Teagan came up from behind Nat and gave the same kind of smile. It was strange how they complimented each other even more as time had passed. "He's right, Damian... Just stick with us in the light of day, and you'll be alright."
Another retort was on his lips as soon as Nat had said his bit, but followed by Teagan's gentle reassurance, any words he had left died. Damian slowly nodded, even smiled. "Next time we all come together for dinner, I'll host. Maybe have some music as well. Sound good?" he asked. Lorey came out of the sunflower room just in time to hear this, and smiled.
"I think that sounds wonderful. Though it better be before two months passes, 'cause this baby's almost done baking." She patted her stomach. Childbirth still scared Lorey a bit, but she couldn't wait until the baby was born.

Richard came up behind her and smiled. "Agreed...God knows how rare sleep and quiet will be after that...but I still can't wait..." He placed a hand on Lorey's stomach from behind, leaning down to kiss the top of her head.
"Though thats still some time off... When the room's dry in here, I'll be able to start bringing in the furniture and toys and whatnot..." He smiled and nodded, glancing back at the room.
"I can help out with that tomorrow if you'd like Richard." Nat offered. "The paint should be dried by the time you go off on your trip. I'll have all the furniture set up by the time you get back. How's that sound." He smiled, trying a bit to keep the subject changed.
Richard seemed to think then nodded. "Only if you dont mind...It would be nice, ecspecially since I dont know if I like Lorey alone here..." He added, giving her shoulder a slight squeeze.

Lorey wanted to argue against that, since the area was so quiet, but she was a very pregnant woman. On the off chance something should happen, it would be good to have someone around, and Nat had become a good friend. Teagan, too.
"Don't worry, we'll be close to your darlin' sugar honey while you're gone," Teagan said, reveling in the corny pet name. "Though I'm sure nothing will happen."

Ricahrd laughed and blushed slightly. "Ah I know...It would just help put my mind at ease... It'll be my last big trip for awhile. I requested that I have some time off so I could help take care of the baby for awhile... and see where things go from there..." He smiled, rubbing Lorey's arm.
"But...I gotta suck it up one more time before I can be home with my girl." His eyes were soft and affectionate, though he realized Damian was probably becoming uncomfortable with all this. "Erm- Who wants some coffee?" He asked abruptly, Nat chiming in to help change the mood.
"Teagan brought some Coffee cake that looks amazing..I'll have some." He perked up, turning to head downstairs.

Damian was becoming very uncomfortable with all the love being passed between couples, and was very thankful when Richard picked up on it. "Coffee cake?" he asked, trying to seem rather excited about the idea. "I would love some. Teagan's an exceptional baker. But Lorey," he said, turning to her, "Dinner was just as amazing. Thank you for that."
Which earned a modest blush from her, though she was grinning from ear to ear. "Thanks, Damian. I've been trying while I'm home from the corner store. You meet the greatest people with the best recipes there."
The light banter continued back downstairs and into the porch area, where they all had their cake. The sun was setting, the crickets were singing, and it was the end of the summer. Things would begin to get a bit colder soon, but Lorey knew everything would be fine. Her and Richard had worked hard on their home, and the baby would have a cozy place to sleep for sure.

Soon enough though, it was getting a bit too dark, and Nat had gone to give Teagan a ride home, leaving Richard with the responsibility of dropping Damian off. He didn't mind in the least bit though, it gave the two men a chance to talk and simply relax a bit before they reached Damian's home.
There, Richard bid him goodnight, saying he'd be heading out the next morning and he'd check in later.

Meanwhile, Lorey was laying down on the couch with a book of baby names. They still hadn't decided on something, and the clock was ticking. As she glanced over elaborate or silly names, Lorey turned to the boy's section. One name stuck out for her: Jayden. There were so many different spellings, but she did like that name. Though for a girl... she just couldn't decide. When Richard came home, she'd be sure to sucker him in to having a conversation about this.

Sometime later, Richard returned home, tired but somewhat pleasant.
"Well...that went...well?" He sighed, hanging his jacket up as he came to join Lorey in the living room. He stopped, leaning against the doorway, taking her in a long moment.
Without a word, he came over, leaned down, and kissed her deeply, both hands cupping her face. He pulled back, his eyes serious if somewhat misty. "...I know what he's going through... Theres nothing worse than losing someone you love that much... I dont know how I could go on if I lost you Lorey....." He admitted, kneeling down next to her.

Lorey set down her book and cupped his face in her hand, too. He was such a dear man, and she loved him with all her heart. "Don't think I'm any different with you," she said softly. "If you made it through, though, I think Damian will, too. You're both strong people." She leaned forward to kiss him again, though found it a bit difficult since she was so sunken into the couch. It made her laugh, and inch her finger for him to come closer. "But don't think about what would happen if you lost me. Think about what we're going to have in two months..."

Richard smiled, placing one hand behind her head loving, the other resting on her stomach as he leaned down and kissed it tenderly. "This child...is going to have every opportunity to fulfill any dream they could possibly have..." He whispered, almost as if talking to the baby and not Lorey. "They'll always have a roof over their heads...always food in their belly's...and always feel loved..." he kissed her bulging belly once more, stroking her hair with his other hand.

"And always have a loving father," she added, smiling every time he kissed her stomach. "Always have our support, get an education... It may not be easy, but we'll do it. I know we will." One hand was placed over his while the other toyed with his hair a bit. How she had come to this wonderful place, to lead such a wonderful life after all her misery, was still beyond her. But, Lorey was certainly not going to search for answers any further than just knowing she was lucky.

"They'll have the perfect life hm?" He smiled softly, kissing her lips gingerly before going off into a mini tyrant of sweet nothings until he realized how late it was.
He'd have to get up early to leave the next morning so he suggested they head off for sleep.
He had promised to call everyday and check on her, and hurry back as soon as he could.

And so, they both went upstairs to change and sleep before Richard had to go for his trip. Lorey hated the idea of him leaving, but it was just for a few days, she told herself. Just a few days, and then he would be back for her to hold and kiss like always.
She went to sleep feeling happy, though, that Damian was back in the land of the living. that was an accomplishment she could feel good about.

--------
Richard had finally returned home a few days later, and after his strange phone call to his love. He made it in the door, smiling and eyes looking red. "Lorey!? Lorelee!" He called out to her somewhere in the house. He just wanted to throw his arms about her and let her know how much she meant to him.

Lorey came out from the kitchen, looking worried and upset. She knew the stress wouldn't hurt the baby too much, but she did want to find out just why he had called and hadn't returned home for hours later. "Richard?" she said, walking towards him as fast as she could. "Richard, what's wrong? Why are your eyes all puffy? What happened?"
