Kasiya isn't mean... Mai had to remind herself, frowning. How am I going to do this? "Sorry," she murmured, kicking the ground a bit, and trying to remember her sister's mannerisms. "A fight? Ooh, did we win?" she asked suddenly, but then realized it was a very dumb thing to say. "Of course we did," she said quickly, before Keegan could respond. "Yeah, let's get outta here. This scenery is starting to bore me." When Keegan took her hand though, something unexpected happened. It felt as though she had placed her hand within the flaming mane of a tamed Rapidash - warm and gentle and full of fiery passion - and she felt her heart flutter a bit. Damn it, she thought, struggling to catch her breath. Kasiya's mushy feelings must be lingering... She couldn't help but smile back when he smiled at her though, again noting that he was indeed quite attractive. "I love battling with you too," she replied, looking up at the Vulpix a bit apologetically. Heh, Kasiya's such a short little runt, she mused, remembering the one time she had met Keegan she stood at nearly eye level to him, but was in fact maybe an inch or so taller. Not really sure what she was doing, she stopped the young man by grabbing his left arm and turning him so he would face her. She stood up on tiptoes, running her hand across his chest and tugging on his shirt a bit to pull him to her. A very devious grin was playing on her lips as she kissed him, allowing her other hand the freedom to do a little wandering.
=-=-=-=-=
Deciding she'd had enough of Giovanni's overwhelming presence, Kasiya quickly shook her head and smiled nervously. "It's all right, S-sir," she said, giving a little bow as she began to back out of the office. "Pleasure to meet you, Mr Cero," she added, reaching out to shake Ampersand's hand before she politely excused herself and nearly ran from the office, feeling as though her heart was going to burst through her chest at any given moment. She recognized the area she was in, although the layout of the base (obviously the one in Viridian) was still mostly a mystery to her. She shot a glance at Giovanni's office over her shoulder as she picked a random hallway and followed it, remembering the Rocket Boss' words as she walked. Second in command? she thought, puzzled. Then does that mean...? She toyed with a lock of soft blonde hair, realizing she knew only one person with hair that shade. Looking around she spotted a mirror on the wall, obviously for decoration. Shaking a bit, she walked up to it and closed her eyes, terrified of who would be looking back at her. When she opened her eyes, her heart sank into her stomach as she stared into the icy blue eyes of her sister. "Mai."

(( exclaim )) Someone is acting strange today, Keegan thought, reaching up to pet the Vulpix perched on his shoulder. Helios happily nuzzled against him, and Keegan sighed with the realization that everything felt perfect. Kasiya's hand on his arm, though, pulled him out of his thoughts before they could even form, and while she was indeed acting quite strangly he rather much liked the look she was giving him. Rolling his eyes Helios hopped down from his trainer's shoulder, and was promptly recalled a moment later. Making a mental note to swap his party around later, Keegan was more than happy to kiss her back. This is new, he thought, smiling on the inside. I like it. However, his eyes did open wide when he felt her hands on him. Somewhat alarmed, he gently took her shoulders in his hands and pulled back, looking her in the eye, confusion evident on his face. There was definitely something... different about her, although it was hard to place. It was as though she'd just aged five years within the last ten minutes, and it was throwing him off. "What are you doing?" he asked, a serious tone in his voice. "What has gotten into you today?"
Edited a bit.

