Also, just for reference.... Here's some info I build up in the past

A rather large Japanese building in a clearing in a forest, with a single beaten-dirt road coming up to the front plaza, is the location of the Gaian Ninja Academy. The front plaza is a large open grassy space with a fountain in the center.

Around the back of the building, several stands distributing foods, clothing and other materials needed for daily life stand. These are run by people who wish good on the nin of GAIA and thus, offer to stay with us in return for nothing.

The first room entered is the "Main Room". It is an enormous room with a ceiling a good thirty feet off of the ground. There are large wooden rafters to hold the structure together. The floor is made of red oak planks, and is raised off of the ground a few feet. To the right of the room, a sealed off area for training and whatnot is located. Couches are put along the walls, with coffee tables in front of them. Near the kitchen entrance, there are several couches along the sides of a big square coffee table. The main purpose of this room, is to relax and or converse.

On the eastern wall of the main room, there are hallways to dorms and the Medical Wing. The opening to the left of the hallway leads to the Medical Wing. Continue down the center of the hallway, and you will find a stairway the divides. The male section is to the left and the female is to the right. The rooms are customizable to the person who it belongs to, completely customizable.

On the south end of the main room, there is the kitchen. The kitchen consists of a semi-decent sized rectangular dinner table, and a six-person round table, closer to the entrance. In the back of the kitchen, there is an intricately carved back door. Other that this, the kitchen contains all of the normal kitchen stuff; a stove, microwave, refrigerator, cupboards and a pantry.

To the west of the main room, there is a training room, complete with training robots and weapons of any kind that could be found in ancient times. Due to certain mishaps, sparring is performed outside of the Academy. Beyond the training room, there lies a lab that only Tutsumi and Nekojiri have access to.

The medical wing consists of a hallway, with ten rooms on each side. The hall leads to an opening which contains the "serious" medical equipment, and in the center, a monument to the old dojo made by Nyl and Sakiyn. Each of the rooms contain two beds, medical equipment used for light to high-moderate injuries, a few chairs (varies with room) and a sink/toilet.

At the end of the middle hallway, on the right, just before the stairs, there is a room that Neko converted into his office. There are three chairs, one behind a large oak desk, and two in front of it. There is a safe in the back corner, along with a few filing cabinets. Normally, there are a few stacks of paperwork on the desk that are prone to growing rapidly.

Generally, most dojos are located on the inside of the building, but there are a few which are located outside as well. These are well kept dojos and have defenses of their own kind. The basic dojo contains a large empty space and a back room, usually best suited for a sensei/shojiki office. Of course, should more elaborabte designs be needed, they too will be able to happen.

Information on the history of the GNA, techniques used in basic combat be it taijutsu, ninjutsu or genjutsu and weapon training can be found within the library. This is located on the right hand side of the Main Room.

Current Classes derive from the basic elements: Earth, Fire, Wind, Water and Lightning, to the advanced elements: Light, Darkness, Spirit and Healing.

Only Chuunins can gain more than one element at a time, and even after they join the other they must become a Chuunin in that one to move on to another.

Should you want to improve on any perticular techniques, sparring or getting help from a higher-level or same-level member of your dojo would be wise. Should you need help with weapon training or taijutsu, as we mainly don't specialize in this area within the dojos, then taking on a fellow student in a careful spar would be best.

Teachings such as Strategy, Field Survival, Equipment Usage, First Aid, and Stealth all can be taught by higher-leveled nin should they have enough actual experience in these feilds.

The Arena Structure

The Arena walls consist of transparent diamond material which has been layered so that any and all weak points are eliminated, rendering the sturdy wall indestructable. This material has been sealed so that it cannot be manipulated by any other means aside from the main controls. Said main controls can manipulate the material in any way, creating a colliseum-type fighting ring, a completely enclosed dome, non-existant at all, or even turn the material into a thick, sticky goop, trapping anything to come in contact with it.

The floor has its own 3 foot layer of reinforced concrete, covered by a thin layer of packed dirt. Surrounding the cement ring, normally kept under the surface when not in use, there are several gale fans, along with a series of faucets for the network of pipes. Via the main controls, the floor can open up, revealing the bare earth underneath.

Elemental:

There is an external terminal that can govern the elemental or "weather conditions" of the arena, it is located in a nearby bunker, along with various types of monitoring equipment.

Rai: Located around the arena, within the confines of the diamond barrier, there are several eletrical conductors, powerful enough to generate a considerable electrical force in the arena.

Ho: The condocturs used for Rai can also double as 'super-heaters', able to raise the temperature inside of the arena several thousand degrees. Coupled along with the de-humidifiers, this could simulate nearly any harsh heat climate.

Mizu: Underneath the arena, a system of pipes and pumps bring water to faucets surrounding the arena. These could fill the arena completely, partially, or just spread a fine mist, humidifying the air.

Kaze: There are a set of gale fans, kept underneath the arena sidelines when not in use. These fans can be lifted from the ground, and fixed into the barrier of the arena in nearly any spot.

Tsuchi: Aside from the small layer of dirt and the layer of cement and steel, the arena floor can open up, revealing the earth underneath.

Arena lights, or something of the like for Hikari, and the walls/dome could become tinted, or blacked out for the Yami matches.

OK, I'm setting up a tutorial here that will teach you everything you need to know as long as you stick the RP rules and guidelines! With this, you can't afford to be a damnass, you just can't...because if you are then I'll kill you, plain and simple.

How to Win

In order to win a fight, you must disable, defeat, or kill your opponent. Killing your opponent is not allowed unless before the battle, you both agree that killing is allowed which is used by a medium such as Private Messaging (PM), Instant Messaging (MSN, AIM, Yahoo, ICQ), or in OOC. You can surrender, but doing so means that you lose the battle. It's as simple as that!

