A blur of blue zoomed onto the dance floor. Something was attached to Aislin's leg. It looked like a small Cthulhu in a tux.
And yet it wasn't humping for once. Strange.
The minipet held out a tiny piece of paper for the banshee to take, vibrating in excitement.
.. Okay, maybe there was a little inadvertent humping.
---
Riley chuckled at Jericho's compliment, but looked a little surprised to hear Mot's voice. Never one to turn down an offer, she held her hand out quite ladylike for him to take.
Well, that's rather kind of you. I must warn you, I cannot see very well. Her face crunched up in determination and frustration. But I refuse to let that stop me from enjoying myself tonight.
And then.. an idea blossomed within her, and it showed clearly on her expression. She stood, still holding her hand out.
Lead the way, dear sir.

Dancing with Aislin was turning out to be quite pleasant. She moved well, the clear, gauzy parts of her dress fanning out above long, slender legs, and when she laughed it sounded like bells. Sparrow supposed that was part of her banshee charm, since a banshee's voice was what it was all about, but it really was quite endearing.
"My darling, if you ever feel lonely up there, I would be happy to come and keep you company," he told her with a playful wink, and spun her around again, his movements slow and gentle. "I am, after all, your date, and I need to act as such."
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ren was still not entirely certain who this Sparrow person was who seemed to be so taken with LW, but whoever he was, he apparently had a date. The boil bowed to them and disappeared, leaving the quartet by themselves just as the song shifted.
A slow song. Ren's eyes slid towards Gabrian with a teasing look on his face.
"Come on, you," he said, and grabbed the nix's wrist, tugging him towards the dance floor. "Let me show you how it's done."

!!!!!!
Invictus's posture couldn't straighten out any further, as he always did nothing more than stand as tall and proudly as he possibly could..but still, he would have if he could have when the Kelpie laid his head on the horseman's shoulder. Instead, his lips just tightened a bit.
The horseman had no care for what was going on with the pair across the floor from them, or even anybody else on the floor at all, outside of the fact that he didn't want to trample somebody else. Invictus wouldn't be going down that easily (And even the girl of his dreams wouldn't be able to knock him down with a simple look. Sorry, it was just how he was...).
"Are you alright?" he asked, looking down at the kelpie, pondering if somehow he'd somehow made Calder come down with motion sickness. It was a possibility, Sometimes Invictus moved too quickly to even be aware of how quickly he was doing so. Sigh.

"Is that so?" She teased, letting out a small gasp when the sloth demon's grip tightened on her waist, her body squeezing closer his. She had no qualms about getting closer to him as he showed her his moves on the dance floor. Admittedly, she had been a bit surprised that although the demon's dancing was not matching the music's tempo, it didn't seem entirely out of place either. Either way, the reaper rested her head into the groove of the demon's neck for a moment, close to his ear.
"I am pleased," she nearly purred into his ear. She'd gotten him to dance, without even trying, it was a good night.

Now finished with the slots, Roch started for the table where the food was, vaguely feeling like he'd forgotten something... What was it? It was--
"Oh jack in a box!" he cursed, facepalming. "Claire!" He looked around, searching for the petite demoness.

Tess clapped and chuckled after Mac's little performance. "I give it a nine point five out of ten," she told him, her eyes tapering into happy, amused lines. However, she didn't resist when he said the song ought to be danced to properly, and since, well, this was prom, she figured she ought to dance as he suggested. "I'm going to hold you to that promise," she stated, suddenly finding his shoes fascinating as she positioned her arms where they should go.

Aislin gave a charmed little giggle, stepping into another elegant swirl only to stumble most UNGRACEFULLY, grasping in surprise at Sparrow's shoulders as something smacked into her ankle and clung. She looked down with a scowl, trying to lift her bare foot to see what it was and finding the task difficult. The ghostling found herself staring down at... a blue... Tiny... Riley thing. It was practically jittering with excitement as it wave a slip of paper up at her urgently. She snatched the note away, about to be in an incredibly foul mood. She'd been enjoying a pleasant slow dance with her date and now some weird little... " Oh." The anger drained away from her features. Mischief lit up the banshee's face as she looked back towards her date. " Time to get back to work!" She disengaged from Sparrow's arms, pausing a moment to give him a little, genuine hug before she started back towards the booth, shaking her foot once or twice to dislodge the blue monstrosity.

