Scathach walked out into the courtyard, looking around and trying to get her bearings. This school was obnoxiously large, and confusing, not set up in the simple way that her palace back home had been. She strolled across the path with a long legged, confident stride and that perpatual smirk plastered on her face. A smirk that said, I know something you don't, and I'm about to use it against you. Of course, she didn't really, it was simply and expression of contentment that she'd acquired over the years. When she walked straight into the path of some cigarette smoke she frowned and wrinkled her nose, looking around for the source. When she spotted the blond girl in the red, Scathach walked over to her and said with a smirk, "You know, those things are extremely unhealthy." Her Irish accent lilted in slight amusement at the girl smoking here on school grounds, where a little way off there was obviously a "Drug Free Environment" sign. The Irish girl had to admire the way this girl so blatantly ignored the rules.

 if i seem bleak ░ ◯░ well you'd be correct ░ ◯░ and if i don't speak ░ ◯░ it's cause i can't disconnect ░ ◯░Ксенія Мéльник░ ◯░ KSENIYA MELNYK░ was Kseniya's blunt reply. "Do you wish to live to be old and useless? I do not." Her voice had a strong Eastern European feel to it. A hint of a scratchy edge suggested that the cigarettes were a long time habit. (As indeed they were. She had been smoking on and off since she was ten and started stealing cigarettes from her grandfather's jacket.) She gave the redheaded Irish girl a look of blunt confrontation as she continued, idly brush a bit of ash off her arm. "Should I walk all the way to the town just to have a damn smoke? I think not. It is concession enough that I smoke out here and not inside." Kseniya took a pointed drag, watching Scathach patiently for a response. but i won't be ░ ◯░ burned by the reflection ░ ◯░ of the fire in your eyes ░ ◯░ as you're staring at the sun

Scathach chuckled, shrugging at the girl's words about life being unhealthy, "Aye, I know that well enough. But I'd rather die in a battle than die of lung cancer. At least fighting is worth something." She brushed a lock of hair from her face and watched the girl with a steady gaze, nodding once, "Nay, walking all the way to town would be a waste. And smoking as long as you have been, I doubt you'd make it without stopping for a rest or two." She held out her hand, "I'm Scathach, by the way. Figured I should introduce myself. You know, be polite and all that."

It was hard to tell if Kseniya approved of Scathach's preference for a glorious battlefield demise or not. There was no change in her expression until the comment about being unable to walk to the town without a break or two. At that, a faint furrow formed between her brows. "Do you mean to say you think I am some weakling?" Kseniya demanded. Ignoring the outstretched hand, she crossed her arms pointedly, the cigarette grasped between one finger and thumb. "You are a busybody, Scathach. Very annoying." After a moment's thought, she gave her name grudgingly. Scathach shook her head, "I never said you were weak. I was implying that the more you smoke, the weaker your lungs become, which will inadvertently weaken your body." She took her hand back and adopted the same stance that Kseniya had, although her expression was slightly confused, "A busybody? I don't believe I understand the word." Where she came from, they had no such term. The comment about her being annoying hardly phased her. How would this girl know she was annoying if she had just met her?

Scathach nodded at the girl's explanation, then touched her hair, "A furry hat?" She chuckled, then laughed, shaking her head and dropping her hand, "Well that's a new one." She fisted her hand over her heart and bowed slightly in a gesture of respect that was common in her country, "I apologize for offending you in any way, shape or form. I shall curb my tongue from here on out." She held that pose for a moment, then stood up straight and laughed, "Ok, no. I won't. But at least now I know what pisses you off, so I can expect a slap in the face when I do."

At least, the approving stare she gave Scathach had a hint of an upward curve on her thin-lipped mouth. "Acceptable. At least you're honest. I like that." The Ukrainian girl took a final long drag on her cigarette, then took a few steps towards a nearby trash can, thoroughly snuffing the smoldering cylinder on the side then tossing the butt in. She gave Scathach a curious look. "You're Irish, correct?" but i won't be ░ ◯░ burned by the reflection ░ ◯░ of the fire in your eyes ░ ◯░ as you're staring at the sun

Scathach chuckled, she was always honest. But also very outspoken. If she was thinking it, chances were that it was coming out of her mouth. When Kseniya asked about her nationality, the princess nodded and smirked, "Aye lass, born and raised. Most beautiful country in the world. Why do you ask?"

Jolly little leprechauns with exaggerated Irish accents weren't a common theme on Ukrainian TV. Kseniya was secretly proud of herself for guessing it right. She thought for a moment. "Nice to know I won't be the only foreigner here. Not that I should give two damns if it was the case." Mavi grinned, and asked, "So, are you in a band? I've been mostly solo all this time. I perform with friends sometimes but... looks like that's going to be slowed down for a while." She glanced about the courtyard, and wondered just how long exactly she'd need to stay here to learn to manage her abilities. She was looking forward to her new adventure, yeah, but she couldn't help but miss her friends already.

Scathach smirked, "Well, if we'r guessing accents.... I'd say you are Russian? Or perhaps Ukrainian?" SHe brushed her hair thourhg her short hair, Furry hat... The thought made her smirk, then she came back to reality and said, "Foreigner? Never thought of myself like that. I like to say that I'm an ambassador." Or an exile. But she didn't like to think of herself this way. She hadn't really been exiled.... It was more like putting her in a time-out. A time-out that would last a few years, but a time-out nonetheless.

Their accents are uglier." To someone from Ukraine the difference was clear, and Kseniya never understood why outsiders thought the accents sounded remotely alike. "Ambassador, hm?" Kseniya gave a rude snort. She shot a glance towards the flirting pair some feet away. Might as well give them space, flirting was always sickening to watch. Turning her attention back to Scathach, she raised her eyebrows. "Well, Ambassador Scathach. Scathach nodded when the other girl differentiated between the two accents, "Sorry for my mistake. And I really mean it this time, because I know how that feels. Everyone seems to get Scottish and Irish mixed up, when we sure as hell don't sound a lick alike." She chuckled, "I our case, it's the Scotts who have the uglier accent." She followed Kseniya's gaze towards the two kids across the way, raising her eyebrow as she fought the urge to call out something rude to them. The only thing that stopped her was Kseniya speaking to her. Scathach looked back at the girl and nodded, "Sure, why not? I just got here not too long ago, so I haven't had a chance to see everything."
