Hmm, either the guild suddenly died or everyone is hiding in order to throw a surprise party...
I'll try to get things rolling again. Our plot~ As far as i can tell, we all agree that the village was destroyed by a single group in the black spring. Our benefactor decides to step up security with a naval patrol, thus allowing us to repair the village and reopen the academy. Obviously this is going to require money. This could be done during the time skip or we could go into a mission as soon a the guild opens. If the latter, I'm thinking a bounty or assassination, something that won't require a full team.
Meanwhile, we open one room of the academy. When we get more students, i think they should be placed in different rooms and we pretend those students were already there when classes merge for whatever reason. I think one lesson per day should be dedicated to "tracking" or something like that, where students help look for clues on the black spring without knowing it. Piece of cloth with a partial clan symbol, type of damage to determine style of jutsu, etc.
If we need an instructor, i'm not against Xyn being a chunin. He'll be 16 in this timeline.
So what we should do next is definitely a cleaning of the forum, and if we're all agreed on the plot, we should establish it, fill in whatever wholes we find, and begin rework on the system that everyone was talking about b4 i got here.

I have been lurking in the shadows, hoping that Katz would show up so I could bump up some more Crew members ^^;;
Unfortunately, we'll just have to work with what we can for now. I think it wouldn't be a bad idea to do a mission for money for that Naval Patrol. I'd like a lot of our quests to be based around resupplying them or bolstering it in some way. The small academy idea sounds good, but it sounds like more than one person wants to be an instructor. This can work to our advantage though, since you guys can take turns teaching lessons.
If I get some free time tonight (which is likely actually), I'll start moving some of the forums into the Archives. I wish I could make a new Archives thread, but I can't without having a Captain around ^^;;
Semb ~ If you have the time, would you like to be in charge of writing up a semi-through descriptive version of the time skip and what is going on in Shima now? Don't feel the need to go too crazy with it. We don't want to boggle new members down in a super long history, but we want them to know what's going on in the village. Proud old village destroyed by bad guys, rebuilding now with a renewed academy, and a naval patrol backing us up.
If anyone would like to help Semb with that, shoot him some ideas on here or send him a PM.

I'll give it a try. Here's a summary for everyone who's interested.
So 98 a bounty was placed on the heads of Shima by the lord of the fire nation *refrains from making a last airbender joke* 100 the head shinobi went on diplomatic missions to prevent the land of fire from going to war, meanwhile a band of pirates was hired by the fire lord's advisor to attack the island. 101 the head shinobi went on an assassination mission to stop the fire lord from going to war. 102 Orochi mercenaries attacked the village to steal a powerful scroll. The counterattack left Ichi petrified and Shinichi the new kage. 103-104 Decline of the samurai causes civil wars. Dhan goes crazy, and Shinichi, not being the diplomat that Ichi was, is forced to kill him, causing the Meho to attack. 105 A group releases the 2 tail trapped in a sunken ship, then attack the head shinobi after the battle to contain it. The shinobi on the mainland were attack by samurai returning home. Then the remaining Meho attacked the shore. All this allowing the original group to escape.
As I said b4, there's no need for so much death in the black spring. The release of the 2 tail is bad enough. If we cut off the attack there, that still leaves the samurai an unknown threat, and a unknown group that in theory has control of a tailed beast. I think we can just say the Meho are gone, don't know why they remain a threat. The poison the group had should be the main focus, so I think even after repairing the village, one area should remain uninhabitable as we try to discover what this poison is.
If anyone has any comments feel free to post or pm me. The only thing that messes me up is our export. Apparently trades were based solely on Yuki's monopoly on medical jutsu, so we either need a new export or a dedicated medical shinobi.

