The ice cracked again, a sound like a gunshot, and Madison realized she couldn't wait any longer. She ran, the ice slipping and sliding away behind her, snapping like the most horrible bowl of Rice Krispies ever devised. She made a flying leap for the next tilting slab-
-and missed, sliding down towards the water. Desperately, she clawed one of Kouki's blades free from the scabbard and slammed it into the ice, using it as a handhold to make her way up to more stable footing.

Kouki's blade suddenly gave way, slipping free of the ice, and Madison yelped as she started skidding downwards again. Thankfully, she fetched up in a crack just wide enough to jam her toes into. Oh god.

And then the slab of ice started to tilt towards her. Desperately, Madison twisted and leapt away, hitting relatively solid ice with a rib-bruising thud.

Relatively stable? No... completely stable. Madison stumbled forward on shaky legs, trying to get used to the idea that the ground didn't naturally tilt and wobble in all directions. After a few more steps, she turned and looked back at the utter wreckage they'd made of the ice, the giant freak's form sinking like a dying continent.
She felt... numb, and not just because of the cold. With a sigh that left a plume of whiteness in the air, Madison kept walking.

Yes. Yes it was. It almost landed on Sherry, but fortunately, it didn't. It's landing on the ice did send her flying though.

After the near brush with the whale, Sherry found herself on a bit of new ice. New and moving. Like..tipping over moving. Oh, hell.
Sherry jumped.
She wondered how much longer she could keep this up.

Out of the ice like a...Sherry didn't have time to think of good simile. She was too busy not being crushed by a leaping whale.

Again, the encounter with the what left Sherry on unstable ice.
Again, her jumping skills were tested. If she'd had time, she might have admired her skills today.