Injuries from a fight

During a fight you might get injured. Not like cuts, but stuff like if your arm got broken. The fight will go on but after the fight your arm will still be broken. That means that you can not fight or do high level missions for a few days but you can still train and do lower level missions. The amount of time you take to recover will depend on how durable your character is.

Types of Attacks

Ninjutsu
Techniques that can range from elemental attacks to summoning or defense.
Examples: Kage Bunshin No Jutsu, Raikiri, and Kuchiyose no Jutsu.

Genjutsu
Illusion skills used to confuse an opponent or incapacitate them mentally.
Examples: Oiroke No Jutsu (Sexy no jutsu), Bunshin No Jutsu, and Genjutsu Kai.

Taijutsu
Hand to hand combat skills used to damage an opponent externally or internally. Taijutsu also include specific combat styles for those who specialize in Taijutsu.
Examples: Renge, Jyuuken, Shishi Rendan, Senen Goroshi (1000 years of pain).

Kinjutsu
Forbidden skills that can pose serious harm to the user or are inhumane in nature.
Examples: Ura Renge, Souja Sousai No Jutsu, Kuchiyose Edo Tensei

Doujutsu
Pupil ability that allows the user a variety of abilities. This is usually a Kekkei Genkai.
Examples: Byakugan, Sharingan, Amaterasu, Tsukiyomi Kekkei Genkai

Fuuinjutsu
A sealing technique used for anything from making someone possessed to sealing an evil curse. Usually also considered to be Kinjutsu.

Bloodline Limit
Technique that is passed on from one generation to another.
THESE TECHNIQUES CANNOT BE COPIED OR OBTAINED UNLESS THE USER IS OF THE CORRECT BLOODLINE!
Examples: Hijutsu; Makyou Hyoushou, Nikudan Sensha, Kikaichuu no jutsu, Hakeshou

Kaiten
THESE TECHNIQUES ARE ADVANCED AND SHOULD ONLY BE TAKEN BY THOSE OF JOUNIN LEVEL OR HIGHER (usually).
Examples: Fuuinjutsu; Shiki Fuujin, Fuuja Houin, Goguoufuuin, Shisou Fuuin

There are many Jutsu's that have effects

Poison poisons weakens the Ninja and stops them from using there skills for 3-4 but the ninja can still run doge and attack but it will better to hide and dogged.

Nervous System Confusion when hit successfully the ninja and not move for 5 turns but and still use a hand and dose half of the ninjas skills one that do not require movement.

Sleeping, it only works till the person is hit if not in only last for one turn.

Mind Body Disturbance Skill and Mind Body Switch Skill this skill is very good in team battles because the user and attack there team mates in one on one battle I user and hurt him self or stop and attack the effects last for 2 turns.

Frozen some skills can freeze people in ice when that happens you can not move or use skills for 2 turns but when you get hit then they are free.

Chakra Information

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
Chakra is simply stated, the energy you use when doing a jutsu. Basically, to do ninjutsu or genjutsu, you must mix your Chakra (which is bodily energy collected from cells throughout the body) and spirtiual energy (which is gained through experiences). Then by doing the proper hand poses Seals, the jutsu can be activated. Once Chakra is activated, various techs and movements can be used.

Without Chakra a Ninja wouldn't be able to do much.
User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

The creator of the Naruto series, "Masashi Kishimoto", used the Chakra system as a power that the Ninjas in the series can use, He quotes:

"I needed a hook to tie in those points in the story when characters would use powers that were beyond normal human capabilities. The term is Chakra, which is used as an explanation for readers to better understand the powers. It?s similar to ?the Force? in Star Wars, or chi (aka. - Ki) in "Dragon Ball", or magic points in RPGs."

