Seeing Jade's nod, David turned back towards Karonashi, only to be greeted by his short explanation and showing of his headband. It must have been hidden by the boy's shirt before or something. Blinking in confusion, David stared at it for a few seconds. "Since when do we give academy students headbands,, and then keep them in the academy for another whole year? Usually if something like that happens, the headband is taken away." He muttered, plenty loud for everyone to hear him. No matter, he was still a student, headband or not, and he had permission to test him now. How did they test students again?

Rolling up his scroll and stuffing it back in his satchel, David turned his full gaze back on his new student. "Alright, I've been an instructor for all of an hour now, and nobody told me how tests are done, so I'm just going to bullshit this one." He stated, a slight grin crawling across his face. "Hit me even once, and you pass." The grin was now fully formed as he took a few steps backwards, holding up his right hand. "Start!" He exclaimed, signaling that the boy should make his move, whatever it may be.

David's grin became a smirk as he felt the sand under his feet begin to slide, and Karo make a move. It didn't matter though, as after sliding with the sand a mere inch, he stopped, suspended in the air about an inch off of the sands. Flicking his wrist as the boy got close, he brought up a short wall out of the sand, just enough to block the boy's advance as he settled back onto the ground and bounced back another several feet, moving as if the sand were solid stone as he didn't sink in as most people would. "Clever use of jutsu, and a good attack. Two points." David called out as the short wall dropped back into the dunes, vanishing as quickly as it came. That move probably would have done it for a lesser skilled, non Ichibi host. But to David it was simple to evade. If only because he was in his element.

David's eyes followed closely as Karo popped over the top of his collapsing wall and launched himself at him. A good save, but rather too rough for his taste. Simply stepping to the side, and turning his body, David put himself out of range so that even if Karo twisted himself sideways he'd be unable to touch him. "No point. Tackling maneuvers only work if the opponent isn't prepared to dodge or block." He had to wonder what this boy would show him next. He didn't know much about him, and hadn't really taught him much, but, if he was genin material, he would pull off something to prove himself. Though he supposed it was probably rather cruel to give him an impossible task as his test.

David let out an appreciative whistle, even as he sidestepped away from the boy's attack once more. Doing a handspring like that to change trajectory was pretty impressive, especially since he'd managed to do it in the thick sand. "Two points for improvisation." He called out, insisting on keeping up his meaningless tally. "You'll need to do something less straight forward though, if you want to hit me." He reminded him. Impressive moves were great, but useless if the opponent could still avoid them.

David's eyes followed closely all through the older boy's moves, picking apart his actions as thoroughly as he could. The technique was once again impressive, and he showed good improvisation skills. yet, he was still attacking straight on with tackling maneuvers. Perhaps that was just the way he fought? Regardless, it would be rather useless against David. As the boy dove forward, spreading his arms in an apparent effort to trap him, David couldn't help a sigh. It was a great move for a surprise attack, but against David, in the desert, from the front? Suicide.

Stomping his foot even while Karo was still in the air, David didn't even move from his place. Three ropes of sand rose up from the ground, two intercepting and wrapping around the boy's arms, and the other around his legs, all three yanking him around until he was held upright in midair in front of David. Stepping closer to the boy, David stared at him for a few seconds, as if trying to make up his mind. "You are good at improvisation, that much is obvious." He nodded along with his own words. "Your attacks seem to be straight forward, but I suppose that's partly my fault for not giving you much option." He said, shrugging at the end. Looking the boy over for a few more seconds, he nodded, the sand releasing it's grip on him and dispersing into the wind. "Congratulations. You pass." He had grown bored with the fight, and the boy had proven himself rather nicely, so he saw no harm in passing him. "Go get some rest and something to eat, and we can find something more to teach you later." The boy finished, waving Karo in the direction of the town. David had some stuff he wanted to do himself, and he supposed it would be prudent to gather some more material to teach the boy with, not to mention the things David still needed himself. Such as a new headband.

David frowned as he watched Karonashi leave. Had he upset the boy somehow? He hadn't intended to. But then, he didn't intend to upset a lot of people who he met. Shrugging once more, he figured the boy would get over whatever it was, or work it out, or something. Glancing back at the kazekage's clone, he gave her a wave, before suddenly sinking into the ground, vanishing completely in an instant. This had become one of his favored forms of travel somehow, and he rather enjoyed it, so, under the sand, he took off rapidly in the direction of town. Or more specifically, that hole he'd fallen into. That was a mystery he'd rather solve sooner than later.

The boy grabbed on to the third piece of wood, and with his kunai he began to once again craft into the wood, making much sleeker, leaving a hole in each edge of the wood. He dropped the piece of wood and he placed it within the sand, along with the other pieces he had already made. " I wonder what that man wanted..." He commented, referring to the man that was frantically knocking the door of the office. Saying this the boy reached for the last slab of wood, which he also began to craft with his kunai, slowly slicing off parts of wood, once this piece, the last one, was a sleek as the others before it he would place it on the ground and turn around and grab four knife-like slabs of metal. Those knives would serve as the puppet's legs, which allows it to have a very fine slashing point, it was good for the grip, and it would have a devastating stab value since at the thickest part of the metal was three inches, which, for a four inch piece of sharp metal, it was a lot. He placed the four metal knives on the ground beside them. " Alright, before I set the weapons in the wooden legs, let me prepare the piece that will set them together on the body itself..." He said to himself as he grabbed a small piece of wood, along with four pistons which he would later on use on the legs.

Once he held on to the pistons he made a series of seals, and gathered chakra on to his entire body, he moved that chakra to the ground and then he erected a clone with that chakra, a clone made out of stone. " Alright, hold here." Akura said, handing the clone the pistons.
