The guard nodded his head looking around "many grow up here and then die here" he said looking sad "the last reign of king and queen were not kind on the people"

Selina looked around, moving to check behind the sheets to see if there were any people behind them. "This is . . . horrible . . ." she murmured softly.

The guard made a gulping sound "yes it is" he said as he listened to a baby crying. "Some employers won't allow women to bring their babies in and so the children are left at home"

Selina heard the crying baby and followed the sound. "This isn't right. I want to fix this." she said, her face set and determined. She couldn't stand knowing that this was how the children lived . . . It was absolutely awful!

The baby was crying under a thin sheet of something or other, could have been dirt, it was that fine. The guard watched her carefully "I know" he whispered. "Yet that was the regin of the last king, queen and prince" he said softly

Selina picked up the baby, holding it close. She frowned and then placed the babe carefully back where it had been and then started ripping her gown. She then covered the baby with the fabric, figuring that it was warmer than whatever had been covering the child before. She picked up the child again, wrapping the make-shift blanket around the baby as she bounced slightly. "Shh . . . shh . . ." she whispered out soothingly.

The guard watched Selina deal with the baby and smiled at the tenderness of the girl as she held it. The baby quietened and then the guard spoke up "would you like to take it back? I'm sure the parents will be gald to know its in a safe position" the guard said playing it safe as he didn't know if the baby was a boy or girl

Selina bit her lower lip. "But . . . won't the parents worry . . . they won't know who took their baby will they?" she asked softly, still bouncing the baby gently.

The guard brought out a scarp piece of paper and wrote a message on it before placing it where the baby had been under a piece of paper. "There, they should know now" he said smiling "the baby will be a lot safer within the palace"

Selina sighed and then smiled. "Thank you." she said and then looked around. "I'll help fix this . . . No one should have to live in conditions like this . . ." she murmured softly, holding the baby, making sure it was still wrapped up in it's make-shift blanket.

Selina nodded. "I know . . . which is why I want to change this . . ." she murmured, while her mind wandered back to Laung. How could he agree to something like this? "Let's go back . . ." she murmured softly as she started heading back to the castle.

The guard nodded and watched Selina go. He then went back to standing on guard at the gate, chatting at the same time through
Laung was at the castle door waiting for Selina and then he looked up at her "Selina!" he cried out. He was worried about her