Chakra Useage

Chakra is the source of energy used by every Shinobi in the great series of Naruto. In fact, there are two energy sources used by them; Stamina, which could also be called physical energy, and Chakra, which could be called mental energy. As a result, each ninja style uses a different energy source; Taijutsu uses pure stamina, while Ninjutsu and Genjutsu use Chakra. However, chakra has many more uses; it can be concentrated on the user's feet for a boost of speed, or a higher jumping capability. There are also several other things that somebody must acknowledge to fully understand how techniques are executed. First of all, stamina converts to Chakra for many techniques, but not vice versa. This means that once stamina is converted, it cannot be converted back. Also, a hand seal is needed to perform the conversion. One of the toughest parts of using Chakra is controlling it and using it wisely. In this guide, we explain how Chakra should be properly used, and how it is often used improperly.
User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
First of all, everybody only starts out with Stamina. Stamina is the energy we use everyday to run, breath, walk, exercise, even think. Every time we rest, our stamina recovers. Food, rest and fitness are the three most important factors in Stamina capacity and usage. As long as a person sleeps a sufficient amount of time, eats healthy, and exercises daily, there will be no problem with his stamina. This is very important, because stamina creates Chakra; as a result, if there is no stamina, there can be no Chakra, so the shinobi cannot fight. Now as you can see in the above graphic, Taijutsu uses stamina, while ninjutsu and genjutsu use Chakra. You can also see that Naruto has all of his stamina, so he can perform any Tai, Gen, or Nin jutsu he knows.
User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
Now here, Naruto is converting his stamina into Chakra, and with a successful result. This needs a lot of training, and it is the part where most of the stamina is lost. That is, because the user needs to know the exact amount of Chakra he needs in order to execute the technique in mind. As a result, if the ninja doesn't know how much Chakra he needs to use, he cannot convert correctly. Besides that, the ninja must also be able to concentrate just enough to convert the Chakra, which is pretty hard to do while in a heated battle. This is why ninjas at disadvantage and rushed are the one that waste most of their Chakra and stamina. However, note that this only applies for Nin and Gen Jutsu, because Taijutsu needs absolutely no conversion.
User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
Here, we have Naruto as a continuation from the above graphic. As you can see, he has converted 30% of his stamina into Chakra, which leaves him with 70% of stamina left. Now in order to successfully use his Chakra, Naruto must divide it accordingly. As a result, he first wastes 10% of his overall Chakra to do Bunshin no Jutsu. This leaves him with 20% of Chakra left. Now if he was successful, he would use 20% of his remaining Chakra to do Henge no jutsu. However, he uses up only 10%, leaving him with 10% of Chakra left, and thus, wasted.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. Now we will explain how a proper and well trained shinobi uses his Chakra. Sakura has always known the best use of Chakra, so she is used in this example. First, she gathers up her Chakra, and converts 30% of her stamina into Chakra. This leaves her with 70% of stamina left. Now, since she can properly use her energy, she has it all calculated. Since her goal is to create 4 Bunshins, she performs the Hand seal, and then focuses her Chakra into creating 3 additional Sakuras, for a total of for. In order to confuse ninjas even more, she equally divides her 30% of Chakra by dividing 10% into each Bunshin, and by that she uses all of her accumulated Chakra, not wasting any energy at all.
User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
In the above picture, Sasuke is about to perform Bunshin no Jutsu. First, as with every other technique, he transforms his Stamina into Chakra by using a hand seal. This is where he is weakest at, because instead of creating the necessary amount, he created a bit more of Chakra. Next, he focuses his Chakra, and he successfully creates 4 Bunshins; however, as you can notice, the excess 10% of Chakra is left out, and thus, wasted. This means that even if the ninja knows how much chakra he needs, mistakes such as this one can occur, and the user can transform more Chakra, leaving him weak.
User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
Here, we have Naruto trying to perform Bunshin no Jutsu as well. However, he is unskilled in both converting Stamina into Chakra, and using his Chakra wisely. As told earlier, the average amount of Chakra for these examples is 10%. So, Naruto starts out (wrongly) by transforming 50% of his overall stamina into Chakra. This would mean that he should create 5 Bunshins in total. However, due to his lack of skills, he fails, and as a result only creates 1 Bunshin. This happened because he couldn?t control his Chakra and force it into a Bunshin correctly. This results in a loss of 40% of Chakra, which is a rather large amount, considering that only 50% of his stamina would be left. Although this isn?t an uncorrectable mistake, training such as wall climbing and water walking can fix this uncontrollability of Chakra.
User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
For our last example, we have rock lee, an elite Taijutsu user. Since Rock Lee has absolutely no need to convert stamina into Chakra, he can just perform his techniques without concentrating into conversion. This gives Taijutsu users an edge, because they do not have to mold up their Chakra in order to attack. It is also beneficial due to the fact that a Taijutsu ninja has a complete control over his movements and energy. As a result, he just focuses his stamina in his feet and uses his Leaf Spinning wind (Konoha Repuu) He does not have to worry about loosing Chakra into conversion.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. As a last note, if a Shinobi cannot create any more Chakra, which means he has 0 stamina, he or she dies, or at least gets knocked out. This posses a great danger, because ninjas unskilled at controlling Chakra can easily get killed if they don?t watch out. This wraps our Guide of Chakra use up.

Chakra Training

Chakra is the energy needed by a ninja to perform jutsus. This will explain about each trainning used in Naruto to help you use Chakra to its full extend.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
Tree Climbing
This training includes gathering Chakra into the feet and climbing up a tree. It teaches to control Chakra by bringing out the correct amount of Chakra in the proper area. The amount of Chakra needed to climb a tree is minimal, but it has to be perfect. Kakashi said that the bottom of the foot is the hardest area to gather Chakra. By learning to control Chakra, an individual can master any jutsu if they try.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
Water Walking
A more advanced training than tree walking. Like tree walking, a user must gather Chakra into the feet and constantly feed the appropriate amount into the water. The release of Chakra must match the weight of the body and the amount necessary to float. It is more difficult to control Chakra since water is not solid and constantly moving. This training is used to teach an individual how to create a specific amount of Chakra into any part of the user's body.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
Leaf Concentration
This training requires a person to concentrate all his/her Chakra onto a leaf which is placed on the forehead. It's an effective way of training concentration. By calming the mind and defining a target, one is able to draw upon their maximum power. Rumor has it that the Leaf sign on the Hidden Leaf forehead protector originates from this training.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
Chakra Molding
Molding Chakra can increase the flow of Chakra throughout your body. It helps you do the other 3 trainings well and enables you to access more Chakra when doing jutsu. Molding Chakra can help you gain Chakra to certain part of the body more quickly.

Types of Chakra

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
Normal Chakra
Normal Chakra is the type of Chakra start out with, it has a light blue color to it. This Chakra is sort of a LVL.1 Chakra. It can be used for most skills, but you need a lot of it if you want to perform higher level Ninjutsu.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
Healing Chakra
Healing Chakra is the kind of Chakra medical specialist like Tsunade and Shizune use for healing-purposes. It's a light green Chakra that can heal physical damage on one's body. All we know is that it heals wounds at an accelerated rate, we do not know if every Shinobi has, and can mold this type of chakra. It seems that the user focuses this type of Chakra to their hands, and then touches the injured spot to begin the healing process. It's unknown if this Chakra is actually used for Skills.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
Kyubi's Chakra
Kyubi's Chakra is a special type of Chakra that can only be used by Naruto, and offcourse the Kyubi itself. Naruto can use this Chakra because of the demon fox that was sealed inside his stomach. He calls upon it in times of great emotional excitement, and later on Jiraiya even tries to learn Naruto on how to control it. The Chakra has a redish Colour. And it's a far more powerful type of Basic Chakra; it is used to perform high level Skills which requires a tremendous amount of Chakra. When Naruto lets a part of the Nine-Tail's power leak out, the seal that sealed the Kyubi appears on his stomach.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
Cursed Seal Chakra
This Chakra can only be used when being marked by Orochimaru's Cursed Seal. (Being bitten by Orochimaru, and having survived the 10% survival-chance.) It's a dangerous type of Chakra. And if it's used too much, it will drain the humanity from a person, and the user becomes a slave to Orochimaru. This Chakra is dark Purple one, and becomes active when the user is out of his regular Chakra. Visible black shapes will appear on the body and the user will be given a tremendous amount of Evil Chakra power.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
Chakra Gates Chakra
By opening Chakra gates (releases the body's limits on muscle usage/Chakra flow) your body and muscles will be put on a lot of strain. Although your attack will be a nearly suicidal attack, you will be able to perform continuous speed and high powered attacks, making this highly devastating to any opponent. This is the Chakra Lee uses to perform his lotus-attacks. Apparently this is a deadly type of Chakra that is best used by people Advanced (strong) enough in Taijutsu, hopefully being able to bear the heavy strain placed on your whole body. Someone can open up to 8 Chakra gates, some of the user's Chakra will turn green and surround him. By opening more Chakra gates, your granted power will increase. But in most cases the result is immobility of the user, due to torn muscle fibers.