With a sudden, EAR SPLITTING SCVRRRrrRRrrRRrrRRT! the dreamy slow music stopped with an inappropriate abruptness. Sudden red lights flashed across the dance floor, making it even more of a shocking transition. "Attention, boils and ghouls! Please remain calm! This is an Emergency Music Change!"She didn't announce what the song was called, she apparently didn't need to. The red lights quit flashing and the fog machine was stopped (although a thin layer of the menacing mist would remain spread across the floor for a while, kicking up as the students moved around). The large mirrored' ball stayed where it was though, speckling dots of light all across the dance floor. (( Apache (Jump On It) by Sugar Hill Gang ))

Mot took the outstretched hand, smiling proudly as he led the mindflayer away to the dance floor. "I admire your determination. You'll need it for this dance." Riley seemed to have an idea though, and that had him either worried or further assured of Riley's cooperation. Once at the dance floor, he took the time during the slower song to whisper into Riley's ear, forgetting the whole mind reader thing. He was used to his way of things. Either way, she heard him, and no one else did. He explained the plan, the moves, and how epic they would both look. The hatted cowboil then pulled away with a grin. "Ready, partner?"And with that, they made their grand 'entrance'... in the form of the best dance ever. Riley and Mot, side by side, synching their moves like they had it all planned out... They were sexy and amazing. Their hips told it to be so. Their hips don't lie. Hips don't lie.

Riley's expression was determined as ever. Despite the fact that she was blind as a bat, she'd managed to close her eyes and reach out, reading Mot's ideas thoroughly enough to synchronize her autonomous body functions with the signals his brain was sending to his own body.
In layman's terms, Riley was moving at the exact same pace, and style, as Mot. Which, subsequently, she had trusted him enough to assume was some kind of very special, and elegant dance.
Except her hips seemed to be thrusting rather inelegantly at times.
It was only after a few minutes of the twisting, and turning, that Riley got the sense they were not, in fact, doing the most awesome of dances. She disengaged her mind from Mot for a moment, and her eyes slit just slightly open to see the flailing reaper at work.
As he turned his back to her, she wrapped her arms, and legs, around his body, and decided that their special dance needed a special ending.
.. had she gone too far? As Mot sailed through the air, Riley awkwardly jabbed her thumbs back and forth in a vain attempt to act like that was on purpose.

Success! Riley really had the hang of all this! Mot was having an epic time! Nothing could go wrong! Except maybe being thrown across the room. But that was okay! The arms around his torso and the feeling he was going to be thrown gave him time enough for a plan. An epic plan. As the boil sailed across the room, he came to a sliding landing onto a table. But instead of sliding off, the boil twirled in a circle on his back, spun into a bounce... ..and continued to dance ON THE TABLE. For an added flare, once his little moonwalk was done, he leaned over his makeshift stage to smile at Levi. "Have I out danced you yet, partner?"

(( old reaction is oooooold ))
"Nothing," he said, schooling his expression back to neutrality. "She didn't do anythin'." Lies.
West picked up his fork and swirled it around in his leftover lepus sauce. This was just great. He had told her this would be fun, but it was turning out to be anything but. Honestly, jabbing railroad spikes into his legs would have been more fun than what was happening at this point, and surprisingly, the demon was warming to the notion of dancing if it made things less awkward. He almost nodded at her suggestion, but it was at that moment that Nukpana took the floor. What.
No, really. What?
West watched in awe as the skinwalker shook his groove thang like he was the only one in the room. He half expected others to start making fun of the boil, but soon it seemed everyone had joined him. West kept staring.
He was suddenly very glad he hadn't had any of the punch. "Games, maybe?" The boil tried to project an air of seriousness, but all that came out was a smirk. At least he was smiling again.

The music changed abruptly and Junko blinked, refilling her drink and facing the dance floor to see what was happening. That was when Mot and Riley took center stage...and...danced. ..That was dancing, right? It was hilarious! How coordinated they were, the dancing itself, the music! Junko managed to swallow her drink before she started laughing, carefully clapping so she wouldn't spill her drink everywhere. "Go Riley! Go Mot!" She called out with a laugh, grinning. It was so wonderful to see everyone having fun and--MOT FLYING THROUGH THE AIR?! Junko, who had been taking another sip of her drink, spit it out laughing. She was quick to wipe off her face, putting a hand over her mouth and laughing behind it. Oh, Jack! This was priceless!

Claire bobbed her head to the song. IT WAS SO GROOVY! She started to wonder where Roch was, though. Maybe he found a prettier girl to dance with? Probably. She didn't want to dance anyway... Well, she did, but she felt a bit disheartened and went to sit down somewhere. It's okay Claire, he probably just got distracted...
