Takashi thought it odd, being that he hadn't seen too many Gennin around the village, and that he hadn't seen this one at the Academy when he graduated. Perhaps the child had enrolled just after Takashi had? Perhaps he had enrolled at another Academy somewhere? It made little difference to the boy, but something did bother him. If this child had lived in the village for any period of time, then he would've known that the library had closed by now. Takashi didn't know what the new Chunnin was here for, but it seemed like this boy was taking advantage of a privilege Takashi believed was his alone. It annoyed him, but Takashi let it pass for the time being as he walked past the Uchiha and into another section of the library.
Takashi was about to turn his attention back his studies when the Chunnin decided to address him. He wanted to continue his studies, but he figured that his work wouldn't be going very fast with another person pestering him like the library staff had. Takashi turned his gaze away from the scroll, set down his pencil, and with a sigh, looked up to the Chunnin.
"My name... is Takashi Sasaki... and I'd like to thank you for taking care of those clowns."
Something was... odd. Takashi noticed the man hadn't moved away from the junction box; he hadn't even moved his hand.
"I don't scare you, do I?"

"Scare me?"
The man laughed, such an idea was ridiculous. This kid was obviously putting up a tough guy front, and a bad one at that. So far Kiego had only heard this kid yelling at the library staff, and no matter what had happened between them, continuing to talk badly of them after they had already left was deplorable. What he had was a disgruntled young boy, and full of himself at that. Kiego couldn't see the red and white fan symbol on the boy's shirt, and he didn't need to, for he noticed the subtle increase in electrical pulses in the muscles around the kid's eyes, usually meaning either a shinobi was using chakra to increase his eyesight, or had recently used a doujutsu. Since long-range vision wasn't needed in a place like a library he figured it was a doujutsu user, and from the anger...
"An Uchiha uh? Might need to keep this one in my peripheral."
Great, this was the last thing he needed. For one, he didn't really care to satiate this boy's temper, and he certainly didn't want to have to put up with being on the other end of it either. And to add to it, this kid was likely an Uchiha, whose record wasn't exactly that great either. 800 years or not, the Uchiha bred two Akatsuki members and a shinobi crazy enough to kill his entire clan, if the records were to be believed. To this day, the Uchiha clan was still a spitefully and hateful clan, and this child was no different. Kiego would put him in his place.
"Haha, no. I need to keep my hand on this junction box so I can power the lights. I can't just shoot Raiton in here, not when this building is liable to burn to the ground by the slightest spark. And please, no need to be so tough around me, young one. I won't bite."
Kiego smiled at the child, but now a thought occurred to this man, and it troubled him deeply. He'd heard of an Uchiha Gennin that was soon to be placed on the roster which would decide the new squad teams. Supposedly this kid was a deserter, and was under surveillance constantly. Future student or not, Kiego didn't want to end up replacing whoever was watching him as a babysitter. Kiego was relatively new to the village, and he had been told that he might be on the roster of team captains, but Kiego figured this kid might be a bit much to handle for his first team.
"Excuse me for asking, but if I might pry, are you... Takashi Uchiha?
Just then Kiego heard another entering and walking through the library and stopping in another section. From the softness of the footsteps, he thought it was either a child or an anorexic adult. He decided as long as he was introducing himself to everyone around town, Kiego might was well go see who this child was as well. Unfortunately, the child had walked past him and into another section, but thankfully the building was relatively quiet, so he didn't need to shout.
"Excuse me, young one, but would you mind coming back out here where this other young man and I can see you?"▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ ❝| This fate that befalls my clan will not deter our progress, it will only temper the steel of our mettle. |❞

The word stung him like a burn from a branding iron, reminded him that no matter how much he wanted to escape from his lineage, no matter how he hated and distanced himself from them, Takashi would never be free from the name Uchiha. They boy had already told the boy his name, but still he was addressed by that infernal clan name. The Chunnin had no way of knowing the boy's past, but it hurt the boy all the same. But Takashi hid his pain, buried the wounds of his pride, and continued on as if nothing had occurred.
"No, no I am not, and I can tell you that no such person exists in this village. If you are looking for Takashi Sasaki, then that is who you have found."
The boy was very deliberate with his word choice, it made a significant difference to the boy just how people addressed and talked to him. The boy was sure that the man would have questions as to his name, but Takashi tried to return his attention to the task at hand. He looked back down at the scroll for the Reppū (Gale), quickly memorizing and copying the jutsu onto the parchment. As he had done with all the scrolls before, Takashi rolled up the scroll on the Reppū (Gale) and set it aside with the rest of the completed scrolls, grabbing another scroll from the unfinished pile to begin work on. This one pertained to the Doton: Doroku Gaeshi (Earth Release: Earth Shore Return).

