So she continued looking. Another dark corner, another small fragment. A quick desperate hand shot out, and she was pleased as she felt the warmth of fragment against her fingers.

The snippet of speech echoed, and again she turned. No one was there to whisper it. She didn't have time for half completed sentences. She wanted more fragments. They were warm, and they came with a feeling of...
She didn't dwell on it. She was busy looking.

Frowning, Ifnie watched as the flickering fragment floated out of her reach. Now she really wanted to know what they were! Which meant finding another one.
That shouldn't be too hard... right?
Moving slowly - the concept of 'walking' was still a little weird - her dull gaze sought out another flicker.
Glancing over her shoulder, she almost ran face first into one.
She halted suddenly, hands flying up to grasp the fragment. A smile formed and then she froze as something whispered across her mind.
Hound.
Ifnie frowned, trying to hold on to the word and find a place for it. Hound? What was that? What did it mean? She... had no idea. But the word sounded important? Maybe?
She wanted another fragment.

Kirki laughed softly, pleased that not all of the fragments were giving Chaesel anything bad. He reached for another one and the second his fingers brushed against it there was a loud pop that rang in his ears.
A millisecond later there was a blazing pain in his collar bone and then his thigh. He cried out and clenched his teeth, and the pain was gone almost as fast as I came.
"... I didn't like that one," He finally gasped.

That... actually worked! Ifnie grinned at her success, looking around as if she expected to see someone.
Funny accent and short, like me.
Huh? She had no idea what any of that meant! Short? Was she short? Different from some of the other figures? She stared at her hand, where she'd grasped the fragment.
Another one! Ifnie ran after it, wanting to see if she'd get some strange thought in her head again. Annnnnd... success! She grabbed it and held tight, closing her eyes.
"Gator." The word rolled off her tongue and felt... right. Familiar but... that was all she knew. What the hell did 'gator' mean?
