Realizing Chase was not following him, Ari let out a pained growl. The police cars were coming in the direction he was running, and the only way to get past them was to jump on them. And, that was exactly what the neko did. He had to time his jump perfectly to get his first foot on to the front of one of the cars and climbed over and jumped on the other side. The vehicles took up too much room on the street to turn around quickly and catch the neko, so he was safe for a short moment. Ari dashed as quickly as he could before he saw a man come out from behind a corner and pull out a night-stick.
"C'mere, little kitty!" he yelled and took the stick and hit the neko on the back of the neck as he ran by. Ari stumbled and forced himself to keep going.
He shook his head and coughed. "No...No go back! Freedom!!" he yelled. Turning on the man with the night-stick, Ari launched himself at the larger and stronger man, digging his claws into the man's arm and randomly biting his hands. "No!! No more cages, no more owners!!" The man let out a frightened yell as he was attacked by the neko. To get freedom, Ari would do anything, even if it meant fighting until all his strength was gone. Who needed Chase anyway? He ran away from the police and the people who were going to capture him. That was how Ari did things before, but he was tired of it. It was time to take his life into his own hands and find freedom and happiness beyond the walls of the city...

Chase turned around the corner, glimpsing the cars after him as he did so. But one wasn't moving, and there was a flash of sandy brown on it. He shook his head, turning, then he paused. One words flashed continuously through his mind; Brother. . . Yes, Ari reminded him of his cheetah brother for various reasons, but he couldn't turn back for him, could he?
The boy hesistated, and that was enough to let the cars catch up to him. The cheetah boy growled heavily in his throat and launched himself away from them, jump up at the roof of a moving car. He slid across it fast, his eyes wide and angry.
There was his hazy past, something he couldn't give up.
"No! Don't take him!" He yelled, his feet skidding on the roof to try to get enough traction to jump onto the next car as fast as possible, his grey hair in hsi eyes and his finger clutching anything that could help him

Until then he hadn't realised that he did need Ari. He did need a family. And he wanted it. . . he wanted it so badly that he eventually forced it away from him. But now. But now he couldn't do that any longer!
"Don't you dare hurt him!" Chase hollered at the car that Ari was on fighting with the man, a crazed look on his face.

((Wow...One realizes he needs the other while the other can kinda function without him. ^^; Weird))

Ari looked behind him and saw that Chase was...coming to help him? After running off and so often proving that he did not need the neko, he was coming to save him? But...did Ari need Chase? In a way, yes. He needed someone because he had grown that way. He needed someone to be near him and care for him in the way he never had. The thoughts kept tumbling around in his mind as he tried dodging another swing from the night-stick to get the neko off. It landed hard at the nape of Ari's neck, knocking him off and on the ground. He groaned and shook his head, holding it as he looked back up and saw the man lift the weapon once more, about to lay down a blow that would cause the neko to go unconscious.

"Now, be a good little kitty and stop fighting. Your time in the slavery is inevitable!!" he yelled out loudly and gained the attention of surrounding people who were either running off or staying to watch. All of them, young and old, wanted to see the fate of the neko. People who wanted them to take the creature away and those who wanted the slavery to end watched. Ari growled and tried to stand up, but the muscles in his legs were weak and his neck hurt too much to even hold up his head. He glanced at Chase and whimpered. "Don't look away from a fight!!" The night-stick was raised up high.

((Poor neko kitty! wah-hah!!))

The boy had no clue what that was supposedo mean. Chase had always been the one initiating the fights. And ending them. This time, these weird looking humans in the same noisy vehicles and clothes had picked the fight and Chase was going to win! He couldn't let Ari go. . . Not after he had been reminded of how having something the slightest bit akin to a family felt. He was determined to get the neko out of harm's way. And if that meant hurting himself, so be it!
The green eyes lessened into angered slits as he saw Ari go down like a rock in water. He let out a roar and leapt at the guy who had hit down the neko, receiving the blow Ari would have before throwing an uppercut into the man's stomach with a grunt. He didn't even stop to see if the man did anything. He tuned to Ari, almost frantically, and carefully hoisted him to his feet.
"Ari? Away from here. . . Hide for now. Escape later."
His tone more monotone than ever, and not extremely panicked, but his heart was pounding and the way he looked at the neko said otherwise.