Takashi had kept this jutsu in mind when thinking about his defenses. Sure he was nimble and flexible enough, but what would he do in a situation where he couldn't dodge an opponent's attack in time? What if it was an area of effect jutsu, how would he defend himself. The Doton: Doroku Gaeshi (Earth Release: Earth Shore Return) seemed like the smart choice for protection; if he couldn't dodge the attack, why not simply erect a wall to shield himself behind? Takashi had only heard of the technique once from what he guessed was a Doton user; one time he had eavesdropped on a couple Chunnin when he began to suspect he was being watched by the ANBU. Takashi had hoped to glean some information from them, but he had only heard about one of the shinobi's recent missions, and how he had used this jutsu to defend himself from a Katon jutsu he hadn't heard of.
"Pack large quantities of earth together to create a sturdy wall."
Great, it sounded as if he'd be building sand castles to defend himself with, in a sense. Surely there had to be more the technique.
"Reinforce with chakra. "
Duh. How could Takashi have been so quick to judge? It shamed him to be so witless, but in his defense it seemed rather idiotic before. It still seemed a bit odd. One was supposed to have the time to build a wall of dirt before them during combat? Reinforcing the wall made sense, it would compact the earth to a density and strength that would be able to repel or block incoming attacks, but Takashi thought that it would be impractical to build the wall during combat.

Surely that couldn't be all that the jutsu entailed. He unrolled it, and went back over the information, looking for something he could have missed. Sure enough, he found at the very bottom of the scroll some smudged and fading text, the boy must have overlooked it before. He thought it was odd that there was a rather large gap between the previous set of instructions and the diagram at the very bottom. It appeared as if one was pulling up the wall from the ground. Takashi tried to decipher the fading text as best he could.
"Draw the earth wall up from the ground focusing on speed."
Something still seemed a bit off about this jutsu. Now it appeared as if he was not building the wall up from the ground, but on the ground, after which he would pull it up using the chakra used to reinforce the wall. It still didn't answer the question of how he was expected to build up the wall during combat. Perhaps building it was just to familiarize one with the weight and shape of an earth wall, after which one would be able to simply cut out any are of earth and use it as protection.

They boy rolled up this scroll like he had before with the others, but instead of setting it aside and reaching for the next, he got up out of the chair and retrieved all the scrolls he had studied and copied down. They boy went up and down the aisles of books and scrolls, returning the ones he was finished with to their original place. Annoying as the library staff was, Takashi felt an obligation to replace the scrolls; it was the job of the librarians to take care of the reading material here, not to clean up after the boy's mess.
He sat back down at the desk after he was done, and reached for another scroll. This time, Takashi had a specific jutsu in mind, one that he had been waiting to find out how it worked. The boy looked around amongst the pile and soon recovered the Soshuha (Manipulating Attack Blades) scroll. Unlike the
Doton: Doroku Gaeshi (Earth Release: Earth Shore Return), Takashi had actually seen this jutsu in use instead of hearing about it in passing. Unfortunately, it had been used on him, during his time away from Konoha. If he had remembered correctly, Takashi believed that the tracker ANBU Tofune had used it on him, to navigate the kunai he threw past the trees and towards their target.
"Blades are held floating in mid-air as they are controlled by the user's chakra. These blades can then be directed towards any desired target."

Takashi looked back at the windows and realized that dusk had already passed, it was pitch black outside. Either the library didn't have a clock, or Takashi couldn't find it, so the boy was helpless to determine the time. Soon enough he'd have to go home and rest; whether or not he would get caught by the night-watch patrols would all depend on how late it would be when he decided to go home. Takashi decided that it would be better just to finish up his training first, and go home once he was done; better to be done with it and just sleep in the library than waste time sleeping.
Unfortunately, his body couldn't ignore its need for sleep, and so Takashi found it difficult to retain the knowledge he had read. He was able to copy the instructions for the Soshuha (Manipulating Attack Blades), but nothing stuck in his mind. The boy got up and walked around for a minute or two, hoping to wake himself up. He knew that his time for studying was limited, and soon his mind would be near useless for studying.

