Lauren stopped a second. "Well well well... wait a minute. There are TWO." Oh man, she couldn't take on two guys. "Emerwyn, is this all that they did?" She then realised that she stopped when she was suppose to get water for the poor girls wounds.
"OH man sorry again, we're almost there." Lauren couldn't think of anyone. Sabin... didn't seem his style. Vasille, liked his women pretty and in tact.
There was another guy that flashed into her head but she didn't know his name. She remembered, finally, the first time she met Emerwyn comming into the cafeteria. She also remembered the guy singing karaoke and Sabin's comments about him falling apart. "OH MY GOD Emerwyn, was it... Oh man that ONE... dude, er guy. UH... the girly one." She searched her memory for his name. "But there's another guy..."
This was making Lauren's head hurt. What she needed was Emerwyn to just tell her so she could go out and kick some butt.

She had figured it out. The girly one. Even though Emerwyn would hardly say this, she could read Lauren well enough to know that she had meant Julian.
Her face could not lie, so she came clean. "Do you... know anything about Julian?"
If she was lost on the idea of two people... maybe not.

Lauren clapped her hands together, "THAT'S his name... Julian!" then the brief moment of happiness was replaced by her wanting to beat his head in. But could he be capable of hurting someone like that.
"I know he's ******** in the head, from his change. That's about it. Havn't even met the guy. At first I thought he seemed harmles but the halloween party, well he seemed different there. Then Sabin said something about him being unstable to begin with then finally, breaking." She shook her head, "He wasn't tough enough to take a change and now he's taking it out on you! NOW who else?"
Alright, she didn't have it all right now.

Julian's not broken.... not yet.
"In his head... That's where He is." she breathed deeply. How could she explain Cheshire Cat? It was the only way to life the blame from Julian.
Her voice trembled heavily with every forced word she spoke. She felt like Cheshire were watching her. "There are others, too. But... the Cat... He's the one who comes out. He thinks he's guiding Julian, but-" she shuddered. She couldn't go on.

Aww great, he's a schizo. "He has multiple personality syndrome..." That didn't help anything at all. But still a person can't go blaming things on 'their other self' "The cat? Oh he's turning into a cat." To some extent, Lauren was experianceing when the mongoose would take over but she was still there, still in ******** this Emer, he's dangerous no matter if he's Julian or the cat. HE's the one that hurt you. If you know what's best, you'll stay away from that b*****d." But Lauren was pretty sure she would be confronting Julian soon and it wouldn't turn out good for him at all.
They had arrived at the river, a different part than Lauren had camped at previously. She bent down and washed the torn part of shirt used upon her forehead before. Now Emerwyn could use it. Wasn't a very sanitary thing to do but cloth was scarce with the lockdown. "Here wipe yourself up."

She took the dirty cloth with hesitant gratitude. She cleaned the wounds tenderly, wincing. Somehow, she felt there was something more soothing, yet rough... that had once tended to her...... but at the same time, made her shudder.
"No, Julian is good, Julian is..."
Emerwyn breathed deep.
"...I'm the only one who can help him now."
Melodramatic? Maybe. But she believed what she said.

Lauren took the opportunity to refill her water bottle and wash up a little bit herself. The smell of body odor was increasing by each day as she had no soap to help her out. There was no razor so her armpit and leg hairs had started to grow out. Her stone knife too dull to groom with. Also her hair was a greasy blonde tangle upon her head
"Well, your not very sain either are you?" Lauren pointed to Emerwyn. "How can you be of any help. Maybe your hurting him as well." It was a blunt point, a harsh point but something Lauren felt to direct back. Too often people were self centered enough to think they were the only people that could help others.
"Ever think their were people that COULDN'T be helped?"

Emerwyn was startled at the bluntness. It struck her like the hardest blow.
Not the part where Lauren called her insane. But the she could be hurting Julian...
And that...
People... couldn't be helped.
Jerrick.
She couldn't help him. And now...
She had always believed in hope. In hope that there was always a way. That love endured, that anything was possible.
This experience was testing that belief.
She said nothing. She merely continued to clean her face, looking at her reflection in the water.

Lauren sighed, "Ah but what do I know, I'm probably insane too. And I definately know I still want to beat the s**t out of Julian." Lauren sighed. Right now food and violence were probably the only things on her mind. She was starting to regress, her old behaviors and manipulations. Play the tough girl and no one comes after you.
"What DID he do to you?"

Emerwyn continued to stare into the water, deeper, deeper. The water was fathomless to her.
"The Cat did not want me to interfere... But, I sent him back. But not until - " she touched her face tenderly.
"Then, Julian was, was frightened. I reached out for him." Emerwyn stretched her injured hand out to her reflection. It touched the water so lightly, barely disturbing it.
"Then, I was lost." Her hand drew back slowly, trembling.

"So you were trying to help him but he STILL hurt you. That is very ******** up, I mean I thought I was bad."
Lauren was getting rather uncomfortable with the string of self torture Emerwyn had presented. She didn't have things that bad off, she just took them as the end of the world. But still Lauren felt like nothing she could say could help Emerwyn.
Maybe the mongoose was taking over in the next words. "IF you still want to help him, I could be a body guard. If the 'cat' " And Lauren even made quotation marks with her fingers on this word, as if mocking Emerwyn. "Comes out then I could subdue him." with a good knock over the head. she thought towards the end.
She tried some more, patting Emerwyn on the back, "But, you need to take care of yourself. Have you always only thought about saving and helping others? Right here and right now survival is what you should think about first."

Emerwyn came out of her daze and turned toward Lauren. A bodyguard? She wouldn't know what she was getting into. The things the Cat does to your mind... The physical pain was nothing. "I thank you, but-"
She did not go on.
"I am here because I failed to help someone. Someone... very dear to me. I cannot do anything... I am so helpless. So helpless."
Her eyes were filled with an empty sorrow. Only the smallest gleam survived in the poet's once-bright eyes.

Emerwyn was totally confuseing Lauren. "Oh...k. I'm not following you there. You're here because you could not help someone dear to you?" Lauren scratched her head. Damn, this girl needed some serious help. Her buttons were too easy to push as if they begged for it.
"Like I said, some people can't be helped. Has nothing to do with you it's just life. I couldn't be helped and I don't expect anyone to try." She stretched her long limbs and yawned a bit. This was much more boring then kicking someone's a**.

Emerwyn was filled with sadness for this young girl.
She leaned over to her, putting her hands on her shoulders.
"There is great sadness in you; you have suffered greatly."
Then, she rose, and began to walk away.

Lauren swiped at the hand as if Emerwyn had just bit her out of no where. "NO! I'm happy here at this island and I'd be much happier if you left me the ******** alone and went to wallow in your own PATHETIC self pity."
And just as Emerwyn walked away Lauren did just as she told Emerwyn to do, wallowed in her own self pity and anger. She had pushed a button on Lauren, telling her that she was full of sadness. Nope no sadness here, none at all.
"MOREAU!! WHERE ARE YOU!!?!?!" She yelled at the top of her lungs and fell over next to the river in tears.