"Ch-Chase?" came the feeble question. As Ari was lifted up and back on to his feet, he looked to the human and grinned faintly. The worry on the other's face was reassuring in the feeling that the neko was really needed for someone in his life. Shaking his head, Ari nodded to Chase and dashed off. "Attack from afar!" he shouted and hopped up, grabbing on to the fire escape staircase to climb to the roof of a nearby building. Once safely on top, he gathered random foliage from around the rooftop and looked at it. Cardboard boxes, plant pots, chairs, and other things where left on the rooftop by the residents of the building. Great! It would all work out well for assisting the human on the ground. Looking over the edge of the building, Ari guessed the position he would have to be in to make direct hits on each of the people. One would wonder how the neko got so intelligent, but even he would be unable to answer such a question. "Kaboom!!" he exclaimed and through a plant pot over the edge and knocked out one of the men coming from the left. "Bullseye!!!"

Chase smirked as Ari leapt to the fire-escape then he gritted his teeth. He couldn't jump that! Hell, if he could heal at superspeed that would be fi, but as it was his back ribs wre still hurting and he had pulled is shoulder when - "Oh to hell with that!" he hissed, then elbowed the guy approaching him with the nightstick, in the face.
He watched the guy scream and stumble back, satisfied with his work, then turned to see some other guy rushing wildly towards him drop like Ari had earlier, only there was a plant in a broken pot on his head. Chase blinked at him then shrugged and, ignoring the sudden pulse in his head, drop kicked a burly looking fellow before hearing the siren of the on coming cars again.

The boy jumped and frantically looked up for Ari. The sound was deafening! Chase was squinting up at Ari, half from the glare of the sunlight and half from the sharp sound.
"Go now?"
He was already reaching for the ladder though, his back turned way from the groaning but still moving police officers. And there were still more in the cars! Chase wasn't too happy about that. The hair on his neck prickled and he yelped as a nightstick caught his shoulder. He spun around, on impluse sinking to the ground, then punched whom ever that was with a tightened fist.

Ari knew good and well the human could handle himself when there was barely any of the police around, but there were others coming. The neko's tail grew into the fluffed up way as his anger rose. They were going to hurt the boy! Chase was in trouble. Ari scurried down the fire escape and jumped off, landing on one of the men before turning around quickly and punching another in the jaw. Nekos were not as strong as other races, but they were fast, and most used that to their advantage. Even if they did not have as much force in their movements and attacks, they came in quickly with weak punches that would eventually grow into a burning pain. He bit into the arms of the surrounding men, growling like a cat defending its territory or babies. Once he was able to knock down a couple of the men around them, he went to Chase's side and looked at him. "Come now! Go!" he exclaimed and pointed to the gates.

Ari was about to run ahead, but he saw someone stand in his way, the person's back towards the neko and human boy. "I thought I said for you two to go!" said a voice the neko recongized. His ears twitched a few times before his eyes widened. Nikon! The man turned around to look at the others and nodded in the direction of the fields, the areas outside the city. "I figured you'd be the center of attention, Ari, so when I heard there was trouble with the police and a couple of misfit slaves, I came here." He waved his hand and huffed. "No time to talk now! Get goin'!" he shouted and punched one of the incoming police men in the face. Ari was dumbfounded and at a loss for words. So, not all humans were out to get him. He turned to Chase and tugged on his arm.

"Yes, come now?"

Chase drew back from punching the guy and snarled at the others as the car stopped and more police poured out. He wanted to just hurt all of them, end their stupid lives! The gray hair whipped his face as he darted towards a gun. Poacher! was the first thing that came to his mind. The second thing was Catcher! For the cages. . . His face visibly paled for a first tim in a long while and he gave a yell as he tried to grab he gun from the police's hand. Teeth did the trick, and even though the boy could taste metalic blood that he was so used to, he was frowing and breathing heavily; the man was on the ground cuddling his fingers to his chest and wailing.

Ari brushed against him as he flung the gun as far away as he could, then toppled back onto his rump with a 'oof!'. He blinked up at the sun before scrambling to his feet. Abruptly, pain shot through his head and he winced but he gave Ari a queer look. What was the keo looking at? He slowly followed his gaze then his eyes widened somewhat. It was hard to tell if he was pissed off or just surprised, but then after a few seconds he was back to the scowling expression.

