3 more raisin questions in one week makes me a happy panda.
Sleep would make me a happy camper, but I'm busy putting music onto my PC at the moment, and also trying to find other bands that I like the sound of.
sweatdrop Do you like any Ska or Punk? I can make a lot of reccomendations for either, and even provide some samples.
Recently I haven't cared what I listen to. I've been listening to pop, J-rock, Metal, Classic rock, techno, yada yada.
sweatdrop So... Sure.
Less Than Jake - Skacore with a stylistic range running from laid back ska all the way to metal influenced hardcore. Something I find really helps them is the fact that they have two lead singers that the switch from song to song depending on which fits better. Chris handles a lot of the higher energy tunes while Roger does the more mellow stuff.
http://www.lessthanjake.com/ Not only do they have several videos at their site, but a link to purevolume where they have about a dozen songs from throughout their career so you can get a decent sample. I reccomend these guys highly.
Mighty Mighty Bosstones - Sadly, the 'Tones broke up amicably in 02, but they are probably the most influential band in the current wave of Ska. A lot of their later stuff has more of a rounded big-band sound, but they never lost their ability to kick serious a**... or their edge. Not only are they quite musically skilled, but their ability to put out insane levels of energy will always make them one of the finest live shows I've ever experienced, and even carries over to their recordings, whether live or studio. Probably the best album of theirs to get your hands on would be "Live from the Middle East", a live show they threw during the christmas season a few years in a row for three or four days running in the middle east side of Boston, where they grew up and never lost touch with.
Springheel Jack (usa) - Very reggae influenced ska, more melodic than a lot of bands out there, and very worth looking into if you like stuff a little on the brighter side than a lot of bands are going with these days. Their tunes are upbeat without being too perky... excellent stuff to get into a bit of a groove with.
Those three are some of the stuff I listen to that I think you in particular might like the most, but here's a few sites for small DIY labels who are quite free with sample songs and extremely generous with their prices, whether you order direct from them or pick up their stuff at your local record store. Asianman's average cd price is 8$ for regular albums and 4-6$ for well made samplers containing 20-30 songs...
eek http://asianmanrecords.com/ - the best DIY label out there, IMO.
http://fueledbyramen.com/ - not as good as asianman... they got seriously overrun by emo and pop