To Do:
[1] History - Semblance has a great outline that I think works well, esp. with the note of the two tails and such. We ought to decide if we want to use the bijuu or not - we've not used them in the past, though a system was set up [ I can't remember if I set it up here or in Sawa ] for them.
[2] Skeletons and Skills - We need to figure out what Attributes and Skills we want to keep - whether to work with and merge the original lists, or adapt the new list as seen in Maya's profile with Independent/Dependent/Crafting skills. We need to create a new profile skeleton once those things are decided as well.
[3] Threads - Threads should be archived and new ones should be placed. They need to have location photos, descriptions, etc., and stores / marts should have inventory lists as well as pricing.
[4] Per #3, we should decide on a currency system, especially if we are looking to export to make money to build up the village. Things we can export that are non-medical supply include harvesting berries and rice for juices, wines, alcohols, and sake; raising cattle and sheep for leather, wool, and meat; Inuzuka style trained wild dogs for guarding, etc.; ninja pills made with plants and other things; dyes made from plants and berries; things like that. Medical exports don't have to be our focus, we can actually export a great many things depending on what we want to think about as a guild, and how much we actually want to focus on these things.
[5] We need to decide how many characters - and which ones - will be at which ranks. Age can be sort of played with, all things considered. Will we have a Kage or just a group of Chuunin and Jounin trying to get their s**t together? A bunch of Genin to be responsible for? What of the statue of Ichi, is it still in the centre of town? Is there even a town? Are we rebuilding everything, and should that be mission-style too? Missions don't have to always be about going out and killing someone - they can definitely be as 'small' as collecting wood to rebuilt a home with.
[6] Profiles - do we want to have them all together in a single thread, or have a subforum with everyone having their own thread with the title being their character's name? Do we want to separate by rank and move them as they rank? I personally think a [ Profiles ] subforum with everyone having their own thread in there ( once approved ) works best. I'm not looking at what we have now, I'm just typing as I think. If we have this already, awesome, let's stick with it, and if not, I highly highly highly suggest we do this.
[7] Guild Access - If we ever get the VC information, or if Katz shows up at all, I think that the information for the VC mule should be posted in the Moderator section / thread so that anyone with crew access can go and see this information should it ever be needed. Also, I believe there needs to be a guild photobucket, again, with the login information posted in the moderator section. This would help avoid further situations like the one we are in right now, where we haven't got a higher up to promote Crew members to get cleaning and working done properly.
That's all I can think of right now.

If its needed I have a guild just chilling that I'llgladely give full control you guys. You'd could just quickly tranfer all nessasry information and s**t.
I love thatr you guyws are still at this. I was kinda just poking my head and seeing if s**t was still happening.
I'm down to do anything you guys call for, time skip teaching, Navy patrol,
I don't know if I'd ever fit into crew but I'm down for helping in any fashion that I can.