Hand Seal Guide

Hand seals are as important as Chakra. Most Genjutsu and Ninjutsu need hand seals to be performed, but Taijutsu doesn't because it simply needs no Chakra. The main function of a Hand Seal is similar to that of magic words. Instead of speaking of words to activate a spell, Hand Seals are used to activate the technique, and release all the gathered Chakra. Hand Seals stand out for animals, specifically the animals found in the Oriental Zodiac signs. That's why there are 12 seals, one for each of the 12 years found in Oriental zodiacs.

This is because if the hand seals in a Ninjutsu are not performed correctly, the Chakra will be released wrong and a different effect will occur, probably failing the Jutsu. As a result, Hand Seals need a lot of concentration, which is why techniques in Naruto cannot be interrupted, or the technique will definitely fail. In the lines below, we have gathered images of all of the most frequent hand seals.

The hand seals in the Naruto series are based off of the Oriental Zodiac system. As you may have heard when someone talks about what year they are born in, they may say year of the Dragon, which means they would have been born in 1928, 1940, 1952, 1964, 1976 or 1988. Below we have organized the hand seals in order of when they appear in the Chinese zodiac, from one to twelve.

Other Types

RIN
STRENGTH OF MIND AND BODY
At first this may appear to be physical strength and mental intellect but maybe we can think of this as being physically well and having a positive outlook. Middle fingers extended, others interlocked.

KYO
DIRECTION OF ENERGY
To begin this may seem to refer to directing your energies into work but later it could be that you see it as a way of directing your internal energy to increase your inner power. Index fingers and thumbs extended, middle fingers curled over index fingers. Others interlocked.

TOH
HARMONY WITH THE UNIVERSE
This can work on many levels from learning to live in peace with mankind and the animal kingdom to being at one with yourself. Last two fingers extended to form a V (tips touching). Thumbs extended, others interlocked.

SHA
HEALING OF SELF AND OTHERS
The ability to heel is more powerful than the ability to kill. When you sense your inner power you will no longer succumb to viruses and other ailments. A word to those that would use their powers to harm others, "It is easy to kill a man, but could you watch one die?" Index fingers and thumbs extended, others interlocked.

KAI
PREMONITION OF DANGER
If this cut is fully achieved you may find that you can feel the emotions of others (even at a distance) which can aid in knowing how others will react in a given situation. All fingers interlocked.

JIN
KNOWING THOUGHTS OF OTHERS
I believe that this cut increases your ability to "feel" the thoughts of others. When you are adept at this power you can hide your thoughts and feelings from others. All fingers interlocked inwards.

RETSU
MASTERY OF SPACE AND TIME
Think of this...Have you ever noticed how the day has passed quickly for others but has taken an age for you? Everybody has the ability to control their own "time" With this power one could use it to easily defeat an opponent. The index finger of your left hand pointing up, with the fingers of the right hand curling round it. The thumb of the right hand should be pressed against the outside edge of the nail on the index finger of the left hand).

ZAI
CONTROL OF THE ELEMENTS OF NATURE
Can one truly control nature? Maybe the real answer is that a Ninja understands nature and works with it. Fingers outspread, palms out. Index fingers and thumbs touching.

ZEN
ENLIGHTENMENT
Know yourself before you ask "Who are you?" Right hand covering left hand. Thumb tips touching.

Hand seals in/outside of Naruto (I've seen some of these in Naruto)

The Nine Levels Are:-
RIN - STRENGTH of mind and body
KYO - DIRECTION OF ENERGY
TOH - HARMONY with the universe
SHA - HEALING of self and others
KAI - PREMONITION of danger
JIN - KNOWING THE THOUGHTS OF OTHERS
RETSU - MASTERY OF TIME AND SPACE
ZAI - CONTROL of the elements of nature
ZEN - ENLIGHTENMENT

When you practice the cuts you may wish to concentrate on one at a time or you may feel able to string all nine together. It is suggested that once you are comfortable with the finger positions that you take each cut one at a time and contemplate the meaning of that particular cut.
The meaning will be different for each student. For instance the meaning of RIN for one student may mean being very strong and capable of executive decisions while for another it may be as simple as being physically well and having a positive attitude.
As usual, I leave it to the reader to decide which the better explanation is.
It is a good idea to use the breathing exercise mentioned on the meditation page when you practice the Kuji~in as without the correct breathing you will not realize your full potential.

What you can and cannot learn by yourself

Alright, so you're a Gennin and you wanna be just like Naruto... You want Kagebunshin, Kuchiyose, Henge, Rasengan, Harem, Oiroke, Naruto Rendan, and Kawarimi. Too bad.

The ones from that list that you could take as a Gennin would be Henge, Kawarimi, Oiroke, and Harem. You could probably take Kage Bunshin No jutsu too, seeing as almost everyone on the site has it. But seriously, as a Genin who just started, you can NOT have Kuchiyose, Rasengan.... They're too advanced. This section will talk about choosing techniqes for your character.