Napalm's Ember shot forth with alarming speed, catching the Mightyena off guard. The spread out pattern peppered the Dark Pokemon, stray clumps of fur dancing with the waves of heat emanating from the fiery attack. Furious and still feeling the effect of the Howl, the opposing Pokemon charged, crashing his body into the Magby. The difference in size and the pure force of the blow knocked Napalm back, the little fire type having to dig his claws into the ground to keep his balance.
Mike knew that this fight was relatively in the bag. He also knew that while Napalm was a tough little guy, he wouldn't last much longer. The Mightyena had a visible stagger to his step, and his formally slick coat was mangled and burnt. He had to end it now or the only option would be to retreat. "One more full power blast outta do it!" shouted the boy, fully enjoying the fact that Napalm's skills were increasing drastically in such a short amount of time.
Agreeing that it was time to finish this battle, Napalm was happy to comply. The little Pokemon closed his eyes for a quick moment, drawing the air into his internal fire sac. His insides ignited, causing his body to erupt in scarlet flames. The Magby pulled his beak into a smile, it felt so good to do this move, even if it did take a lot out of him. The Mightyena, not wishing to get hit with that move again, took off in hopes to beat the little Magby to the punch. The wolf tore his claws into the ground, running at full speed. Napalm threw his head back, shooting fire straight up. The flames churned inside an invisible barrier, forming a giant fireball. The Mightyena picked up speed, lowering his head. He was going to take out this little runt if it was the last thing he did.
This was too close, Napalm would get hit if he didn't act quickly. "Napalm, quick! Fire! Fire!!" Mike screamed, his hands clenched so tight that it hurt.
The Magby opened his eyes, jumping slightly at the sight of a very angry Mightyena closing in fast. Halting the formation of the attack, Napalm let out a shout, hopping back into the air and launching the Overheat straight at the ground in front of his opponent. The Dark Pokemon saw the move and dug his feet into the ground in hopes to stop, but it was too late. The ball of fire hit the ground, causing yet another explosion that granted the once simple and serene land a new smoldering crater. The Mightyena was thrown back and sent limply crashing to the ground. Smoke rose from the Pokemon's body as it attempted to stand, but collapsed in a heap.
Mike wiped the sweat from his brow, breathing another sigh of relief. "That was far too close little buddy!" He chuckled, walking over to his victorious Magby. "Let's go get you healed and see if we can't find you a new move to learn." Napalm cooed in delight at the thought of a new move, and happily followed as his trainer began on the route back to Lilycove.
((Damn, that took forever to write.))

The walk back to Lilycove was uneventful, but the boy and his Pokemon kind of wanted it that way. The last fight they had was rather intense, what with Mike being this close to having a wild Pokemon chomp on him for a snack. He was spirited and stubborn, but he wasn't to the point of stupidity. He wasn't about to pick fights with wild animals. As the duo walked along the quiet path, Mike looked down at Napalm and smiled. "You did good." said the boy. "Real good. I'm proud of you." No matter how many Pokemon he raised, there was just something special about watching his friends grow and get stronger. Even since a few days ago he could notice that Napalm had gotten taller. It was enough to get him misty eyed.
Within about ten minutes the two had made it to the entrance to the city. Thankfully the Pokemon Center was a stone's throw away, something Mike always loved about this place. It was very easy for a trainer to just run in, heal and leave without taking too much time away from training. As the boy entered the Center, he recalled his Pokemon, handing it to Nurse Joy. After the usual pleasantries, Joy took Napalm's Pokeball and walked into the treatment room, telling Mike that it would only be a moment.
He took that moment to sit back and relax on the couch against the wall. He was still a little shaken up about that encounter with the Mightyena, so some slow deep breathing would do him some good. Releasing Portabello, the two wordlessly took the free time to get in touch with their inner spirituality, human and Pokemon sharing a zen moment of meditation in silence.

A little disappointed that he had broken the kiss, Mai smiled innocently - a perfect innocent Kasiya smile - and ran her fingers along his arm. "Just having a little fun," she said truthfully. "Aren't you having fun?" she asked, maintaining the innocent demeanor. I guess Kasiya is pretty mild when it comes to this kind of thing, she thought, but shrugged off the thought. After all, her sister was only still a child, so she couldn't expect much more than that. She's got her hooks in him though, that's for sure, the Rocket in disguise mused, but at the same time, she was somehow comforted by the fact that Keegan cared for her so much. Comforted, and quite envious, as well. Envious because her relationship wasn't restrained by her work or her boss, and Mai found herself also feeling a little guilty for toying with Keegan when she still cared for Leo. She shook her head, banishing her thoughts and turning her sights on the now. The lunatic doctor's crazed plan had worked, and she was there, in Kasiya's place (and hopefully) not going too far from her sister's normal persona. She didn't know how long the swap would last, so it wouldn't hurt to do a little reconnaissance and figure out just what those brats were planning.
She looked up at Keegan and smiled again. "We should head back," she said, nodding. "We have Pokemon in need of treatment." She wriggled out of his grip, and motioned for him to follower her.

