That time she was unable to haul her prey free of the water. Zin grit her teeth and pulled again. She didn't want to hurt anyone, but at that point, it was worth a few bumps and bruises to save their life.

Quite frankly, this woman was probably better off without Danny's help.

"Just ... Just um ... put the rope ... Oh forget it."

"Watch the fiddle!" the bard shouted when Zin dragged him into the canal wall again.

"Worry about yourself!" she retorted. Instruments could be replaced-- bones, not so much. She'd have to be more careful.

Danny was a bit exhausted from pulling in three people, but a strange humming noise caught her attention.

There was a bard in the river, but he was still playing. Even though he was drowning. "What the ..."

Danny threw him a large chunk of wood to float on. Best he have a stage?

She only managed to slam him into the wall again. How much did that violin weigh?! Then again, the bard's portly stomach and waterlogged costume weren't helping matters much either. "I'm going to pull again!" she warned. "Try to work with me!"

8. Short, light-haired Marching Band Trainee


The bard continued to grumble about his ruined instrument even as Zin pulled the lasso off him. She looked back into the canal-- almost everyone had been rescued. That was a relief, but she could not rest until everyone was saved. Here eyes widened as she caught sight of a familiar uniform. A fellow trainee had fallen in! She threw her rope in their direction.

It was about then that Alec had seen Lenore pull his sister from the water. Much to his horror. The boy was up off his feet, and running for the small child scooping up the crying Ashley and hugging her tightly admits the chaos. "Hey its ok..I got you now." he muttered looking up at the dark haired girl, more than happy for her brave valor.

"T..thank you so much I didn't even see her in there..." He scrubbed at his own face with his gloved palm, refusing to look like a child himself. Quickly Alec stood up with the little red head whom gratefully clung to her older brother.

"Thank you nice lady.." The child sniffed, peering over her brothers shoulder at the girl whom had been her savior..even if she'd had to try more than once.

Day Five: Hp = 5

Between the rhythm of the drums and the din of the crowd Nik couldn't make out many specific sounds. Horses whinnied off in the distance, the barges creaked and the men pulling them grunted and groaned. Other than that all was drowned out by the festival and the sound of his own pulse thundering in his ears. The rope had begun to feel slightly wet which had led him to believe that his hands had opened up and were beginning to bleed, and he was so focused on not allowing exhaustion to throw him to the ground that he did not notice much else.

That was, until Shun called back about the Utopia barge. Nik's reaction was too slow as he jerked his head up just in time to see Shun dodge out of the way. Dropping the rope he sought to do the same but the mast of the fancy barge had already snapped of and swing wildly. He managed to avoid most of the onslaught but a piece of the rigging zipped off and struck him upside the head, rendering him unconscious and throwing him to the ground.
