Hugin the Raven

Huginn nodded. "I can see that. While you however, deny what is in front of you, I accept it, and prepare a response." He had no doubt that everything in this space was exactly as portrayed. "Odin is alive, somehow, in some fashion. And if Ragnarok is to be complete, he must die a true death."

The raven of thought squeezed her shoulder in another attempt to stabilize her, as if unfazed by her display of agitation. In a way, he was. "But right now, we need to repair what is broken within this space. And to do that, we must begin your usual process of putting the memories in their proper order."

Muninn's mind was a receptacle of memories, countless ones. The way she managed to keep them all in check was by tireless organization, keeping the flow smooth and even. It was why she took memories slowly, so they could be processed. Emotional as she was, she was as much a creature of order as him.

That was the first mistake.

The second was doing so without permission. Mental defenses are different for everyone, and some are more potent than others. Breaking through them by force, though possible, has a kickback on whoever tries to invade, thus the damaged links between Samantha and the raven of memory.

"You do understand that the priority of keeping you whole comes before anything else, as far as I am concerned. I promise you we will deal wth this later... but for now, I suggest you collect yourself, in short order, and help make sense of this before your vessel no longer opens her eyes."

Indeed, they were on the clock. The longer they stalled, they less time they had to recover the situation. It didn't mean death, but it would mean the broken links would stay broken, and Sam would remain in a coma for an indefinite period of time.

Or perhaps Samantha would wake.. with no hint of Munin to make the child whole...

Either option did not make the raven a happy bird. She growled wordlessly, a sound of frustration and pain, and faintly.. fear... Munin closed her eyes and for a moment the pair were in a staticy white area, nothing.. not even shadows... were in sight. And then, the Ravens stood in a great library, row upon row, upon row of seven foot tall book shelves surrounded the pair in expanding circles with occasional openings to allow a person to wind their way through all those book cases almost like an endless labyrinth!

And indeed this library was endless, or at least it was a magically looped space so that you would never come to the end, and as long as Munin took any interest in the outside world the library would grow with the memories she collected...

Throughout the space not just in the inner circle where they stood, there were books scattered haphazardly on the floor, a few open hanging over the edge of the top of a shelf or just tilted out from the shelf as if it would fall to the floor with a strong breeze.

It was the sight of a book at Munin's bare feet... open, face down with the pages curled under in a way that would damage them, that seemed to snap the raven of memory out of her frantic daze.. She bent to pick up the book, dusting it off and gently folding the cover closed in an attempt to straighten the pages again as she looked at the other books out of place. "Just the thought of the old b*****d puts my mind all out of order..."

Huginn nodded. "As it would anyone who knew the implications." He certainly seemed calm enough about it, however...

He picked up another book, barren of a title. In fact, most of the books strewn on the ground had no title. Countless others, those organized and catagorized, were in script that few but those who knew the runes could decipher. While he would have found it interesting to read into them any other time, he didn't have the luxury right now.

"Just tell me where to put what."

Sooner or later, he would get a full and accurate account of what was going on, besides someone being alive, straight from an environment that should have been impossible to survive in. If this was the way, so be it.

She shook her head again. "Bring them to me... I am lost enough that without touching them I do not know where they go." She looked very sad at that, but she moved to the closest shelf and put the book she was holding into the shelf.. the book did not stay where it was put, in fact it was only there for an instant.. Munin had liked her computer for more than one reason, and figuring out how it stored and reorganized data had made her own mental reorganization methods a bit more efficient.

Fortunately for him, the process became that much easier as he brought whole stacks of books to her, five or six at a time. As each book was sent to its proper location, their covers recieved a name, as if the titles were merely hidden.

All of five minutes passed in the massive library, which in real time, would have been seconds. Any real sense of time in a mundane sense did not exist in places like these.

Huginn nodded, satisfied with their work. "Now then..." He turned toward her, hands folded in front of his chest. "You should be able to at least explain what is going on, now that we have everything in order." He might have accepted the situation in general, but until he had the details filled in, nothing could truly be done to end it.

Munin moved to a pair of plush chairs that just suddenly appeared in the middle of that empty circular area. The ghostly feathers were no longer whirling, although they did continue to drift around as if they were stirring in a light breeze.

"Johnathan Tomorrow is ill, his own body is killing itself, scaring his brain every time he is injured and heals himself. He loves Hono'o and she loves him in turn.. it has been a while since she gave in to real love other than for her new dark god. I agreed to help him look for information that could help him, for his sake as well as hers. She is easier to deal with when she is happy.. and he makes her very happy." She brushed white bangs away from her eyes and shrugged with a bit of a smile.

"I took him to Aekea, we looked through a very good library and found nothing that would help... he collapsed and I broke my own rules, and stole the memories from his mind in the hopes that stealing what was causing him pain would release the pain." She looked a tad abashed at that, knowing that breaking her own rules had been a bad idea from the start.

"But what I saw from his mind... that is what spun me out of control. The all father has returned, as has Thor."

Huginn sat, listened.

What he heard only confirmed what he'd seen, and what Hono'o told him earlier. A simple research hunt turned into something far more disturbing, and she'd taken from him without permission, breaking through his mental defenses in order to take from him what should not have been taken.

Naturally, the fact that Thor was alive as well made matters considerably more hairy.

He maintained his composure through it all.

"Of course, that would mean that Fenrir is dead." He figured out at last who the woman in wolf skin was. "At least that part of it is settled, though not in the way one would expect." He looked toward the floor, brows knotted as the gears in his head turned. "We cannot deal with it now. This takes priority."