He shook his head repeatedly, and eventually resorted to slapping himself to stay awake. His feet were numb, his legs falling asleep. Takashi hated himself for not having the perseverance to continue his training, despite his fatigued state. It was the constant mental ridicule and need to prove himself wrong that kept his mind running, even when his body began to go. Takashi finished with the Soshuha (Manipulating Attack Blades) scroll, after going over the material many times to make sure he had memorized it, and set it aside, where he had the other completed scrolls before he had shelved them back in their appropriate places.
Takashi reached over, again searching for another jutsu he had great desire to learn. Only four scrolls remained, so it only took a quick second to find the one containing instructions on the Katon: Hosenka no Jutsu (Fire Release: Phoenix Immortal Fire Technique). All great Katon users had learned to use this jutsu, and now so would he. The boy unrolled the scroll and began his work.
"Multiple balls of fire are sent at the target. It is also possible to hide shurikens within the fireballs, creating an unexpected secondary surprise attack."
Takashi began to think of the possibilities that he could use this jutsu with, and soon found himself daydreaming, almost falling asleep. His salvation lied with his arm eventually failing to keep his head propped up, and the fall to the desk woke the boy up immediately. He cursed himself for his incompetence, and refocused himself on the task at hand.

The boy thought to focus on reading over the material intensely, going over it again and again. He could feel his eyes straining to stay open; eventually he thought to try to go without blinking, which only resulted pain. No, things would be difficult, but to keep his mind focused, Takashi tried to concentrate on learning the material, not looking over to see how he was copying the material onto the parchment.
When the boy felt he finished, he looked over at the piece of paper to check his work, only to be met with disappointment. To his displeasure, Takashi found that despite his sound concentration on the material, he had copied the information like a blind five-year old. He looked over the paper in confusion, for it looked as if he'd drawn a dinosaur, stars and what appeared to be some type of genjutsu. Apparently the boy had no talent trying to write while not looking, at least while sleepy. He prepared himself, and went back over the material again.
"Generate the fireballs with a focus on speed and accuracy. Aim for 2-3 in quick succession."

He yawned occasionally, and almost fell asleep a few times, but the boy's diligence kept him awake and working hard. Work went quickly, and soon Takashi was finished with copying the jutsu onto the parchment. Just like before, he rolled up the scroll, tied it, and placed the finished scroll with the Soshuha (Manipulating Attack Blades). Then the boy grabbed a new jutsu to study; this time it was the Style: Gouken (Strong Fist). Takashi had been looking forward to learning a formal martial arts style, and now the information was at his fingertips.
"Gouken aims at inflicting external damage and breaking bones. It is the exact opposite of Gentle Fist which is used mainly by the Hyūga clan. This style of fighting involves smashing your opponent and is generally used only by extremely physically powerful and dominating shinobi. "
Takashi tried hard to stay on task, but try as he might, the boy was finding it harder and harder to stay awake. When he blinked, his eyes stayed closed longer, his eyelids felt heavier and heavier, he yawned more frequently, and the boy found that he now to concentrate on keeping his head up. Perseverance or not, Takashi's time was running out, and he still had another three jutsus to learn.

The boy wanted to learn a formal style of martial arts, to hone and refine his fighting style, but Takashi wasn't sure this was exactly what he was looking for. He preferred to be quick and decisive, and it seemed this style focused on being unnecessarily forceful and left gaps in the user's defenses. The results were undoubtedly sound, but Takashi could not be sure what the cost would be on his body. The training seemed to focus on attacking with weights strapped to the limbs, in order to build up muscle used to inflict damage on the opponent, a simple enough task, in theory. The boy finished up his studies quickly and moved on to the next task. Takashi had managed to get through his training this time, but he couldn't be sure how long his focus would last.
"Come on, get ahold of yourself. Just two more and you'll be done; you can sleep then."
Takashi got up and walked around to wake himself up. The boy remembered that there was another young shinobi that had come in earlier to do some research, so he took the opportunity to go search for him; making idle conversation might just keep the kid awake. However, to his confusion, the other child was nowhere to be seen, but Takashi had not seen or heard the boy get up and leave. They boy looked around the many different aisles of books, but to no avail; the kid was gone. Takashi decided that he had walked around enough to stay awake and returned to his desk, picking up the next scroll for study. His second to last topic pertained to Blocking, a near necessity for all shinobi. In combat, one's only options in response to an incoming enemy attack were to dodge, block, deflect, or get hit, which wasn't a very smart choice. Takashi thought that knowing more options would increase his chances of winning in combat.
"Using a weapon to block an attack from another weapon is an essential skill to the survival of all shinobi. Obviously the techniques for blocking with a kunai are not the same as blocking with a spear. The size categories are Small(kunai and smaller)/Medium(katana and smaller)/Large(Kusarigama and smaller/Huge(15 feet or 25 pounds and smaller)."