Gennin Characters

Assuming that you're not one of the characters from the series, and aren't in some way possessed by an evil demon or something, here's how it works:

As a Gennin, you aren't supposed to be very powerful. This is the sad truth. Imagine Ino level of skill, or maybe Kiba. When you first sign up on the site, you only get 8 jutsus. These should usually include Henge, Bunshin, and Kawarimi, since they were the three all ninjas learn in the accademy. This leaves five. At this point, take what your character does into effect: Is he/she fast? If not, they should probably have good defense. This means that you should have some kind of Shield jutsu, or maybe you could just use kawarimi. It?s up to you.

Just realize there aren't that many ninja geniuses.

Also, always take your bloodline into account. Please, as a Gennin, don't take more than two bloodline limit jutsus! Here are some techniqes for Gennins of various clans:

Akimichi: Baika no jutsu, Nikudan Sensha
Aburame: Kikaichuu no jutsu, Kikai Bunshin no jutsu
Hyuuga: Byakugan, Hakke Shou Kaiten
Inuzuka: Gatsuuga, Juujin Bunshin
Uchiha: Sharingan (Level 2), Katon; Gokakyuu no jutsu
Yamanaka: Ninpou; Shintenshin no jutsu
Nara: Kagemane no Jutsu

On a final note, here are some techniques that I ask that you do not take as a genin.

The following techniques can ONLY be taught to you by your sensei:

Rasengan
Chidori/Raikiri
Kuchiyose no Jutsu
Ura Renge
Omote Renge
Renge

The following Techniques Have Requirements involving actions such as sacrifices:

Mangekyou Sharingan
Many Kinjutsu

The following techniques require extensive training... a number of months must be spent training with them before they can be used successfully:

Hakke Rokojyuu Yonshou
Sharingan higher than level 3
Any of the elemental 'Ryuuka' techniques
Any Kinjutsu
Any Fuuinjutsu

Weapons

Shuriken
The shuriken's tactical advantage is it's small size and concealability, and ability for a quick draw which helps one gain the upper hand by using surprise when attacked. With practice, great accuracy with the shuriken can be achieved, and this enhances its tactical advantage. By momentarily disabling an attacker who could be from 3 to 15 paces away, this gives one precious time to collect your thoughts and move to better position from which to deal with the attack. The big ones are for main attacking while the little ones are just for keeping people at bay or killing. Kind of a sub weapon which needs to be used and help dispose of the enemies. All ninjas have the small ones the big ones are used as main weapons. Such as the one the guy in the first episode used.

Knuckle busters with sharp blades
Sarutobi Asuma uses these. They are on a person?s knuckles and can cut people up and are a good defense against defending a sword. Just like in good old brooklin U.S.A these are regular brass knuckles that are if you don't count the sharp knife-point ends that are on both of them. They are used for close range combat, and for punching and slashing. The knives on the sides of the knuckles make even a dodge painful, for if you do dodge the knuckles, you are sure to be hit with its sharp, peircing edges.

Swords
Some ninjas use short swords or special swords. Not much explanation needs to go into this one. Though most ninjas rely on jutsu and kunai knifes some use swords, such as Orochimaru and Gekkou Hayate use swords. They are a great offence and they are very damaging due to the fact that most battles are occurring in high paced combat it seems to be useless unless both opponents are either at the same speed or their about to attack a weaker more slower opponent.

Smoke bombs
Just your ordinary smoke bombs to conceal a ninja.

Kunai Knifes
A weapon of choice of most genins and a good weapon at that. It can be thrown like a shrunken but can also be used as a close hand to hand combat weapon. You can do pretty much anything with these baby?s.

Exploding tags
Usually go at the end of a kunai knife and blow up after a certain amount of time.

Medical and Poison needles
Thin needles which are used for medical purposes and ones that are used for killing. Only 2 people are known for using these types of weapons, Shizune and Haku.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
Puppets
For puppeteer ninjas these are preferred weapons. They need chakra to be used. They seem to evolve as well which Is either due to the fact that the individual upgrades them or some other mysterious way. Kankuro is the only known person to use them.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
Fan
A destructive offensive fan which uses chakra of their user to create high force wind attacks. They can be used for people to get mobile or for defense. A good weapon but it drains a lot of chakra and needs a lot of strength to be used. Temari is the only known user of this type of weapon.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
Gourd
This holds water but Gaara uses it for mobile sand on the fly. It is a absolute defense and uses chakra to do other sorts of techniques. A well to do weapon to bad gaara can only use it.

Scrolls
Are used for many things such as summoning or medical purposes.

Broad sword
Zabuzas weapon is much like clouds from Final Fantasy Sevens buster sword. A heavy weapon which is able to literally cut almost anything into 2. Though it has immense power it has a draw back that being its.

SameHade
SameHade is the weapon that Hoshigaki Kisame uses; the name means "Shark Skin" Which is ironic as Kisame looks like a shark himself. The blade is not meant "Slice", it's meant to "Shave" people, as the Fins are very sharp.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
Sickle Chain
The Sickle & Chain is a weapon that is worn by two people. The two are connected by a chain that can quite easily cut anything in 2. The chain can be detached so the users may move father away from each other.

Warrior Pills
Warrior Pills are pills which enhance abilitys for a ninja. The pills the Akimichi Clan and Inuzuka clans use are specialized for just their type of fighting style. The akimichi use 3 different pills each one affects the user in different ways but each one causes immense stress on the body and can almost if not kill the user who took the pill. The Inuza clan use pills to enhance their smell or merge with their particular animal, such as dogs or wolfs.

Gamabuntas Daggers
Gamabunta has 2 daggers, they are quite strong, and are bigger than some of the tallest trees. We see the daggers used in the Sennin battle, and against Garra fully transformed.

