something that could be sensitive was not the way to go about that.
He seized upon the rest of the other boy's words, happy for a safer topic. "Me too. Maybe I'm too quick to judge them after how Western's last clutch went." After all, nobody had really suffered much harm yet, first impressions (hah) aside. Maybe Crucio was just...different. Maybe Avadra Kedavra was just quick to anger. "They haven't really done...anything wrong yet. A bite or two at each other mostly..."
He tilted his head slightly as the Be Our Guest egg's falling cracked open Colors of the Wind, revealing another pretty little green. He didn't get to ponder her long, however, as both Rhianth and Crucio growled...wait, was Crucio guarding another? A green that he had missed among all the hatchlings on the Sands, that now seemed very disheartened! Helaku's heart went out for her, and his initial estimation of the Crucio green rose a few notches. No dragonet was all bad, of course, but protecting her sister still improved her standing in his eyes.
He looked over at Saekagi, noting...something. A shift in expression, or maybe in posture. "Hey, you still doing okay?" His voice was gentle, earnest. He didn't want to distract the other boy too much, but maybe he could draw him out of any negative thoughts a little.
Then the Be Our Guest egg (the one that had made him feel so very welcome here) grabbed his attention by shattering, bursting open to give the brown inside quite an entrance! There was a little spike of worry as Be Our Guest collided with the green (ouch), but when it was clear no harm was done he allowed himself to smile wide and even laugh a little. "Those two seem friendly," he remarked. Probably pointing out the obvious, but he wanted to remind himself and others that not all of them looked liable to lash out.

Sylfie Watching Theo sketch and write, not only so quickly but without even looking at what he was doing, was utterly fascinating. And she certainly didn't begrudge him looking at the ongoing Hatching instead of at her - far from it, as it made her feel just slightly less uncomfortable while trying to put words to the very personal experience of Impression. Her hands stroked over Regory all the while, a soft and soothing weight in her lap. How perfect the little blue was, and how she wanted one just like him! Though it wouldn't be the same, not as having him and his bonded there.
"It- yes, exactly," she confirmed with a slight nod. "It seems so impossible that it could be real..." It still did, some days, but here they were. "I imagine it m-must be even harder for the people who Impress from the Stands. That has to be quite the shock."

C'ryn of Bronze Aresoth--Wingrider of High Reaches
Things were getting...tense..down on the sands. While he wasn't down there with the candidates, C'ryn was able to see what was going on. A lot of it was in the Western Candidates and a lot of that had appeared when a green had hatched. He couldn't tell why they were nervous until a bronze hatched and....took a bite of his sister. This act alone made Aresoth tense and let out a soft rumble that only C'ryn could hear, thanks to their perch.
Hurtng his own clutchmate for no reason... The bronze trailed off and C'ryn placed one hand against his side, lightly stroking the hide. He could feel the small amount of anger at the hatchling, though the bronze was calming down, realizing that maybe the hatchling had done that because he had not impressed yet.
The pair went back to scanning the candidates when C'ryn suddenly sat up a bit straighter. This made the bronze curious and he used their bond to trace where he was looking. "I didn't know she had signed up for the swap." C'ryn breathed the words and Aresoth chuckled through their bond. Well, she does have a friend here, if she does manage to impress. C'ryn had been so focused on the fact that Huarwar had written and told him he wasn't going to take part of the swap, that he didn't even think that Kiri might have decided to try her hand. Who knew if she did manage to impress. The thought made C'ryn's heart beat a bit faster, all while Aresoth felt quite amused. He normally, or at least used to, feel C'ryn act this way around or concerning Alumet.
My C'ryn and I wish you luck this day Kiri, and we hope that you find your bonded among those assembled. He reached out to the young woman, letting his mind gently brush against hers, trying not to startle her and just give encouragement.

