Oh, mounted grenade launchers! That would be awesome!
I am looking forward to seeing these.

I got some Steel Legion to mix in with the Valhallans. Both as a money saver for the grenade and missile launcher, and because they're pretty cool. Shiny helmet is shinyShiny helmet is shinierI've put some black back over where the white messed up on the back of his boot since the picture was taken.

Perhaps play it as a sort of combined forces operation? Two different battlegroups were put so low on numbers that they had to join together.
Also, looking at it, Gunnery Sarge KYA would do decently alongside the Steel Legionnaires.

Ahhh, that's a good idea actually. Though one of the reasons I wanted to mix them up was because the SL heavy weapon teams look so much better than the Valhallan teams, and so I'd like to stick SL teams in with Valhallan squads.
And, cool, I'm glad you think Sergeant KYA fits with them.

Its a combined Regiment not to uncommon in the Imperial Guard, just like the Valhallan 579th and even the Tanith 1st

It could be designated as a Crusading Army, that over time is forced to throw regiments together into a cohesive fighting force. I'm sure that the Imperial Guard codex also has a blurb on this.

mixed regiments of veteran troops are quite common, as getting reinforcements from home planet is hard with all the troubles of warp voyage... sometimes the combination yields surprisingly good results like catachan/elysian regiment which made great jungle airmobile unit, sometimes combination leads to open infighting when rigid discipline troops like mordians meet former hive gangers from necromunda

Ah yeah. That makes sense. It seems though that the Valhallans, Steel Legion and Vostroyan would work well together then?

They all wear long(ish) coats, some with fur hats, others with helmets, so yes, they would fit together well enough. wink

Models work together well enough when they more or less share the same uniform scheme or general colour scheme between the lot of them. For example: Of course, fantasy is a different beast than 40k, but the same idea applies. The uniforms don't have to match up 100% between the three, but using the same colours can be most effective.

Aye, well that makes sense, and that is indeed the idea I was going for.
I have decided to take the Vostroyan with a pretty typical colour scheme, rather than the grey or blue. Unfortunately the picture is on the other computer, but the metal parts are 'tin bitz', which goes well with the inked brown of the other two.

Vostroyans do look great in bold colours such as red, blue and in a more muted fashion: grey.
I could see the Vostroyans act as the "Old Guard" of the formation, sticking to tradition and dress code while the Steel Legionnaires and Valhallans adapt to their theatres of war as best they can.

So farI forgot to mark around the boots on the newest, and it actually looks quite good on the picture, imo. I might go over theo ther boots and make them mostly black. Apart from the Vostroyan.