Tri-Colored Pills
A pill box that has three pills in it, Green, Yellow, and Red. Each pill has and great effect on the body, both good and bad. First, if you take the Green pill, your chakra will multiply ten fold, but if you do, you will not be able to train for 5 hours after use. Then, if you take the yellow pill, your chakra will multiply by fifty, but you will not be able to train for 3 days after use. Finally, you can take the Red pill, if you do, you power will multiply by one hundred times of your current chakra, but if you use this pill, you will face certain death, no matter what you do to stop it. It is only used as a last resort, and should only be used to protect a friend or to kill someone in a lopsided match, though the yellow pill should always get the job done, a time may come when you must sacrifice your most valued item, your life.

Head-Cleaving Sword
A gigantic sword that is used by Zabuza, it is a huge cleaver that is at least 8 ft. It takes a massive amount of energy to use it, and almost that much to hold it up. It is a great weapon, and looks evil as hell. Great for the sword lover, and anyone who likes weapons.

An Animal Pet
It is an animal buddy that can help you in battles. It receives chakra for every hour that you train. The variety of animals that you can buy is Dogs, Frogs, Squirrels, Raccoons, Monkeys, and Rabbits. These may learn a couple of team attacks like, Beast Human Clone that require a food pill. An animal is great in battles, and can sense any foe by using its nose, sight, or hearing.

Poison cure
Only cure for poison needles form the Hidden rain village. Automatic cure that will fix up any poison wound inflicted upon you.

Ointment
Heals small wounds inflicted upon you. Doesn?t cure major wounds, but is good with weapon wounds. Can only be used to cure 5 kunai wounds, 15 poison needle wounds, and 1 stab wound.

Needle umbrella.
An umbrella of the Hidden Rain village, which has 30 poison needles inside of it. When the user Triws the umbrella into the air, it spins spraying the needles at the opponent. To refill the needles, there is a poison needle package bellow.

Umbrella Needle package
Set of needles that can only be used for umbrellas. Costs much less than buying 30 separate needles, and are a great buy.

The Raijin sword
A Kohona secret sword that uses pure chakra as the sole provider of a blade. It is like an energy sword in Yu-Yu hakusho. The more energy that you put into the blade, the stronger the blade, and essentially, the sword itself.

Leg weights
Increases your chakra boosts made in training by a certain amount.

Arm weights
Increases your chakra boosts made in training by a certain amount.

The Basics for RPing on Gaia

How to RP

OOC is short for Out Of Character. During this type of post you can say things that you, as a real person can, while your character doesn't say anything.
Quote:
((This is OOC))

IC is short for In Character. These are the words that your character speaks.

Thoughts are normally posted in italics , but can be changed to however the user wants.
Quote:
I wonder what Seph is doing

Actions are usually posted like this
Quote:
*Action*, ::Action::, or -Action-

Please try your best to type proper words, and sentences. Also, use proper capitals and spell correctly.

Godmodding

There are several types of Godmodding. The most well known is when a character is "all powerful", meaning he never takes damage for hits and he always hits his targets. Now I know you might have powers to some degree, but you can never be so powerful that no one can hurt you. If you want to learn some of the types of Godmodders, read on. To help sort out which things we don't accept, I've separated the two types.

Bad Godmods
The people who never miss a single shot no matter how hard it is (Aimbotters).
The people who can't be hit or just shrug it off (god-moders).
The people who have absurdly strong powers (twinks).
The people who 'balance' thier characters by having a massive but irrelevant weakness and massive powers (min-maxers).
The people who use Out Of Character knowledge to get an edge (Miss Cleos).
The people who do things in hindsight (McFlys).
The people who RP actions and time against others while the others aren't present OOC, but are IC (Shoe elves).
The people who ignore or alter RPs that they don't like (Revisionists).
The people who arbitrarily declare themselves the winner with instant death attacks (Baghdad Bobbits).
The people who've taken actions before they start RPing (Gaseous Snakes).
The people who pull-in elements that were approved in an unrelated RP (Augustines).
The people who declare thier IC threads safe, but readily attack others (NIMBYs).
The people who gain abilities as they need them with no prior exposure (Trinities).
The people who pick-up things that spawn from seemingly nowhere (Quakers).
The people who play as characters that are completely impossible (Oxymorons).
The people who RP other people's characters for them (Puppetmasters).
The people who RP an absurdly time consuming sequence occuring between other people's actions (Speedhackers).
The people who alter thier character as needed for the situation (Zoicite).

Ok Godmods (At Times)
The people who RP other people's characters for them (Puppetmasters).
The people who RP completely irrelevant things (Daydreamers).
The people who use an existing persona and only RP them when it helps (Batmen).
The people who never are without a weapon and ammo (idkfa-ers).

Role-playing Information

Rules for RPing in the GNA:
  1. Don't be stupid
  2. Give us time to stop you, and you aren't all powerful.
  3. Don't be an Idiot
  4. Don't come into our home thread and claim you can destroy us all. It's foolish and rude. If you place a bomb, how'd you get in?
  5. Always indicate which format of speech you are using. For example if you're speaking in Out of Character, indicate it somehow.
  6. All actions must be indicated somewhere. If you're going to the GNA, you'll need to say your walking to it or something.
  7. Try to keep OOC chat at a minimum in RP threads. If you just want to chat about how much you hate/love the Red sox, create an OOC thread.
  8. Have Fun RPing is for fun for you and others. If you come in to try and be funny but are just showing your ignorance, we will probably ignore you.

To get a copy of this (older) go here: http://tutsumi.tripod.com/the_gaian_ninja_academy.doc

Quote:

Academy Students
The academy is where would-be ninjas start at; they are not actually considered ninjas until they graduate. Academy students take formal and practical tests of all sorts and are taught the basics: usage of weapons (such as Kunais and Shurikens), basic ninja skills (such as Henge no Jutsu and Bunshin no Jutsu) and chakra control.
Upon graduating, students receive a special band of fabric with a metal bar bearing the symbol of their village (which can be worn in many ways) and become Genin. What is required for graduation varies from academy to academy.