While it may have been true that Miharu didn’t lose her temper often, it was also true that it didn’t take much to set her off. The boy’s comments towards her were easily enough to light her short fuse, and her fingers were dancing over the row of Pokeballs on her belt. She was tired of being judged based upon her size, and always having to prove herself. “You’re crazy, kid!” he retorted, already holding up a Pokeball. “I’m not going to hold back just because you’re a little girl!” With a flick of his wrist he tossed the sphere, from it came a small, brown Pokemon with a long, striped tail, a Sentret.
“You’re gonna be sorry for that,” she growled at the boy, grabbing the second-last Pokeball in line. Granted, at least he didn’t call her a boy, but that wasn’t the point. “Okay Sparkle, here we go!” She threw the Mareep’s Pokeball with a lot more force than was necessary, and the small electric sheep appeared, bristling with energy, as usual. “Tackle attack!” she shouted, pointing at the Sentret. Bleating loudly, the Mareep charged forward, lowering her head as she attempted to slam her body into the normal type. Much quicker, however, the Sentret jumped up and over the charging electric type and lashed out with a quick Scratch to start things off.

"I never said it wasn't fun," Keegan admitted quickly, yawning a bit. "It's just not like you to act so... bold," he said, choosing the last word carefully. "But there was that one time after your gym battle, so I dunno really. You're full of surprises, Kassie." If he only knew, though. She then seemed to get lost in thought, and he quickly looked around, making sure nothing had been left behind. He'd packed up their picnic stuff before the battle with Sheridan's two goons started, so all he had to do was get the bag. Slinging it over his shoulder he began to follow after Kasiya, blinking a little when he realized she even seemed to be walking differently. I'd really like to know what's up with her all of a sudden, he thought, but then realized that maybe she was still annoyed with Sheridan - the haughty woman had hadn't paid her any attention at all and she may have been feeling the need to act a little more grown up all of a sudden. Keegan shook his head though, knowing very well that he prefered her just the way she was and wouldn't change her for the world.
The two made their way to the Pokemon Center, and deciding to be a gentleman for once, he let Kasiya give her Pokemon to the nurse first before he handed his own over, feeling a little odd for handing over seven Pokeballs. When the nurse gave him an inquisitive look, he shrugged. "Don't worry, I'm going to be depositing one," he had to tell her before she would take his tray away. "What a day..." he then murmured, wandering over to a sofa and plopping himself down on it. For a moment, he thought he might have to pinch himself to make sure it was really happening.

Mai couldn't help but wonder what Keegan meant by 'that one time after the gym battle' but she knew that asking about it would be very suspicious. Instead she entered the Lavaridge Pokemon Center (a little glad she at least recognized the city) and handed over Kasiya's Pokemon for treatment, wondering which five other than the Persian she had with her. When the nurse took the two trays full of Pokeballs away, she looked around the fairly empty Pokemon Center, her eyes coming to rest on another advertisement for the Beach Party. Glancing towards Keegan, she gave a little wave and slowly walked towards him, sitting down next to him on the couch and leaning her head on the shoulder. "So are we actually gonna go to the Beach Party in Slateport?" she asked, gently drawing little circles on his chest with her finger. "And how many people do we know that are actually gonna be there?" She made it sound almost like she didn't want to go, but at the same time she did. She closed her eyes, feeling warm and content to be resting against him. Mai could easily see what Kasiya saw in him, although for the life of her she could not figure out what he liked about Kasiya. Men are strange, strange beings, she thought, smiling slightly.

Now this was a Kasiya that Keegan recognized. She snuggled up next to him on the couch, and he lazily wrapped an arm around her, lightly tapping his fingers on her upper arm. "Well, we'll only go if we both really want to," he told her, stifling another yawn. "I don't know who is going to be there," he answered truthfully. "Mike and that Kilik guy, I suppose. Maybe even Nina and Whitney too, I don't know. But I highly doubt they'd miss a chance to meet up and hang out, just like the good old days. I'm sure there will be others too though, plus it'll be a lot of fun, I think. I also have to admit, I wouldn't pass up the opportunity to see you in a swimsuit again," he added playfully, looking down at her and planting a soft kiss on her forehead. He brushed a few strands of golden hair from her face and smiled. "And let's not forget we have the ball on Sunday evening, too," he added, having nearly forgotten himself. "I'm really looking forward to it, for once." He truly was looking forward to the Breeder's Gala, as he had only been to it once before and it had been terribly boring, especially since he had been alone. But this time, he'd have the loveliest girl in the whole place on his arm, and he knew it would make a world of difference.

