Slate brushed herself off as she watched Kichi fly away. Looking up at Benkei, she said, "This is better. Let's go book some rooms while we wait for the others."

Kichi was feeling lighter than a feather having lugged Benkei all that way so he made it to Fate's side in record time, tranforming as soon as he saw her and landing beside her to start running. "Hi, Fate."

Suddenly, the golden mark on Benkei's arm started to glow. He felt like he was on fire all over, and like his skull was going to split.
"What? What's going on?"
Benkei was lifted into the air by some unseen force, and dark energy swirled around him. Then, after a bright flash of yellow light, Benkei was standing on his feet again. However, he was black with a fine golden pattern tattoed all over, and that smile... *narrator shudders* That smile he wore was one of pure, unadulterated malice.
"Slate... It's nice to meet you in person. First, I'm gonna crush your limbs so that movement is impossible... Then, I'm going to do something to you..." He stepped closer. "...That Benkei has wanted to do to you for awhile now..." He licked his lips.
"No! Don't do it! Not here, not now!" Now it was Benkei who was the voice inside, and the positions were reversed. Dark Benkei raised his weapon menacingly, laughing with a soul-rending wickedness that would shake even the Man Jesus himself.

Slate flinched as the thing that had been Benkei swung his weapon down at her. The very tone of his voice had promised that he would all too willingly do what he'd threatened, and she was terrified to realize that even her quick reflexes were barely able to out-maneuver his attack. "Benkei! What happened?!"

Kichi was just outside the town with Fate when he heard Slate say "Benkei what happened?" and he swore. "I should have known that the alternate Benkei would pop out once i was gone... but at least we were close to them huh Fate?"

"The orb happened. I'm the real Benkei, his true desires and pleasures incarnate, the thug he used to be! The thug he is! Now, stand still and I'll make it quick..." He swung again.
"No! Don't listen too him! He's not me!"
"Wrong again, Benkei, and it doesn't matter. She can't hear you while I'm free!"

Benkei--or the thing that was calling itself Benkei--swung at her again. Slate leaped backwards and glanced around wildly. There were no people around at all, and she was desperately hoping that she would not be forced to use her weapons against him.

"Oh my! It's so dark in here! We can't have that, now can we?" He let out manic laughter as he demolished a wall with his weapon, letting sunlight pour in freely to cover half of the room.
"Nooooooo! If you wish to kill her, at least do it quickly, just don't put her through that kind of pain!"
"Benkei says hello. However, I'm afraid I must say farewell, as I can't go where you're going!" He swung once more, toward the roof. If he succeeded, the entire room would be drowned in sunlight, and Slate possibly fried to a crisp.

Praying to her long-abandoned gods to let her mask and hood protect her, Slate scrambled aside as chunks of the wall fell where she'd been laying. "Please, stop! What is it you want?" Her crimson eyes had widened with fear, the slit pupils dilated till the red irises were nearly black.

Kichi rushed into the hotel and toward the noise of Inner-Benkei smashing walls. When he arrived there he kichi transformed into his human form and takcled Inner-Benkei through a wall. "Run, Slate, get out of here!" he jumped away from the Inner-Benkei and drew his sword in a sweeping arc to throw the Inner-Benkei off his balance.

"I want you. I thought that would be obvious!" He swung again, trying to get Kichi off of him.
Benkei was weeping.
(Get Benkei to chase you across running water. It is naturally holy, meant to combat evils that came even before vampires. You shall live, and the Dark Benkei will be forced back inside for the time being.)

As Dark Benkei swung Kichi off of him and into one of the last standing walls, Slate turned and started to run, closely followed by the dark side of her friend. The only place she could think of to go to was the river, but the nearest river was a place that had been pristinely blessed by monks, and she knew her kind would suffer greatly if they went there. But without much choice, she just hoped her plan would work.

"Running will only make it worse! I am unable to tire!" Every second the Dark Benkei was out, his control over the flesh started to increase. If Dark Benkei was released for too long, well... You get the picture. Then, it happened. He tried to pursue Slate through the waters of the river, and upon touching the water, he was lifted into the air once more.
The dark energy swirled around him once more, and Benkei was back to normal... mostly. The darkness of his arm had spread to the elbow now. He noticed Slate barely able to stand and cried for help. "I can't help you... I'm afraid. He might get out, and I might hurt you, and I don't want to risk that. Somebody!!! HELP!!!"

The holy waters of the river were causing unspeakable pain to Slate, but she managed to crawl out of the water, having managed to drive out the dark side of Benkei for now, and lay down on the bank, panting. Looking up at Benkei, who was back to normal for the most part, she smiled and said, "Well, at least it worked."
