She'd need to move in response to their movements, too, if she intended to hit them. It seemed like she had chosen right: if she shifted as each of them moved, they couldn't gang up on her the same way. Raumias made sure she could only be attacked by one of them at a time, using other Harpies as defense shields by pitting their movements against one another.
She managed to smash one foot at one of the harpies and hit it with her weapon, taking only thin claw marks.

Maybe as much as the course was to her disadvantage, so long as she kept diligent, she could use it against them, too. This time, making sure to move around the Harpies so that not only could she make sure she didn't get hit by more than one, she managed to pin two against one another so that their flurries contributed to her ability to attack them: they got stuck on one another, and she launched from sure footing to smash into a couple more of them, dazing them.
This was going better. Okay. She could do this.

Hardly as many of them were left as there were before.
She just needed to, like the rest of her time, keep an even mind and a sure foot. Don't rush it, just because their numbers were thinning. She took it slow, and positioned them all, for one final strike:
a sweeping kick that hit every enemy remaining, so hard that she could hardly believe the sheer force which she'd managed to exert.
Keep calm. Keep focused.
If only she could do that when others were around, too.

Once the Harpies had been defeated, Amarus headed to the top of the cliff, finally. It had been a long walk, and for what? Just to be the master of someone else's domain?
Was there any other reason? Strength. She coveted it, and she had just proven that she was stronger than her opponent, which was what she felt gave her the right to be at the top of the cliffs, looking down.
Unfortunately, it still felt as though someone was looming just behind her. She did not feel that her strength was sufficient yet. She would become stronger.
In time.

[Entering from The Spire]
However Kieyrr managed to make his way into the area he was not pleased. The cliffs were ominous and his mind told him not to even attempt to climb them, but he wasn't even about to listen to the warnings. He could see others making their way up, and he wasn't determined to be one of the ones to finish the journey.
Luck seemed to be on his side since he had no trouble making his way up. There may have been a few creaks and close calls, but other than that it was simple.

He only had one more step to take to make it across the bridge. Just one more step. Just as he was about to jump to the other side the bridge gave out. In a hurry he attempt to cling to the edge, the bridge, anything, but it was too late. He was falling....

It was time enough from descents and flights--now was the time for an actual climb.
Rostym stared up at the Aether with quiet awe as she approached. And then once she hit the foot, she cracked her knuckles and began her journey.
Scaling the mountain didn't seem so bad, not-so-trustworthy structures or not. Or maybe she was just lucky. Or nimble. Or finally, finally showing off all that battle experience in quick and decisive movements. Either way, she was on her way up and up and up . . .
This bridge . . . looked unsafe. Then again, at this point what wasn't.
Grateful that her small figure was at least a little on the light side, Rostym began her journey across. There were times where she had to pause, her heart beating wildly when a breeze made the bridge swing--even a little made her nervous. Step by step, just go at it step by step . . .
And by focusing on that, Rostym made it five steps onto the the other side before she realized what was happening. To use the word her new friend had taught her: awesome.
And yet just as she was beginning to feel good about herself, something shrieked. Some many things shrieked, really. A group of what looked like winged, distorted humanoids hissed and spat as they descended upon her, their claws too quick for her to defend against.
Swords summoned, Rostym began to fend off the flock as best she could, cutting here and there and watching the fog leak from them with detached fascination. What were these things? Had she accidentally invaded their home?
"I'm sorry!" she tried to apologize, which gave her absolutely nothing.
And then they countered with a vengeance. The little shadow cried out as one grabbed her hair and yanked it hard enough to nearly pull her off the hill.
"Let go!" she yelled, cutting at one as another rushed forward to continued the job. They were mindless and yet coordinated, which made Rostym wonder if this was a hivemind of some sort . . .
Shouting, she spun her weapons around and around, trying to give them the distinct and clear message that they were not going to get rid of her that easily.
The message was either ignored or didn't go through.
So she hit them a little harder to make her point. Or points as it were.
They disappeared with a sussurance of hisses, hateful eyes the last to go. She shivered and touched her head, wincing at where it had been tugged the most.

And then she reached the top. It was magnificent to see such a view and know that she had done it on her own power. A thrill shot through Rostym, and a little smile could not be helped.
It faded, however, when she realized something was malingering: a presence still with her. Behind her even.
She moved quickly with a cold grip of anxiety in her heart, snatching up a blessing and getting out before she could be pushed over the edge.