"Oh, wow! Great job! I knew you'd get it!" Ryka exclaimed, admiring the shiny new badge. She made a mental note that she still needed that badge also. She listen patiently to the rest of his story, nodding and smiling throughout. "Well, that's good. Parental support is always helpful." Ryka nodded. "A neurosurgeon? They have some high standards, don't they?" She gigggled a bit, before stopping herself. "Not that you couldn't have been, though."
"Wow, that really is a crazy day. But you did good! And you'll do good against Roxanne too, I'm sure." Ryka smiled at him, quickly takng notice of his bruised hand. She gentley held his hand between her own two, examining it. "Jae, what did you do? Does it hurt much?" She winced a little, hoping that she didn't harm his hand.

"Let's play... rugby!" M.A. suggested, temporarily forgetting that her father hadn't even been quite released from the hospital yet. It was something fun they did every once in a while; the family was quite fond of sports.
"Sounds great!" the man said, tearing off his hospital gown to reveal his normal clothes under. He dressed like a tourist most of the time, what with the tropical shirt and shorts.
"You're going down this time," Michael directed at M.A. with a grin.
"Hey now-"
"Are you feeling good enough, hunny?"
"O'course, my lovely wife, let's-"
"HOLD ON A MINUTE, where do you think you're going?" a booming voice interrupted. The family of four slowly turned their heads to the door to see that large, mean nurse of yesterday. "YOU there, you just recovered from a COMA and you're ready to run out there and play rough?"
"Why, yes," Dr. Rustings replied with frank honesty, blinking innocently. M.A. suppressed a laugh. An ordinary man would need more recovery time, but who would ever say her father was an ordinary man?
"Not with me here, you're not. You're not going to do anything stupi-"
"OH MY GOODNESS, HANNAH MONTANA!" Michael suddenly yelled out.
"LULZWHERE?" cried the nurse.
"FOR SPARRTAAAA!" the fossil-man yelled, and the family charged out the door. M.A. was laughing so hard it was difficult to even run straight, but somehow Michael managed to get their parents to sign the paperwork in stride of running away from the rabid bull nurse.

It was 3:10 am when the insistent beeping of his watch awoke Crenu from his sleep. He had only planned on a nap, but the bike ride combined with the fact that he hadn't eaten anything since the morning prior was enough to where down a Vigoroth. Not to mention that he hadn't taken any real time to recover from the battle with Ky, it still buzzed through his mind like a hive of angry Beedrill. That was probably the most fun he had ever had battling, but that wasn't the matter at hand right now. Scratching his head as he tried to gather his thoughts, Crenu was surprised to find a bandage and a sore spot on his forehead just above his right eye, he had almost forgotten about the injury he sustained fighting off the ghosts in the forest. Peeling off the bandage, Crenu gently ran his fingers across the wounded area that was still a bit tender. He felt the course stitching that was going to leave a rather prominent scar on his forehead for years to come, but he actually smiled at this. "A reminder of my own weakness, my lack of power caused this scar and I shall remember it always." It was still to dark to see much, but the lights that lined the park's walkway were enough to get by one. Walking through the entrance building Crenu saw a poster for the bug catching contest and grinned as he walked past it and into the park itself. "I've already got me a bug, and she's queen of the spiders." he was proud of his Ariados, she hadn't let him down yet. Her only losses were to stronger opponents that Crenu could not beat, his abilities as a general still needed work and he did not blame her for that, she and Larvitar fought with devotion and gave it their all. For her it seemed more like an undying adoration for Crenu, he was almost sure she might have a little crush on him. But Larvitar, he was different. He was straight loyal, the perfect soldier for Crenu and that was exactly what he wanted. Poliwag was the only one who seemed to be failing at his duties, and if this did not change soon then something would have to be done about it. As these thoughts raced through his head, Crenu didn't notice reaching the park exit/entrance to rout 36. The park wasn't all that big, but he did steer clear of the grass so it was only natural that he would get to the exit quickly. Walking through the doors onto rout 36 Crenu grinned as he took out his bike and started peddling furiously again, it was still a ways to Mt. Mortar.