[ Summary ]
A History of Shimagakure
The island village of Shimagakure was founded by Uchiha Ichi in Year 92 with his compatriots Harada Shinichi, Tenmoki Yuki, Hyuuga Nao, Tategami Shuga and Nako Tuhai. In years to come, they would stabilize the village and build an academy to train and teach their children and other inhabitants of Shimagakure. Trade routes were set up, though in such a way to keep the village's location a secret. Uchiha Ichi, who had been made Kage of the village, guarded their home well for years to come.
In Year 98 the Lord of the Land of Fire placed bounties on the heads of Uchida Ichi, Tenmoki Yuki, and Harada Shinichi for being ex-patriots of his lands. The next two years were tense, with the Land of Fire attempting to turn other nations against Shimagakure and its leaders - to no avail. The other nations instead turned to aid Shimagakure and lend their support.
In Year 100, Ichi, Yuki, and Shinichi left Shimagakure to tend to diplomatic calls on the mainland from other nations - only to find out their summons was a trap set by the Land of Fire. While the village leaders were gone, the Land of Fire hired pirates to launch an attack on Shimagakure, only to have the pirates defeated by the higher ranking shinobi of the village. Upon their return, Shimagakure's leaders were filled with pride, and renewed their efforts to protect their home village.
In Year 101, Harada Shinichi and his understudy were sent to the Land of Fire in order to prevent the war that their leader was trying to begin. Though successful, it left Shinichi hanging onto his life by a thread. The Grand Adviser of the Land of Fire was captured, and his memories manipulated by a new ally, Jio Tomoko, who swore allegiance to Shimagakure's Kage. Through this, Shimagakure and the Land of Fire became allies. Around this time, a cannibalistic warlord named Meho Dhan also came to reside on Shimagakure, kept in check by Ichi, Tomoko, and an animal trainer, Natamo.
In Year 102, tensions grew between Shimagakure and the Orochi clan. The theft of a powerful scroll caused Ichi to make the decision to counterattack and retrieve it. In the ensuing battle, Shimagakure emerged victorious - at a heavy cost. Uchiha Ichi was inflicted with Orochi venom, leaving him to become petrified. His body was secretly stolen back from Orochi lands by two young shinobi, and Harada Shinichi was made the new Kage of Shimagakure. It was a time of great sorrow, for many had been loyal to Ichi, and not their home village.
In Years 103-104, nations across the world began to favor shinobi to samurai, leave the warrior class bitter and in ruin. Their decline caused civil wars across nations. In Shimagakure, Ichi's death and Tomoko's disappearance left only Natamo to deal with Meho Dhan - which was not enough. The warlord went on a rampage through the village, and Harada Shinichi - not quite the diplomat his predecessor was - made the decision to kill him. This caused the Meho clan to attack Shimagakure, leaving death and destruction in their path. They were defeated, but the war left many young shinobi dead or orphaned.
In Year 105, an unknown enemy made their way to Shimagakure in order to release the two-tailed beast, Nibi. It awoke in a rampant fury, causing a great deal of destruction over a period of thirteen hours. The shinobi of Shimagakure emerged victorious, though exhausted, and the unknown enemy chose then to strike with strange jutsu. Many of the shinobi were poisoned, allowing enough of a distraction for the enemy to escape. The medical shinobi worked tirelessly to halt the efforts of the poison, but it left an area of Shimagakure uninhabitable - the poison could not be recognized, and therefore, could not be cured. Those infected died or are in a comatose state, and all the while, the samurai on the mainland grow more and more eager to wipe out all shinobi and restore their honor.
Something like that, roughly.
I have a few spare guilds, but we'll see if we can't get access to this one at this moment. Buying a new guild isn't a big issue either, but meh, that's just me.

Proposed Skill Set
I believe the modified skill set / profile we used in Sawa is an adequate amount of skills that we can use in RP for various purposes, with minor tweaking. I have listed the skills and their uses - suggestions are welcome. My descriptions are a little dumbed down and some of you might be in an outrage over my diction, but it's just a quick throw together to work on collectively. Have to start somewhere.
I also believe that the pet system should be adapted to have the same skeleton, and that pets should be second characters. This should be discussed as well in the near future.
Attributes Charisma: A measure of how people and animal friendly you are. Useful for making friends or telling a convincing lie. Endurance: A measure of how far you can push your body. Useful for especially tough training sessions or being able to take a blow in battle and continue fighting. Agility: A measure of how agile you are, including speed, flexibility, and maneuverability. Useful for dodging attacks or sneaking up on people. Wisdom: A measure of how intelligent you are. Useful for learning things, seeing through others' lies, and coming up with strategies. Strength: A measure of how strong you are. Useful for landing powerful hits or doing any other sort of physical task.
Independent Skills Dodge: Avoid incoming attacks Lie: Convince someone else that what you are saying is the truth, even if it isn't Sprint: Get to your opponent faster to try and catch them off guard or get the advantage in a fight Swim: For not drowning Grapple: Pin your opponent and cause pain as well as limiting their movements Tumble: For specific fighting styles, or for minimizing damage when falling from a high place Block: If there's no time to run, bracing yourself for impact may be the next best option.
Dependent Skills Melee: Close range weaponry. Range: Mid to long range weaponry. Medical: Healing arts and techniques. Ninjutsu: Elemental chakra and non-elemental / sealing techniques. Genjutsu: Deception and mind manipulation techniques. Taijutsu: Physical techniques. Stealth: Setting traps, spying, and generally being ninja-like. Arts: Anything to do with music, painting, singing, etc.
Crafting Skills Alchemy: How to make medicines, poisons, and other such things from components purchased or found through Extraction. Blacksmith: How to make weaponry or other metal objects from minerals and metals purchased or found through Mining. Handcrafts: How to make small accessories and gifts, like bracelets, necklaces, scarves, hats, and other things of a similar nature. Extract: How to find useful plants and gather components to use with Alchemy to create medicines, poisons, and other such things. Woodwork: How to find good pieces of lumber and craft them into wooden objects to use or to sell. Mine: How to find useful minerals and metal ores to use with Blacksmithing to create weaponry or other metal objects.