The boy had made it through the last bit of his studies on luck alone, for now he felt the full effects of the drain on his mental capacities. Try as he might, there was no fighting it now, his body was forcing his mind to shut down. Line after line he read, and with each passing word his eyelids drooped lower and lower. His retention capabilities decreased, and before the boy knew it he wasn't even reading the scroll anymore, just staring off into the paper. Eventually Takashi's body could take no more and his mind slipped off into his dreams, losing conscious control of his body...
THWACK
Which wasn't especially good, as his head plummeted straight into the desk. The boy had only been asleep for a few seconds and he had immediately hurt himself. He groaned, and rubbed his temples while his head rested on the desk, and cursed himself for his laziness. On the bright side, the pain from the fall probably woke him up a bit, for now at least.
Although he'd made some progress on copying the scroll, the boy couldn't remember anything about the blocking lesson, and so he found it more productive to simply finish copying the lesson, and going back over it later.

He remembered a few of the drawings and instructions, but not enough to fully practice. It would've been pointless to stop there if he would only end up knowing how to block a certain attack from a certain angle. N, it was unacceptable, he had to go back over the scroll again, he would memorize the information one way or another before he succumbed to his sleep depravation.
The boy pulled out a kunai from his back pouch and held it in his hand familiarizing himself with the weapon. He got up and practiced mimicking the different drawings; perhaps actually doing the lesson would jog his memory on some of the text he'd read, or at least help him retain the knowledge this time. The boy looked back and forth from the scroll to the kunai in his hands, going back over the lesson in an attempt to finish his studies on the technique. Takashi was almost finished with his studies, and he would not give up now.

For high blows, the aim was to use one's weapon to redirect the incoming attack to either side of oneself, using the momentum of their swing to catch the enemy off guard. The boy looked over the angle at which one had to hold their weapon to intercept jabs and side swipes.

The boy's latest memorization scheme ended miserably, as the boy's sleep deprivation waned on his sense of touch, misjudging how much pressure was on the blade he was holding. The kunai slipped in his hand, and cut his finger. He let go of the weapon and clutched his finger, watching the throwing knife fall to the ground and stick into the wood floor. After the brief moment of pain, Takashi let go his finger, it no longer troubled him, and picked up his kunai, replacing it back into his weapons pouch. The boy looked back down at his finger, blood slowly dribbling from the small cut. He wiped the blood form his hand and sat back down at his desk, getting back to his Blocking ********, why the hell is this so hard? Just stay awake for a few more minutes!"
The boy tried to slap himself awake a couple times during his studies, but his general lack of energy persisted. He decided that perhaps the only thing he could really do was to read the scroll over and over again, even though he knew he'd already seen it before. It was frustrating; his studies bored him because the information he was reviewing had already been gone over several times, but for the life of the boy he couldn't remember anything about the lesson until the moments just before he was reading the actual document. This wouldn't do, how could he possibly succeed in his studies if he couldn't remember how to learn the jutsu.

The boy had finally memorized the relatively simple concept, and had looked over the diagrams so many times the boy thought he'd be able to train all the way through without ever looking once back at the paper he'd copied all the information on. As he said the instructions to himself, Takashi found it very annoying and boring, as by now the concept had been burned into his brain, probably more so than he wanted. He rolled up the scroll, set it aside, and grabbed the last study topic left, a rather superfluous jutsu known as Doton: Shinju Zanshu no Jutsu (Earth Release: Inner Decapitation Technique). It wasn't especially essential to his arsenal of jutsu, but he wanted to get more familiar with Doton jutsus and this was one of leftover choices that were at his level; the boy couldn't have chosen something else he wanted to study without it being above his current abilities. The boy untied the scroll and began to look over the instructions, making use of what were probably his last minutes awake.
"After performing a series of hand seals and raising his chakra, the ninja is buried underground using his chakra. He can then move freely inside the ground, as if he was outside, due to the chakra which "makes way" for him/her. After the ninja feels he is below his opponent, he just raises his hand and grabs his opponent's feet, then buries him underground, leaving his head on the surface. This leaves a normal Shinobi open for a powerful attack, but a powerful one can use chakra and raise himself up to the ground, preventing the attack. An experienced shinobi can also predict the attack, by sensing the opponent's chakra, so this move is really only effective on younger ninja."
This jutsu would most likely be a supplement to his range of attacks, leaving weaker opponents open to finishing blows. At best, it might stall stronger enemies, or perhaps give the boy an escape route by running away underground. It wasn't especially vital, but the more jutsu Takashi knew, the more options he'd have in combat.