"Jaxon! Jaxon, wait, darling," a woman called, distress in her voice. Her long hair was mussed up and her clothes very hastily put back on. She was panting from running down all those flights of the old, creaky stairs, and her fingers gripped the black, rusting rails until they nearly turned white. A dingy window nearby let a bit of orange glow into the staircase, but rather than making the atmosphere warmer, it seemed to make it more hopeless.
Jaxon, on the other hand, had been very composedly walking down the stairs, only stopping now when she had more or less caught up to him. He looked as he always did; scuffled black hair, intense golden eyes, trench coat, dress shirt emblazoned with that oh-so-familiar R.
"What did you mean--"
"I meant what I said."
"But... why?" the woman's eyes were filling with tears. What happened to him? Why the sudden change in attitude? He had been so wonderful just yesterday. . .
". . . I got bored. So let me be already. You're despicable."
With coldness that befitted a statue rather than a human, he left the dilapidated apartment building without another word, sighing into the evening once outside. Nothing. This one meant nothing, either. Any satisfaction he got from all the women he'd known was so short-lived, it was ridiculous... Nothing touched him beyond that. He put a hand ponderously on his chest. Of course there was a heart in there, even though he couldn't feel it beating. But if he didn't know better, he would have assumed that it was a rock surrounded by hollowness. There was no discernible emotion in there, no sadness, happiness, self-pity, nada. Something in him told him that this was different than the him four years ago, but that was unimportant.
There was no time to continue wondering on and on about it though. He had things to do back at the base; he'd already wasted an hour with the latest edition of trash. 'Twas life.
With brisk, measured steps, he made his way inconspicuously to the Viridian base, not entering through the main entrance but slipping around to the side as most team members did. The few Grunts guarding the halls greeted him as he passed but he made no other sign of recognition besides perhaps a nod or a glance; it was not typical for him to mingle about such dull company.
He was about to turn a corner sharply when he caught the sight of Mai looking in a mirror in the opposite direction. With intrigue, he walked over. The woman was gorgeous so she must keep herself up somehow, but he had never yet caught her being publicly vain.
"As beautiful as ever, Miss Mai," he said from behind, his voice quiet and detached. In actuality he complimented most women, so the observing eye would not be so suspicious of his tone now, but in truth only to a few he ever really meant it. Mai was one of those very few.
"Completed the stocking," he continued, his tone carefully respectful and no-nonsense. Usually he wasn't needed for this kind of thing, but what with the Beach Party coming up in two days, the team had discreetly been strengthening themselves. Everyone had been busy lately. "Will there be another mission or request for me?"

Giovanni pondered over what Ampersand had said and then drummed his fingers on his desk. "There's been talk. Murmurs, at best. So please, tell me. What is it that you're offering me?" The Leader stood up once more, he could never sit for too long, and began to walk around his office with his hands behind his back. How he longed to have Persian walking beside him, but with Ampersand in the room, he knew it was not possible. Giovanni paused and stared down into his lab.
The machine working on Rocket Master Balls was hard at work, churning out fifteen every ten seconds. A marvelous machine, really. One that Giovanni was very proud of. With that technology in his hands, there was no Pokemon out of his grasp. He closed his eyes and cleared his mind, ready for any word Ampersand was going to say.

Grinning now that he had the mans interest Ampersand kept his seat bright blue eyes watching the man pace around the room. "Well." He finally spoke up. "One of our leaders died recently, you see there are eight in all. Anyway we have an open seat, I have no desire to keep my temporary seat so I figured someone else might want the job." He paused for a second to let that sink in before going on. "There are a lot of perks that come with it. You get a say in major events, find out things before anyone else if they even find out about them. Stop things from happening that are not in your best interest. I also hate to sound arrogant here but I also come with the deal, any member of the eight leaders get to send me to do whatever they like that is related to the upkeep of the little club they have going on. After all we do want to keep things small and having only one person other then them know about it is a good way of keeping things small." Leaning back in his chair Ampersand watched the man for a few more moments before adding. "You can always refuse of course, no strings attached other then we would appreciate it if you didn't mention us to anyone."
