"Ulani uses hers to show the others where the slavers are," Lin explained, "Though I've only seen it once, normally I'm off in the barracks with Elros."
Granted that was a long time ago but her last two trips she had talked to Timeus, and the other one she had came after everyone left for the hunt. She might have seen Lothiriel's too, because she also recalled someone talking about the difference colours, but she couldn't remember all the colours nor the time and place where the conversation took place.

Earendil nodded. "White. Yes, she would be able to do the same then. The Master Stones have the power of all the stones."
He looked down at her. "You've never seen anyone receive their stones, have you?" he asked. He pursed his lips thoughtfully. "Leyenda will probably be receiving hers when we return home, at the rate we're going ..."

"Really?"
Lin was interested in that, because to her understanding the stones changed colour depending on who picked them up. Which was out Earendil would get blue and Ulani would get white.
"That would be interesting...."

Earendil grinned at Lin. "You'll have to stay and watch then. It really is quite fascinating. On the occasion that they're not around for their nineteenth birthday, the stones will be sent to them - or, in Leyenda's case, since we're not exactly anywhere where she could receive the stones, they would receive them late instead."
He bit his lip slightly. "I only wish I could tell you how it feels to receive them ... I have never before and never since felt so much power ... even when using them ..."

Lin couldn't imagine, though it occurred to her randomly that Elnara had never received such stones. It might seem odd to think that since Elnara was part of her family, but Lin had come to view family in very loose terms. It was, though she could never explain it very possible to be part of both families.
"It's okay, it's one of those hard to explain things," Lin replied.
It would be like Elros trying to describe the perfection of life before it was tainted, not possible.

Earendil chuckled. "Yes, that's accurate. Perhaps if you were to see it you might understand a bit."
He wished there were more of his culture that could be shared with Lin, but so much of it was really meaningless for those who were not elves ...

Lin blinked at him for a moment, perhaps when she wasn't traveling that is what she would do. Spend time to understand the culture, become a part of it. Goddesses know, she wasn't going to be hanging around humans any time soon, even if she could be mistaken for a winged one. No... she was happier to hang around elves, though visiting the Human Southland sounded interesting.
"If I get a chance to yes...." Lin murmured.
She wasn't sure how likely that was, though she supposed if she stuck around Leyenda until it happened then she would see.

Earendil paused mid-step and knelt to return the stones to their hiding place in his boot. "I'm sure you will," he murmured. "Let's face it. Leyenda's nearly eighteen, and this is only the first land we've discovered ... if there is even only one more, she will definitely be at least nineteen by the time we return home, possibly even older."
He smiled and straightened again. "I really hope you're not in any hurry to get back."

"Of course not," Lin replied, "We only just begun. Who knows what else is out there?"
Maybe other kinds of people, maybe other races (who knew it was possible), or maybe other species or islands that haven't had a soul on them.

Earendil chuckled. "Indeed," he grinned. "Who knows."
And with that, he picked up the pace so that they could get back before another rainstorm hit them.
It was two days back to the beach, just as Kelirahc had first told them. At the beach, everything was as it had always been - save that Leyenda and Kelirahc were nowhere in sight.
It was Rhea who first spotted Earendil and Lin as they returned, and she called out to them and waved from where she was sewing near the shelter. She set her work aside and rose to her feet to greet them.
"Welcome back!" she called out brightly. "We were worried about you! That rain came up so suddenly - are you all right?"

"We're fine, we were far enough along the beach that when we went inland we found the village," Lin explained, "So we had shelter, stayed in Kelirahc's hut until the next day when the rain stopped."
She wondered what it looked like here where they had a clear view of the skies. It was a good thing they came back though if people were worried rather than stay out.

Rhea laughed. "Wow, that was far! Almost the other side of the island!" She smiled and tilted her head slightly. "And how is everyone there? All sheltered from the rain as well? Did you see Shiro?"
No one had heard from Shiro in well over a month, not since he had decided to stay with the Night Elves.

"Actually we don't know," Lin frowned at that, "Of course we arrived in the day time so no one was up, but when the rain stopped and we woke maybe an hour or two before sunrise? Maybe a bit more? There was no one out.... and I don't know where Shiro was staying."
She had assumed Shiro would have stayed in Kelirahc's hut but that wasn't the case.

At that, Rhea frowned. "Strange," she commented. "They were always so active at night ... no matter the circumstances."
She grew quiet, thoughtful. "Kelirahc I'm sure would know something more about this," she murmured. "But we don't even know where he and Leyenda are ... they've been gone nearly a week now. I'm sure they're all right, but ..."
"Perhaps we should look for them," Earendil suggested, his eyes glancing down towards his boot, where his elfstones were hidden.

"That would be wise," Lin murmured, "The reason why we came back was to ask Kelirahc about the weather patterns here. Rain isn't a bad thing, but I would like to know if it rains even harder than it already has and if it thunders at all, if it does we're going to need to be prepared for that."
Actually she should probably also ask if it floods at all, but that hadn't occurred until after she said everything else.