Genin
(Or literally Low-level ninjas) Genin are the lowest level of Ninja and also the ones that display the most divergence in power (Compare Sakura and Neji, which are both genin). When they become genin, ninjas start to do their bit for their village's economy- being sent on missions that the village gets paid for; however, they are typically sent on D-rank missions, which are the lowest rank and are generally simple, risk-free jobs of manual labor (or in other words, amazingly dull).

Chuunin
(Or literally Mid-level ninjas) Chuunins are ninjas who are qualified to watch over and guide other Ninjas. Some of them function as teachers (such as Iruka) and others serve as military strategists in charge of small teams who need to make decisions and utilise the skills of the shinobi under their command to the maximum effect.
To become a chuunin, a genin has to go through an exam containing three stages: the first stage tests their information gathering abilities and decision-making abilities, the second stage tests their mission accomplishing and adherence to guidelines ability and the third consists of fights between those who passed the previous two stages, watched by a council which decides who becomes a chuunin and who does not.

Tokubetsu Jounin
(Or literally Specialised high-level ninjas) Tokubetsu Jounin are ninjas who, rather than all-around Jounin training, have chosen to specialise in a single area of the training. They are elite specialists in their areas and are often assigned as subordinates to regular Jounin when their services are needed.

Jounin
(Or literally High-level ninjas) Jounins are generally ninjas with great individual skill who have a lot of experience and serve as military captains. They can be sent on B-rank missions and are sometimes assigned as senseis for three-men teams of Genin. It is as of yet unknown what one has to undergo to become one.

Sennin
(Or literally Sage Ninjas) Sennin are Jounin whose powers have reached legendary status and are extremely powerful. Some of them are said to be capable of overpowering small villages on their own.

Kage
Those who achieved the title of Kage are village leaders and are often very powerful ninjas. The Kages- Hokage (of the Fire Country), Mizukage (of the Water Country), Tsuchikage (of the Earth Country), Raikage (of the Lightning Country) and Kazekage (of the Wind Country)- stand equally with the rulers of their countries, oversee the activities of their villages and are the leaders of Ninja culture.

Missing-nin
Missing-nin are ninjas who have abandoned their village. These Shinobis are considered traitors and are hunted down because of the secrets they may hold. Other Hidden Villages would be interested purchasing this information because it could be useful in gaining an upper hand in battle. Villages create special units of Hunter-Nins to take care of this problem.

Hunter-nin
Also known as Body erasers. Each Hidden Village has a team of hunters, given the specific duty of hunting down Missing-Nins. They kill, then completely dispose of the body of their prey, leaving no trace of it and often having wild birds eat at the dead Missing-nin's internal organs and skin. This is done in order to make sure the Village secrets which a Ninja's body holds- such as Chakra types, herbs eaten and NinJutsu- won't be revealed.

NarutoNineTails
now I'm not so sure about rolling like that anymore
I think we should just give enough points so that you'd be able to have 3 high stats out of the 7 stats starting out

30 points to allocate (can only put a max of 10 during character creation)
strength: 1
dexterity: 2
magic: 1
health points: 18 (10 starting + 8 )
intelligence: 8
speech: 8
fame: 2

edit: maybe the health points should be that everyone starts with 10 automatically, and any more points will be extra, like strength's logic
edited the previous posts to reflect that
Lawl at the fact that that's what I wanted. xDDDD

(Knowing me I'd be the one to roll all 2s and 5s.)

Because it's seven fields, though, you might want to make it so that you at least have 35 because of it being 7 stats instead of 6. That, or-- why do we have fame as a stat? IT's totally not being used in battle and I thought that was the only thing all these stats were for anyways. xD (Speech too, maybe sub that out for luck or agility?)
PostPosted: Thu Jun 04, 2015 11:03 pm

35? ok

nooo dude, that's the thing, not all situations in the RP can be solved with violence
if you come across a strong group or something, and everyone is "low level" or it just doesn't look favorable to fight, you can try talking your way out of it
and you have a better chance of succeeding if speech is high
the DM should reward you for using your unique advantages

and, just for the speech example
it's commonly assumed that bandits are uneducated and would attack on sight
if you try to communicate with them instead, and become successful (based off of your speech stat, and what your character actually says in the RP, being polite while not trying to sound condescending to the bandits) then you should definitely be rewarded for pulling that off (the DM should reward you, in that example. Whether it's with information or an actual item, w/e)
basically, it's something you wouldn't have gotten if you chose to slaughter them instead
that's one of the advantages of choosing speech over w/e attack stats
and fame is related to it kind of, idk how to explain it off the top of my head

edit: and that's also why I made the strength stat represent extra damage, and the weapon you carry is the main dmg instead
so someone choosing speech isn't completely helpless without leveling the strength stat

Well for something completely off-topic and random, went back to the archive to dig out some memorable events, was reminded of the character soundtrack I tossed together for Lina. Still wonder what soundtracks would be like for other people's characters xp

I got what you're saying, Naru. I just kinda thought you were doing this just to get rid of God Modding, but to base everything off of the system. I do know where you are someone from, though. How about this; take fame out. Fame isn't something you can just level up, it's something that happens. Just look at a Jo Dirt kinda deal, one minute you're talking about eat off a poo 'meteor,' the next hour you'r a super star, but that only lasts for probably a week.

Social Standing is a different ordeal, but you can be born into something like that, where as all of these other stats are something learned. You can just learn a social standing, it just happens by using your speech. So keep the speech, remove the fame, add in some other physical attribute.