Zyamel Before she had an opportunity to respond a green approached, kicking up sand, and Impressing to the other girl in their group. She watched the Impression take place, a sting of jealousy and envy snaking through her thoughts. While she did not begrudfe the match, and smiled with pleasure at the other.... Another part of her wondered what they had that she didn't.
Well, there were more eggs to be hatched, and she still had hoped for one of those fierce greens. They had to be a kindred spirit, if nothing else. "Guess it's just you and me now, baby," she all but purred at Iathe. Still, her smile was feral and sharp but genuine. She could flirt with the other after the hatching. Iathes sharp edges might need some soothing if they were left rejected, after all.
"Too many fools out there. Pissin' off the babes when they're only moments old. Even if they do tear into folks they're just little ones.". Maulings and death were common for a clutch. Hatchlings were more unstable while they looked for theirs. Best to stay alert and try to stay out of their way... And keep negitive thoughts to a minimum. "They'll make some fierce fighters."

(And another for Dawns <3 /Shakes fist at Gaia..)
Melhaika // ~19 // he/him // on the sands
Though he stayed to the back of the candidates it wasn't fear or any such reason holding him back. No he knew that life was unfair and hurt, and the chances of others being hurt or killed... well, it was high. And he hadn't survived as long as he had by taking risks. Let the others do that. If any was meant to be His, they would find him. And if it meant bodies on the sands before him, he could handle that. But he wasn't about to shed his blood for no reason. In defense of others, in defense of the hatchlings, nothing. If he had to be here, he was in it for himself.
So he watched. He waited. If there was something important, he would act, but nothing had yet caught his attention, or caused him any real need to do anything.

Finnisa Through the crowd of candidates, a flicker of something—someone—familiar caught Finn's eye. Ohoooh! With a glance towards the hatchlings she began to move, casual as you please in her crossing the short way over to where Iathe stood chatting with another lady. Two of the other hatchlings had picked from near that area, hadn't they? A lucky spot, perhaps. Still, it was Iathe she'd come over to say hello to.
"Hey you. Long time no see. Well, not really, but..." She couldn't help but wink at Iathe, and then...right! Zyamel. It'd taken her a moment to recall the name, and the family history there too. "Girls got your eyes on any of them in particular?" She shifted to stand alongside them, easy as you please, as if she'd been there all along, or at least been invited. "Strange a bit, to see them hatched and about. Been eggs so long. I still remember how wild that week was, with both flights..." A shrug. "Still, I suppose most would say this part's the best thing about gold flights, huh?"

Be Prepared looked on at the assorted...antics...of both clutches. On this side, hissing, posturing, all that bluster...on that side, strutting and far too much exuberance. The little brown swung his head around to eye the parents of both clutches, his own included, as if to say 'really?' He huffed, a tiny, grumbly sound as he further reclined in his little sandy spot. Yes, just delightful to have so very many relations.
You know, I'm growing quite bored of them already. He almost seemed to sigh into one particular mind.
The brown streeetched, slowly lowering himself to his belly, claws crossed with an artful disdain before him. The head swiveled, looking into the crowd of candidates. All wishing, all hoping, fearing, worrying. It seems we both are simply surrounded by idiots. The brown's eyes faded from green to orange, to brilliant red.
Well, Kellan? Are you simply going to stand there like the rest of those commoners, or are you going to come and collect your Eskharath? From across the sands, the hatchling's eyes went from red to rippling rainbow. Do forgive me for not jumping about like some of my siblings—being cramped in that egg was murder on my back.

Rune - HR - She/Her Shards, her heart went out to the little green, what little of a heart she'd admit to having. Whoever made those eyes go white deserved to be mauled, and a part of her hoped that Crucio would. These children were precious, devoted to their Riders, born perfectly. They were destined for greatness, and anyone who could make a hatchling's eyes turn white....A growl rose from her, "Whoever made that baby's eyes turn white is gonna get it..." Her voice was low, furious, though she drew her mind back in to a neutral place, for the sake of the hatchlings.
Rhys - HR - He/Him He knelt slightly, squatting as he watched. Poor thing....Poor Amortentia, that little baby was so sweet and beautiful, so precious. These babies were the future of Pern, and it made his heart ache. Lovely, sweet Green....It would be okay, Rhys would assure her, if he was allowed....sending her all the love and warmth he could.
