There was a chuckle at that, "Yes, well..."

She grinned, she supposed that had been that she wouldn't have thought of, them being married. Lin still remembered Earendil talking about how he avoided the city sometimes because of the girls chasing after him.

"All in all I think it'll be fine, it's not like anyone will be surprised about us, except for Andarien... and except for those in denial."

Because really, it wasn't so much Ruel didn't expect Earendil to propose, it was the man was in denial. She sort of figured after a while it was how he coped and managed to be civil to people he wasn't fond of.

"Like Halaleel," Earendil said, poker-faced.

There were few people that he truly disliked, he had to admit, but the daughter of his good friend was one of them.

As he thought about her now, though, a slow smile spread over his face. "By the Valar, I can't wait to see the look on her face when she realized we're married now."

Lin softly whacked Earendil, but despite this she was laughing. Granted she was trying to use his body to muffle the laughter because she shouldn't find that amusing.

"Be nice," she murmured when she finally got all the giggles out.

Earendil laughed and ducked away from the playful blow, and lost his balance and toppled over.

"So I have a vengeful streak in me," he grinned, tickling Lin's ribs. "You have to admit, it will be quite amusing and well worth the anticipation. D'you think she'll faint?"

He was only half teasing. He really was looking forward to the moment.

Lin tried to twist out of the way of his tickling fingers, and laughed at that.

"Probably not," she stuck out her tongue at him.

She moved to tackle him, since they really had gotten to the point where they were just clowning around.

"Speaking of which, we do need to tell Aranhil since he was the one who made the necklaces."

Earendil fell to the ground and wrapped his arms tightly around Lin, pinning her to him so that she couldn't tickle him back.

"Now that is something that I very much look forward to," he grinned, no longer joking. "He's always been a dear friend, and I did promise him I'd let him know how things went. And then of course there are my great-grandparents on my grandmother's side. Perhaps we could stay at the inn a few days. I bet the children would like that, especially if they know it's their ancestors who run it."

Lin wiggled, but she knew it wasn't going to help that much. Just because he was light didn't mean he was weak, it was that really strange quirk about elven weight. It didn't help he was much taller than she was. Giving up she just let her head rest and thought about it.

"And it would give us a chance to really visit them, honestly we don't see them enough."

That was another one of those things that Lin could count on one hand.

Earendil smiled and kissed her on the top of her head. "Entirely true," he murmured. "That could be said for most of my family, I fear."

He grew quiet, then, and thoughtful. He ran his fingers lightly over Lin's back as he mused.

"What's the matter?" Lin noted how he suddenly became thoughtful.

She knew that the family was now spread out, all doing their line of work whatever that was. Granted she rarely met Earendil's other uncles, there had been Shea and Mikhail back when they had been helping Amon Darthnir, but his other uncles Lin hadn't seen since the wedding. With the exception of Riordan who she hadn't seen since she was really little and saw him so little (as that had been her very first visit) that she didn't even remember what he had been like.

"Thinking about your other uncles?"
PostPosted: Sun Feb 26, 2012 7:27 pm

Earendil wrinkled his nose slightly. "Well ... a little, I suppose, but ... I'm also thinking of how we might possibly be able to get Father to spend more time with us and the children ... with my uncles, it would be nice to see them all, but I'm more concerned with Father. He's their grandfather, after all. We're just going to have to think of a way to get him to spend some time with them ... good time."

He was really worried about his father, and how he would react to the children. He had seen Miyuki before and that hadn't gone over well. He had every reason to be afraid, he thought.

"I would say don't force it," Lin replied, "I mean, I would love for them to have some good time with their neko, but... sometimes it's too much for one person."

She was use to strange things happening, Lin just didn't batter an eyelash most of the time. As much as she disliked it, she understood that if she or Earendil decided to keep adopting Gaian children, things were probably going to get a bit strange.

"He'll be polite though, otherwise he'll be facing your mother's wrath, so it won't be horrible or anything, it'll just be a bit awkward."

Somehow the imagine of Luthien dragging her husband out of the dining room had stayed with Lin after all these years.

Earendil nodded. He wasn't so sure. He'd been under the impression that his mother was losing some of her persuasive control over his father. Either that or she honestly didn't know about his and Ruel's arguments.

"I guess I'm just more pessimistic than I'd like to believe," he smiled faintly.

"When it comes to your father yes, but then again I don't know what sort of conversations you two have had."

And she supposed it was different since Earendil was Ruel's son and one who had stayed with the family for all his young (and most of his adult) life.

"And if your father is anything like anyone else he saw it just like everyone else," Lin added dryly.

It was becoming a joke really, that everyone saw before she did or even Earendil to an extent.

Earendil smiled ruefully. He wouldn't fill Lin in on the conversations he'd had with his father. He would much rather forget them, truth be told. Not that he could.

"He tried not to see it," he said finally. "He did his best."

Well, there was no sense in beating himself up over it. He would find out when they arrived what his father would say.

"Ah well...." Lin murmured, "His fault, after all everyone else did... see it I mean."

It was actually kind of sad.

"I wonder if anyone will be visiting the castle by the time we get there..."

Since it had been a long while since she met any of the other uncles, but she didn't know them all that well. The one she knew the most that wasn't Elrohir or Gion was Mikhael and that was it.