He nodded and stood. "Come, we must repair the links. Show me where they are."
PostPosted: Thu Aug 04, 2011 8:54 pm

"Do not worry over them... Thor visited me before you, he started the repair and fixing my memory repaired the rest... I am once more firmly attached to my avatar. But I am not so sure that Fenrir is dead... he was there, although for some strange reason he was a she." She looked a tad confused again as she pulled up the picture of the woman in the wolf skin, it was easy enough to see the great wolf through its new disguise.

"What I don't understand, is how John got this memory.. is it a true memory, or is it a premonition? He was recently visited by Verandi, and she is up to her old tricks so there is a chance that she tried to tamper with him, or Thor himself could be tampering with the man that was once his avatar." She frowned shaking her head.

Huginn sat down again, not so sure that everything was fine. Still, what she said next made him stay for a bit longer. What was Verandi doing this time, and why would she want this to continue? What's more, if Fenrir was not dead... what would that mean?

He leaned back into the seat, sinking into the cushions. Questions were good. Questions led to answers, which led to results. At the very least, Samantha would awaken and be... well, more or less herself.

But this was not over. He had good reason to be involved now, and not just because of mere curiousity. There was no doubt in his head that this was real. The possibility always existed, and now it stood before them.

Odin's return would mean chaos if left unchecked. His death was forseen. There was a reason it had to come to pass, and it would, one way or the other. And he had as much of a stake in this as Muninn at this point. He'd been used to being a free bird, calling no one his master.

The old man would be a hinderance to that.

"Very well... we will have our answers." He stood again, stretched his arms over his head. "For now, I have an annoyance that must be dealt with. I need your assistance with informing this irritating soul that came with me the truth about our avatars."

He looked toward the ceiling of the library with what appeared to be a genuine smile. "I did miss seeing this place. Shame I will have to leave for a while. But there are things to be done." He nodded and turned toward her again. "Shall we return?"

"Not true..." The thing murmured, after a moment, shapeless again, and the next moment his typically accepted human form, legs infront and hands behind, propping him up... He'd glance for a moment, from Evan/Hugin, to Hono, hazel eyes peering out from behind a pair of half-rim glasses.....

"I'd been that dog, once." And then his eyes would have been back on Evan.

"And that girl was me once.." Hono'o nodded to the teenager on the bed before absently running her fingers through her hair.

Munin nodded to Hugin and waved away the images. "Go I will follow in a moment..." She pulled a book from the shelf behind her and flipped the pages so that she could study the images again.

For a few seconds in the real world, nothing happened.

Then, Evan came back, his eyes turning purple again. He blinked a few times to ensure he was back on this side of reality, then nodded. "Done."

He turned toward Hono... and found Ryostov right there, watching him. He gave him a smirk. "Apparently, you didn't quite believe me when I said my situation was unique. The bird's not happy with you calling him another soul, you know."

One might mistake that being in the mental realm meant losing one's grip on the physical one. They'd heard most of the conversation that went on supposedly without their notice.

"Since he doesn't want to mess with you, out of either respect or because he's tired from what just happened, and I don't wanna mess with you for the simple fact that I don't trust you..." He looked toward Hono'o. "Why don't you tell him who I really am. I'll even let you explain about Sam there."

Not like the idiot would believe a word Evan said anyways.

Hono raised one brow at Evan... it was strange how she could always tell the difference, and yet so very easy. "Don't sass me now.. not in my own home! I thank you for the aid of your other self, but I know why he helped in the first place, and the love of a sibling doesn't entirely cover it!"

She did shake her head with a smile as she moved to check John's pulse and temperature, as well as to see if the wound on the side of his head had healed yet or not. "There is only one soul in that body." She pointed to Evan for the sake of the restless soul that had come with him into her home. "But this one is only a fraction of the mind, a separate personality, but not a separate soul... funny enough, it is not a trick of just very old and powerful souls, it is also a trick that bad brain chemistry can produce as well." She put that last bit in as more of a jibe than anything, but it was true that brain chemistry could accidentally create multiple personalities that very closely resembled what Evan and Hugin were.

"Go yap in the kitchen...my bedroom is not the new living room.." Samantha grumbled as she rolled onto her side and opened one eye that was still slightly bloodshot... Munin or not, she was 16.. and a girl, and there really were too many adults in her room for comfort! xp
PostPosted: Sat Aug 06, 2011 2:54 am

Evan shrugged and made his way out of her room. Sure, he wasn't done here... there was still the matter of finding out what to do next, asking why the hell Verandi even spoke to Tom, and all that other crap... but other than that, he didn't need to be in this particular space.

He did however, look over his right shoulder as he left. At least she was all right now...

He headed toward the actual living room and found himself somewhere to sit.

John sat on the floor at the edge of the bed, his head bowed and his eyes well closed. The wound Hono'o had sutured shut was well on its way to being almost totally healed, but his forehead felt very hot, almost feverish. like his skull contained warm embers.

Throughout the entire procession of people appearing in Sam's room he had not awoken, had not even stirred - but as soon as Sam rolled over, her hand slipping free from his slack grip, his brow furrowed slightly and he made a noise much like when lion looks questioningly for his cubs - a low, confused murr, deep within his mighty chest, so deep it sent small vibrations through the bed and floor.

...He did not awaken, though. His brain had been too damaged, his body having lost too much blood. Indeed...it was quite possible he wouldn't wake for days...
