Dari smiled and let out a nasal pulse of air that might have been a laugh. He stroked Cody's back and settled in to sleep.
In the morning, Dari woke before Cody. He simply lay there a while, admiring his sleeping face and knowing he could never forget it. Cody looked like an angel when he slept.

Cody groaned and stretched, snuggling close to Dari. "Good morning, love," he gave Dari a sleepy sort of smile. He detached from Dari and started to make his way to the kitchen. He preheated the oven and looked for the necessary ingredients for chocolate chip cookies.

And just like that he was gone! Dari chuckled and followed his sleepy love downstairs, meeting him at the counter and wrapping his arms around him from behind. He kissed the back of Cody's neck.
"We still have muffins," he said. "We could go out for coffee." Two very good options.

"Mmm..." Those options were tempting, weren't they? And they could make cookies later, it wasn't as if Dari was going to leave directly after breakfast. "Coffee's good."

"Do you have some here or do you want to go out?" They could go to their coffee shop, even. Dari would drive. He seemed to be much more awake than his human counterpart.

"Let's go out," Cody leaned over to kiss Dari, and smiled. "I'll go get dressed." He turned the oven off, and rubbed at his eyes. Bleh. He hated mornings.
He headed upstairs and picked out an outfit. He went into the bathroom and did his morning routine: teeth brushed, hair combed, and dressed. He went back downstairs and wrapped his arms around Dari.

Dari brushed his teeth first and got dressed secondarily, mostly because he actually had no need to brush his teeth and so did it arbitrarily quickly before Cody made it to the bathroom. Then he came back downstairs with his sketch books for later and smiled when he felt Cody wrap his arms around him. He'd heard him coming, of course, but it was a good feeling to be loved.
"Should I drive, sleepyhead?" Dari asked, "How do you manage to get up for school?"

"Lots of coffee," Cody admitted. "And a really obnoxious alarm on my phone." He made a face and played the noise. He quickly turned it off.
"You drive, love. Our coffee shop?"

Dari winced. Goodness, that was a harsh sound! Whatever worked though, he supposed. He could wake up to a mouse sneezing in the walls.
"Yes, that's exactly what I was thinking," he said then with a smile and kissed Cody's cheek as they headed out.
After much-needed coffee and pastries (and one long bathroom break) the boys were on their way home, refreshed and more awake. Dari beat Cody to the door but obviously couldn't unlock it for him.

Cody unlocked the door, feeling much better about life. "Let's draw something together," he suggested happily. "I want to draw you." he lead Dari inside and started to set up the table as a makeshift art studio.

"I've already drawn you," Dari said, "Do you want to see?" He moved to grab his sketchbook, either to show Cody the drawings of him or to settle in to draw whatever they were up to.
"I want to collaborate on something."

Cody was surprised. "Really?" he asked. "Yeah, I'd love to see." He smiled brightly and got out his sketchbook. "I'd like to. We can draw something together."

Dari flipped through a good amount of pages of sketches before he found Cody. There was an entire page of him at the coffee shop, his face rendered with perfect detail but not quite photorealistic. Still, he was recognizable. Then a study of his hands around his cup, of his eye colored in watercolor, of a few different expressions. Beyond that was a drawing of a sleeping Cody in Dari's arms from Dari's perspective from their nap on the mountain. Art of the field itself sat at home in the basement, painted. The third page was just Cody and Dari together, this time imagined, both grinning, Cody laughing, almost kissing. That was three pages all for Cody, and the rest were blank.

Cody studied the first picture before smiling brightly. "You're so talented," He marveled. "You're a talented secret agent artist!" He carefully flopped through the pages and when he was through, he moved to kiss Dari.

"Multilingual, eidetic secret agent artist," Dari 'corrected' with a laugh. He pretended to preen and then just sat back, and then gladly met Cody halfway for a kiss.
"I have your drawing on my wall." His room was his again ever since Toby had come to his senses.
