Scarlet met Twilight in the doorway and stretched in a sensuous, feline way. "Anything the matter, darling?"
When he reported what Mouse had discovered, Scarlet's face darkened.
"Oh, no. I don't like uninvited guests. Perhaps my guard at the hot-springs will detour tag-a-longs," she growled. "Let's get ready to land."
The plane touched down and Scarlet led the way out of the airplane and into a long private limo. The three vampires and three humans piled in to the dark leather interior.
"To the Mountain Hotspring Resort, driver," Scarlet snapped. The driver pulled away without a word. A few miles up the road, Scarlet ordered him to pull over. "I'm going to walk the rest of the way. Care to join me, my love?" She asked, holding her hand out to Ciro.

Val had smirked and grunted at her greeting, but his lighthearted appearance belied his seriousnous. he knew she could read him through it. he reported to the point, though calmly.
when the limo stopped, Val was confused. "not taking the rest of us with you? what's the plan?"

Scarlet flashed a brilliantly white smile at Twilight. "I just need to stretch my legs after spending so long in a tiny air cabin." It's been a long time since I've run through the wilds of Japan--as little as there is of true 'wild' left, anyway."

As the group got out of the plane, Alfons watched the Huey fly off. "Wonder where he's going?" he said to no-one in particular.
In the limo, the silence was deafening; at least it was until Dmitri chambered a round in his pistol. "Just in case."
Shortly after this, the limo pulled over and Scarlet got out. Ciro responded to her question, "Gladly. I've never been outside Tokyo before, so this would be a new experience. And with you all the better." He seemed nonchalant but was actually somewhat worried about the helicopter from earlier. Ciro took Scarlets hand as he got out of the limo.
Watching this, Alfons turned to address the driver. "After we start moving again, drop Dmitri and me off at the nearest train station. We need to go to Takayama."

Vincent's plane finally reached Osaka. "Where are they headed, sir?" "Let's start with the old fool's brother's place near Mount Ontake."

Manguusu's plane reached Japanese airspace at last. "Only 1 hour to Osaka. Then one long train ride home. Whew." He thought.

Scarlet and Ciro left the limo and walked off the road. She laced her fingers in his and started to run. It was exhilarating to run through Japan. It smelled different than the continent. The air felt different. The vibes and auras were different. She picked up speed as she ran, until her delicate toes were barely touching rocks, trees, and roof tops. The moon glinted on her white hair and skin as she dragged her vampire lover through the night.
They ran and ran, through city then dense suburban town and then into the forests of Mount Iwawaki. Soon they found a large temple-like building in the middle of nowhere. A dirt road was the only thing that connected it to civilization. Scarlet set down on the hardwood porch with barely a whisper and finger combed her windblown hair into submission.
"Welcome to the 赤霜 hotsprings, my personal resort," she said and proudly waved at the building.
The sliding front door opened and an old man bowed to them both. "Welome back, Miss Frost. You're usual arrangements?"
"Please," she purred. "And I have another vampire and three human visitors on the way. Please make them feel welcome and direct them to my pool when they're ready."

Val actually felt bored during the ride. somehow, his mood was irritable and he just gazed out the window blankly. Mouse was being shy, and seemed nervous over her owner's behavior. it was as though she was expecting blame for his mood.
though she kept occaisionally glancing back at the Vampire, she did watch Alfons and Dmitri for a while, curious about what they were up to.

The limo pulled up to the station. Dmitri and Alfons gathered their things and stepped out into the pale moonlight. "Sind Sie beladen und verschlossen?" "Da, ya gotov na vse." "Die Macht der Amaterasu ist in unserer Reichweite." They walked off, heading toward the place the tickets were sold.

"Akashimo Ideyu," Ciro noted, "Scarlet Frost Springs. Well, at least one doesn't have to worry about who owns it." He smiled and returned the old man's bow. Ciro then closed his eyes, using his senses to observe the area. He noticed a small huntsman spider near the doorway; then he thought it'd be funny to see Mouse's reaction.

"Confound this train! Yet another stop?" Vincent complained, pacing anxiously. He and his men occupied the last car a train bound for Takayama. "We're wasting time!" Just as he yelled that, he looked to the next car over. The people entering it were none other than Dmitri and Alfons!
"Lay low boys," Vincent ordered. "I knew he'd go to Ontake."

Back in Osaka, Manguusu had made his way to a temple. He asked the monks there if he could stay the night. The monks allowed it, and showed him to a guest room. Manguusu bowed in thanks, and promptly began meditating in the middle of the room. Well, he was meditating, but he quickly fell asleep.

Scarlet grinned at Ciro's translation, glinting her fangs. She led the way into the hot springs house. The old man showed them to a small room. Two women came up behind her, and removed every scrap of her clothing, A third wrapped her in a cool natural fiber robe. The two then went to Ciro and stripped his garments. The third woman also wrapped him in a robe.
"To the pool!" Scarlet called and strode forward to the back wall. It slid to the side, revealing a huge natural pool edged with large black stones. Steam rose from the dark water and the humid air smelled sweetly of incense and tea. "Ahhh," Scarlet sighed. "Sweet luxury."