He nodded, wretching his arm away from the neko as it was tugged on.
"Yeah. Hurry up," he snapped, eyeing Nikon before turnign his back on the city and running unbalanced to the field.

The fight scene was something the cat earred boy had rarely experienced, and he was surprised he had done so well. The adreneline pumped through his body, making him ignore any pain coursing through his limbs as he ran with Chase to the furthest outskirts of the city. Ari looked behind himself once or twice to see if Nikon was okay, but he told himself looking back was pointless. All that he needed was with him. His friend and soon to be freedom. He looked at Chase and frowned. "Nikon...he helped," he said through his gasps for air. Running was difficult to do when your body was trying to give up on you...

"Sad..." he mumbled and panted heavily as they came to the stone wall. He looked up at it and huffed. "Climb, yes?" he asked and looked at the different holes throughout the wall from gun shootings that were wearing away into larger holes that could have been used for foot placement. He put his hands on his hips and looked up at the top of the wall that reach a good twenty to thirty feet above them. Ari looked at Chase and hissed. "High up..."
PostPosted: Sun Mar 16, 2008 9:12 am

Chase was out of breath and he doubled over when they reached he stone wall, his forehead clunking hard on the rock as he bent over. He didn't seem to bother though. He nodded, panting and not looking up. It was sad, alhtoigh he could not tell exactly what was. He collapsed to the ground, the grass under him poking him in the sides and back. He lay there, breathing and looking up at the rock hill.
"I can't," He replied in a breathless way before swallowing hard. "Too high."

His brow creased with concentration and soon enough, through the silence, he was able to slow his pants to regular inhalations. He sat up, looking rather childish but dangerous, blood from biting the gun away fromo the policeman around his lips and on his cheek. He suddenly grinned, "That was fun!" and proceeded to see what he could and could not move.
"Think my ribs are broken by now," He stated dryly, then sighed and stood, stretching halfway.

"How do we escape, then?" Ari asked in confusion as he watched the other. It was disappointing to hear those words come from Chase. Broken ribs, difficult time climbing. The neko dropped to the ground and let out a sigh full of morose. "Freedom far away again," said the depressed neko. He laid on his back and looked up at the sky. There was a good chance the police were not going to come to the wall of the city. He had heard rumors of there being creatures that like to eat humans at certain points throughout the day, and they gathered around the wall. It was a perfect plan for those creatures, but the humans realized that thought and starting moving in and up.

Ari turned over so that he was laying on his stomach and put his face in the dirt. "Want freedom..."
PostPosted: Sun Mar 16, 2008 6:39 pm

Chase shrugged, his hand on his side now as he tried to bend over. He suceeded in getting his torso parallel with the ground before wincing. He frowned and looked at the neko who was lying face down in the dirt.
"One more day. . . S'all."
He had convinced himself that he could still live in the wild, but in reality, if he could not move with just those sparce injuries then both neko children were doomed; it used to take much more to stop the green eyed boy. The trees had even becom unfamilar to him while he had be couped up in a cage for ten years.

Chase sat down again, his back to the rough stone and his feet almost touching Ari. He tried to nudge the neko halfheartedly with his foot but ended up sliding down to lay on the ground with the other, his expression blank and his eyes staring straight up. He couldn't tell if it was better to live or to die at the moment, and he lacked the motivation to do both.
"I dunno what to do Ari. . . " This was probly the most emotion filled sentence he had ever said to any human looking creature. Sorry. . .

One more day was all Chase said before practically apologizing to the neko. Ari lifted his face and stared at the other in disbelief before grinning slightly. "Get well, then escape?" he asked and tilted his head to the side. "Or find other way around. Breaks in walls from outside creatures," he said, nodding. The monsterous creatures from beyond the wall had created holes in the walls. They all would have easily come into the city and taken control, but for some reason, they just did not do it. Ari sat up, dusting off his dirty face and sneezing, nearly falling over backwards. "Grrr..."

He shook his head and returned his attention to Chase. "Don't know? ... Hmm," he hummed in a thinking pose. "Rest, get well, find way out, be happy outside city!" he exclaimed. "Right?" Ari looked at the other and wondered if Chase would like being free like he used to be. The neko's dream had been to free himself and live a life like any wild creature, but that was hard after being domesticated his whole life. He did not know what was safe, and he did not know what was unharmful. "Okay, Chase?" The neko pat the other on the forehead gently and smiled at him.
