Mana_ecl Zetsuya 'Ruhi; You'd be surprised. It's all about actually making it worth the bizarre nature. xD
If you hadn't noticed, one of his blades happens to be a western long sword, his master having been a follower of five great warriors of the Land of Water, and the one who had the sword, Tsume, before him, was from across the seas, in a land of Knights and whatnot. Chishuu Ruudo is the easternized form of the style used by the foreigner.
It's all good to work out. Ha ha.

'Ruhi; According to the back story, it was about eighty years or so since it all began. . Zay's master passed away when he was fourteen, and his master had been sixty-three when he passed. He had been there at the passing of the Guards', who took their final breaths when he was twenty-seven, and his master began following them when he was ten. xD
I've got history back to a century on fictionalized. xD

'Ruhi; Nooo... He's only about nineteen. His master was there at the end of the Guards' era, which began about 80 years ago, and ended about sixty years ago.
You can basically think of the Guards as a more neutral Swordsmen Corps.

'Ruhi; Twenty years is actually quite a long peace for a world where it literally has entire villages thriving off of war, espionage, and violence. xD
