00zingTea full of anger and irritation was ready to just try and fight the creature. Clearly she was much better at confrontation then running. Except she didn't spawn at the beginning like the other three times she had been K.O. No she was at the end. She had just literally sucked so bad the game had let her win. This was shameful, but she swallowed hard and accepted her reward.

The Chase: Part 5
The little werebat didn't stop running until she was well out of the forest. Only when the stomps and assorted other noises that she now associated with painful death were gone did she allow herself to suck in a grateful gulp of air and sink to the ground. After a few seconds, a treasure chest appeared and she opened it, quickly stuffing her loot into her pockets. She'd look at it later.

In hindsight, Big realized he probably should have been more careful. For a place as prone to spitting out belligerent flowers and plants as this, it was surprisingly easy to forget that there were even belligerent flowers and plants around. To be fair, the changes in the forest crept over it slowly, the sun dimming to twilight even though there was no previous indication that night was falling. The trees grew closer together here as well, the spaces between them nearly nonexistent.
He was examining the latest card he had added to his collection when the woods went silent as well, and he didn't notice anything was wrong until a number of upright rabbits raced past him, worry evident in their surprisingly expressive eyes.
"It's coming," the one in the lead breathed. "Don't let it catch you, come on!"

"What's coming?" he asked, trailing after the creatures at a brisk walk. They remained silent, but as it turned out, they really didn't need to tell him anything at all. The creature's presence was soon palpable, and it was enough to speed him up to a jog, then a run. He wasn't about to turn around to find out what it was, no matter how much his curiosity nagged at him.

Big noticed an out of place table ahead, but he didn't slow as he approached then passed it, grabbing at the larger of the two items on its top. He wasn't particularly drawn to either, he just didn't want to fumble and drop something smaller. Big felt a comforting wave of energy wash over him as the vial disappeared into his hand. If nothing else, he would die... healed?

He continued at a run, the trees tightening around him. Ahead was a sea of branches, or at least it seemed that way. They scratched at his face, and as he winced and turned his head, he saw a dark shape curl around into view from behind him. One of the badgers running at his side let out a frightened chirp as it was pulled back behind him. The darkness began to fade, pushed away by the animal's sacrifice. Big knew it was only temporary.

Too soon, it had returned. Another badger had joined him as well, along with a dodo, two flamingos, a beaver, and several sparrows. The adrenaline born of Big's fear continued to drive him, long after he would have otherwise dropped from exhaustion. Each step was torture, his breathing erratic and his legs churning like his life depended on it, which he supposed it did.
He sped up again, and just in time too. One by one, his temporary companions were pulled into the darkness at Big's back. They didn't even have time to make a sound before they were gone.

He was certain that this was the end, that after the last flamingo was taken he would be next. He would get sucked into some monster's maw and never be seen again.
And then, like that, the thing that chased him was gone. A shaft of sunlight poured down from the trees ahead, and although Big could somehow tell that he was safe, he couldn't convince himself to believe the feeling entirely. He cautiously combed the clearing, ready to spring at anything that jumped out of the shadows. Finally, he conceded. There was nothing there.
He flopped onto his back in the grass, his chest heaving as he tried to catch his breath. The beast was surely gone now. He could move on. All Big wanted to do was sleep. He stared up into the trees. Sound slowly returned to the forest.

k1ll looked around cautiously as things ran past. Was he supposed to be killing them? "lma0??" He stood, scratching his head until he heard the noise of rustling behind him. Turning, he stared into the one eye of the Jabberwock. "L0L M@D H2XX0RZ!! MEG@ L00T!!!" Charging towards it, he dropped to 10 hp from the first attack. Utterly failing to notice, he was splatted again, to 0 hp.
"H@X!!!!!!!"

After respawning five times, k1llzerKeR gave up. It wasn't fair! This game was broken. Looking around for a way to cancel the quest, he was splatted again.

After respawning many, many more times, and broadcasting innumerable 'not fair' comments to local chat, he finally noticed all the other people running away. Disgusted with how unfair this boss was, he decided to try and get out of the woods as well.

MissKitty had been mulling about the strange new world, trying to figure out her next course of action, when the blood curdling screams crossed her ears.
Funny how they never specify exactly what is coming. Couldn't they take an extra breath to at least describe the monster that's about to stomp one a new a*****e?
NOPE GUESS NOT.
Riyo watched the strange little creatures dart on by as all noise ceased.
An ominous presence crept up like a hungry serpent as she stood there, puzzled by what had just transpired. Then, slowly but surely, she turned to see the face of the beast that was breathing down her neck.
"... You are one ugly son of a b***h." She mumbled as her eyes widened, stumbling back as it lunged without warning.
"10 HP? WHAT?!" Where had that voice come from? He really hadn't liked her derogatory comment, had he? Whelp, no time to gawk.

It seemed like the feline had managed to escape the creature, but she wasn't about to halt. No no, you didn't stop until the footsteps were gone and the birds started chirping again.
Why are you running, friend? MissKitty's virtual heart skipped a beat as the all-too-familiar voice caught her by surprise. You're not a coward! Stand and fight!
Hel's voice in such an unfamiliar setting made the girl's legs tremble as she continued to run. She wanted to turn around, take comfort in something she knew. Forget about the stressful time she was having...
But she did not.
"NOPE!" Was all she managed to say as her feet refused to fail her.

Jogging down the path, k1ll turned right, and stopped for a moment at the bottle. Considering it for a few seconds, he gave it a taste. Yeah!! He was getting better at these mmo games! They weren't so hard at all. Look at that. 10 'life thingies'.

After taking a few more painful hits from the Jabberwock, k1ll suddenly realized that it wasn't chasing him anymore. The trees were thinner as well, and the forest less menacing. Slowing down, he glanced over his shoulder and shook his head. "t0tAl h@xx. lmA0." Sniffing at the incompetence of the game designers, he walked off.