"hm?? why are going to a Temple? Goldschmitt, is this a detour?" Val asked, nervous about straying from the course of a plan that he wasn't even fully filled in on. he didn't actively try to stop them, though.

"Oh this looks splendid," Ciro remarked as he walked over and tested the waters. The heat felt wonderful on his cold flesh. Walking to a deeper part of the spring, he faced away from the water, removed his robe, held his arms out to the side and fell backwards into the warm waters. Not exactly the best way to enter an onsen, what with the large splash, but Ciro found it relaxing. Surfacing, Ciro turned to address Scarlet. "This is just as wonderful as I expected. The water, the air, the moonlight, you--just perfect." He had a large grin on his face.

"Well, you can go on ahead to the springs," Alfons said to Val. "There's something I have to do at a shrine near Mt. Ontake." Alfons's face was stoic; it was quite the poker face--elusive, hard to read, yet focused.
"I can see the station now. Say hello to Scarlet and Ciro for me when you get to the resort." The limo pulled up to the drop off area and Alfons and Dmitri got out.

Present:
"Boss, ve have company in next car," Dmitri noted. He was sitting on one of the benches, looking out of the corner of his eye at the potential threat.
"I'm aware of that, my friend," Alfons replied. He was standing, facing away from the car the other group was in. The car the two were in was empty. The few Japanese that were in it went to the next car over when they first got on the train.

Manguusu snapped awake, breathing heavy and sweating. "What a nightmare," he thought, "so much bloodshed near home... this is a bad sign."

Scarlet shed her robe and entered the water. The minerals soaked into her dead flesh as the heat brought almost a life-like flush to her skin. It felt so good to be back in her hot springs. She smiled at Ciro and wrapped her long white arms around his strong neck and gazed into his one good eye.
"I'm so glad you're here with me. It's more fun, don't you think, to bathe in the moonlight with a companion. Soon the others will be here, but until then..." she paused to trace a swirling, looping pattern down one of his arms with her dark fingernail. Under the water, one of her smooth legs hooked behind his. "Until then, we should completely enjoy ourselves, ne?"

Valthier wanted to follow Alfons, but knew it was best he didn't; Mouse would need to get to the Springs soon. she was already becoming fatigued. he began to walk up the road to the Hot Springs.
the road climbed elevation quite a bit, and eventually Val picked Mouse up and carried her the rest of the way. it's a good thing I bought her that coat. he told himself, as she was shivering from both the cold outside and the cold from his grip.
along the way, Val noticed a little traveler's shrine on the side of the road. he stopped at it and payed his respects. he made a prayer to the Spirit of the shrine, pleading for Mouse to be warm and safe for the rest of the journey. he made appropriate gestures and a sort of simplistic dance to placate it.

Ciro wrapped his arms around Scarlet and gave her a long kiss as his answer.

Alfons was puzzling out his next series of moves. He knew that the gang in the other car was aware of his destination. "There's no real way to lose them...." Alfons pondered and pondered, until he finally came to a solution. "Dmitri."
"Yeah?"
"I have an idea. I'm going to call the police and report sightings of armed men on this train and give them its next stop."
"Then vhat?"
"We make our way to the front of the train and jump."

Manguusu walked at a faster pace than usual, headed for a train station. He had thanked the monks that were still awake for their hospitality as he left earlier. "I must get home." he thought, still concerned over his dream.

Manguusu *OH LAHDY NAUGHTY STUFF HAPPENIN' HIDE YO KIDS* ---------------------------------------------------- Scarlet lounged against Ciro, afterglow making her ruby red eyes sparkle in the night. She looked up at the sky and automatically calculated the time by the position of the moon and stars. She sat up, suddenly perturbed. "They should have been here by now," she murmured to herself. "If something has happend to my guests, I will be most upset." She climbed out of the pool and didn't bother to wrap up in a towel or robe as she strode into the bath house. Her elderly steward met her. Used to her inhibited ways, he just bowed low. "Has anyone else arrived yet?" she demanded, hands on hips. "No, Miss Frost. We have been keeping a vigilant watch on the road, waiting for them," he replied Scarlet cursed. She shouldn't have left them in that slow car--too many things could go wrong between the airport and the hot spring resort, espeically if she wasn't around. "Ready some fresh clothing for my companion and I. We're going out to look for them," she instructed. "At once, Miss Frost."

"Are you crazy?!" Dmitri uttered in a harsh whisper.
"It's the best way to avoid the criminals following us," Alfons countered. He pulled out his cellphone and looked up the number to a police station in the upcoming town. Dialing it, he gave a very good performance of a terrified person. Hanging up, Alfons motioned to Dmitri to move.

Ciro was just as concerned as Scarlet. As the steward ran to get some clothes he made his way out of the spring to towel off. "What do you think's taking them so long?" Ciro asked Scarlet. "I do hope they're not in trouble."

"What do you mean the next train's been delayed?!" Manguusu asked impatiently. "I have urgent business in Takayama!"
"Sorry sir, but there's been a report of armed men holding people up on the previous train to there."
Manguusu's eyes widened. "It's just as I'd feared," he thought.
