Connor looked confused for a moment, then brightened. "Oh, that's right, I forgot that you were just recently assigned to us. Well, the various governments who steward EuroLabs have long been trying to get a firmer grip on it. Control and such. "Lately, they've even been talking - not openly, of course - about fully taking over. This event could very well have been the push that they needed. They can claim this is an international security risk and commandeer the facilities." He sighed. "So I guess that's out..."

Kurtis sighs. "And there goes EuroLabs' productivity. Any other ideas?"

Tiki turned around, raising a hand, then opened his mouth to speak. But didn't. The others, as well as Tiki, all realized something simultaneously: He could no longer speak.

Richard was right behind John every step of the way. He mimicked St. Cyrill's monocular with a pair of binoculars and examined what he was talking about. Yes, that was indeed how they were. The best thing for it would be a diversion, some sort of noise that would make them think they were needed elsewhere. If he just made some noise here, they'd probably group up or get reinforcements nearer.
"How do you suggest we get the guards away?" he inquired dubiously.

St. Cyrill's hand drooped, his face clouded. "Look," he said finally. "I don't believe in this s**t. But...I saw you..."jump." Or teleport, or whatever it was. I might think it's total s**t, but right now that's about our only chance."

Richard froze. Dangit. He was right. He had to go through with it. "Okay," he said. "Hold this." He dropped the G36 and got to a crouch, moving forward rapidly but not at full tilt yet. He needed to be about fourty yards - twenty to sprint, twenty to jump, then jump again, again, again... if he could just keep rolling he could probably just keep jumping.
Once at a safe distance, he drew his USP, stood, and started sprinting, firing as carefully as he could. At twenty yards he would throw himself into a dive, come up at Niola's position, then roll again. And again if necessary. However far to get clear.

Esther squeaked with suprise at the sudden movement, and debated on whether or not it was a good idea to buckle her seat belt. Seatbelt seemed safest, so she fixed that quickly, and looked behind them worriedly. And just when she had been hoping all would go well.

The men turned, but they didn't see Richard. This was because their eyes were drawn to St. Cyrill, who cracked off two shots, killing one of them. While the rest dove for cover or returned fire, Richard popped up next to Niola. He rolled, grabbing her, and....nothing. They just rolled.
Headlights became visible. "They must have caught on," Gray murmured. "Take the wheel!" he said, climbing into the back seat. He drew his gun.

Xander reluctantly accepted Tiki's help but shrugged him off immediately after. As they drove, he suddenly realized Tiki's lack of vocal activity, "You...can't speak?" he asked to clarify, "s**t! Does that mean something is going to happen to my back?"

Ah, crap. Once he came up from the roll he just sprinted, dragging her behind him come hell or high water. Whenever possible he snapped off a few shots from his USP at persons, but was quickly running into the trouble of changing magazines. Given that one hand was occupied dragging Niola, it didn't work. He made straight for the trees with every bit of speed he could manage, but he knew he probably wouldn't make it at this rate; he needed a miracle.

Tiki shrugged. "I doubt it," Connor said. "TIki was out like a light for a few hours, and was weak for a long time after that. You were just fine as soon as you woke up. I think we can say that the stuff...well, we'll say 'resonated' better with you than with him."
Richard got his miracle. St. Cyrill was behind cover, opening fire on the men. One of them, a young lad, managed to sneak behind his position. He raised his gun. St. Cyrill got a sort of soldiers' sense, spinning and firing as he went. The boy's bullet tore into his shoulder, the rest of his shots going into the air as he fell back. St. Cyrill cried out. Realizing that Richard and Niola needed him, he gritted his teeth and got back into position. He began firing again, his shots scattering because he had trouble focusing. He hit a car, a tree, and a small stone wall. All three exploded. St. Cyrill, unaware, kept firing, keeping the drug runners dashing for cover.

"Get clear!" Richard shouted, dragging Niola into the trees. "Bring me my rifle!" He didn't have much more to say or do; he moved towards St. Cyrill to get him away.

The mercs and scientists were again on the road. "Where to next?" Connor asked. "We still need to run tests and maybe get medical checks."
St. Cyrill kept the fire up until Richard returned. "We have to get out of here!" he shouted over his gun.

"Right," Richard responded, picking up the G36C and pulling a smoke grenade from his vest. He pulled the pin from his vest and dropped it into the foliage. Almost immediately thick gouts of smoke began to pour from it; they'd last for maybe twenty minutes. ((That's seriously how long it goes.)) "Let's go!" he shouted and turned to run.