Also, quick question-- so intelligence is legit I.Q. in this case, and not just magic offense / defense? I'm cool with that and all,but that brings up back to something you're born with and not something learned. Your I.Q. is pretty static and you can't learn to have a higher or lower one, you can just try to advance with the best of your ability. For the most part anyone that would put a 1 there would be a special ed case; maybe that's going a bit too in depth with the stats? Just leave that for speech and swap it out with something that would be more useful in full battle situations?

yea it's how smart your character is, in general, it's not directly related to dmg points or magic points

if you start using the logic of "well technically" then that'll stretch to all the stats
so int should be left there
if someone doesn't put any points into int, then their character wouldn't be able to deduce certain facts that are going on around them
like if they start RPing the fact that they picked up on something subtle or a clue in a mystery then that's not aloud, because their character wouldn't be smart enough to figure that out
but at the same time it doesn't mean they're like completely stupid in battle, because that's battle experience-related, not directly intelligence related

LIKE
ugh, I'm starting to see your point, but I really don't want to get rid of int
people are capable of learning, so it should still be an important stat, idk

as for the fame thing I can see your point, idk what to replace that with really
just thought it'd be an interesting thing to add in

edit: there should be more than 1 non-fighting related stat, and int was one of them besides speech and fame

How about this; nix int and fame (because both have nothing to do with leveling up and are inherant or built by external factors,) and make it speech and deduce. People with high dedcution would get things faster.

Thing is, now you're making your job harder. Now you have to tell people how to play their characters, micromanage them, and eventually just make them rage. The more control you have, and the less trust you have in people, the less they will want to be there and the more stressed you will be in the end.

Really, just use this opportunity to get the dice rolling system to something that will get rid of the God Modding in battle, which was the biggest reason it was being implemented in the first place, and trust people from there. If their character ends up sucking in the end they're the one that will feel the backlash in the end when no one wants to put up with their s**t and when people just outright ignore them. (It happens in some RPs I'm in, but not very often at all. Not often enough for it to not be something that can be taken care of.)

good points, didn't think about it like that

Nar im glad you did the roll examples! i think it showed the flaw that most of us were assuming. Thank you.

i also agree and think if we start telling people how they can play their characters that they are going to get upset. I think people should be able to make their character as intelligent as they want them too. But! I do think we can find a way to use wisdom or int. Such as, theres puzzles they can figure out that others cant or they are able to use skills with a greater success rate or learn other skills quickly. Maybe thats complicating it but if we wanted those stats this could be a possible way to use it.

Fame i dont think should be used. I could see it being a popularity contest very easily because we would run into some one that would try to max that out at some point. Fame/popularity i think should be earned and not stats like in real life. I think if we do fame we are opening up a new can of s**t worms that we dont need to deal with.

also my chances to respond are going to be shortened for a week maybe more. Im house sitting and well they have no net.... And apparently my net at home is all fudged up and my net company is saying they wont be able to get to it til next week. Its touch and go, ill try to jump in when i can and hopefully i can everything fixed and up shortly.

:So.

Plot:
100+ years in the future, the whispers of what used to be the GNA have started to spread again. People from all across Gaia, and perhaps other worlds/etc. have come together to find teachings that might have been lost for a century. A few having met up at the ruins, after spending some time trying to find the location, only to find it in shambles.

A "guide" will then arrive and toy with our players a bit to see if they're really interested and present them with a clue to find one of our oldbies. The mission to find them will be hard, due to a mixture of his isolation, people seeking his life and confusing them for companions of his, and of course his own minions trying to protect him. Once found, enter Tutsumi, a second gen. founder and builder of the GNA's second home, now in shambles. Rewards are given, and Tut sets off to start the rebuilding process?
(This can be built to whatever character we want, but I figured this probably fit best as a first mission? Again, I'm willing to have Tut be either good, bad or chaotic neutral here.)

One of the rewards could be a clue to find a person who can help guide them to their personal element. At this point, these powers aren't easy to find, so a shaman of sorts is needed to help guide the person to their element. This is of course just the start, and they won't be able to use it much but over time it will become stronger. It all depends on their creativity with it, how much they use it, and their willpower.

The DM of course can guide all of this, and then start on the future stories with perhaps some kind of round table until an announcement board is made.

Stat system
Players are given a roll of 6, 6 sided dice. Their overall total is the amount of starting stats that they can distribute. This brings us to 36 stats, with a chance to get that +1 stat and is closest to 35 stat points? This goes in line with Fen's suggestion:
Quote:
Strength (3 D-6) - Something you might have practiced your whole life that you may be masterful at. Let's put Robin Hood as an example. His strength is in his bowmanship. He can shoot dead center and shoot moving targets, and he cannot be bested in competition (at least in the famous competition in the books.)

Moderate (2 D-6) - Something you have practiced that you are not an expert at, but you're not completely dumb at either. So say Robin Hood could not always expect to keep a distance, eventually he would have to use his agility to dodge, his strength to fight fist to fist, etc. That could have been his moderate also considered even a 'back up plan' in his case.

Weakness (1 D-6) - Something that you might be able to to to a slight degree, but it's not very powerful. Different example because I can't think of something for Robin Hood, so say you do magic. Well, you can't do anything that really hurts, but say you can strengthen a weapon by using magic to increase the durability or sharpness to a small degree, or you can slow bleeding with a minimal knowledge in something. Basically, you know it, but you suck at it, but with the right roll is can be something at least slightly useful.

Oldbies, depending on how old, are allowed to roll 10/15/20, 8 sided dice to calculate their total points. Example, Tutsumi is likely the oldest member of the GNA at this point, so he gets 20. Ishira's a bit after him so she gets 15. Princess, who came awhile after both, gets 10. This is based on the a council ruling for oldbies, to prevent bad blood. Oldbies are also not to be used willy nilly, but more to help guide the story at times. There's no hard and fast rule to stop them from RPing, so long as they don't influence the story too hard like clearing out the entire path to the end-point (unless the story requires it/a character who is vital is about to die).

Future stats are given out based on how the character performs, if they spend time training or researching, if they prefer melee or magic or ranged weapons, if they spend time doing Sudoku or goofing around, etc. Stats won't be too common, as they can also be piece-pieced until they become a full stat point. Say 2-4 "feats" (and I use the term loosely) to gain a point.