My comments
Crafting Have to say that I really enjoyed Sawa's crafting system [which, as Maya described, separated crafting into 5 types]. If we use that I think it'd be good to have relative experts in that as well. So, for example, Sukotto could be a Ninjutsu expert (as far as possible) while also being a crackin' carpenter. biggrin
Need for medical shinobi/exports If we need a medical shinobi, I was thinking of moving Kane in that direction actually especially since he'd have his flower / plant knowledge to work with. I think this could be really interesting actually since Shima's herbal resources would suffer a huge blow with the poisoning.
Sharing academy duties Sharing academy duties with Xyn would be great as well! It'd certainly give our characters more depth than just being the Iruka of the village XD
Summary I love the history summary. I think it's in-depth enough without being too intimidating for newbies. To add regarding the naval patrols, it could be something like this:
"Due to the confusion caused by the attack, a new emergency leader was installed by the people of Shimagakure. This new leader managed to negotiate a deal of protection with a lord in the Fire Nation, where the lord would provide Shimagakure with naval patrols in return for the shinobis' services whenever required."
(not sure if it was the Fire Nation or whatever)
Guild access and spare guilds I have a few spare guilds as well. I guess that's what you get when you have a ton of Gaia oldbies in the same place XD If Katz doesn't turn up in a bit, I could poke him on FB to just appear and transfer ownership to someone? Or at least provide the login details for Araba Rata.
Sawa stats What happened to the Chakra stat? How did Sawa represent chakra pools/calculate Cp? And as for Lie, would that apply to persuading people to do things they see the point in doing but might not want to do? How about renaming it to Persuade? I also don't know if Sprint is that useful (in the interest of simplification), because Agility already covers speed?
Bijuu I don't think we should include them now. Like Semb said, the two-tails could have wreaked havoc on Shima and then went off somewhere again. It can be introduced as a threat in the future.
Thread/location descriptions I agree with Semb that there should be one area that's cordoned off because it's just too poisonous. [So access is restricted to those with protective gear or with Endurance above XYZ] As for descriptions, I think it'd be easiest to divide the job. So Maya, Semb, I, McClane, Sorri, and whoever else is around (we can roll call) will each be assigned X places (divide it equally) and one week to post the updated version.
Exports I think the environment would be poisoned, so exports of natural products would be compromised severely. This would be a really good way to tie into the new Crafting systems, if they're agreed on, because then Shima would be forced to export things like weapons and wood products which wouldn't be viewed so harmfully by the buyers. [I'm thinking the scare following the Fukushima reactor accident and Japanese food]
We could even take it a step further and pick some arbitrary high number [10,000?] and we could all contribute to lowering it to 0. Once it hits 0, we have a perfect new rebuilt village! [Just assume that crafted items are automatically sold] So even genins and students would be able to contribute to the effort by selling bracelets or whatever.
Completed missions would deduct their gross payment (which would be separate from the individual shinobis' payments) from that number as well.
Profiles Whichever system we do, I think we should let people post their own profiles. I think PMing Crew to add points and stuff is just making mostly unnecessary work for Crew members. If we're worried about cheating, I think checking every level up like we used to do would be good enough.
Village structure I suggest this 1-2 Highest ranked: Jounin-level or above. These two would lead the village and couldn't really afford to leave. Can also teach in the academy. If two, village could probably spare 1 (to lead whichever mission) [Maya? Xyn?]
3-4 Chuunin ranked: One each for ninjutsu, taijutsu, genjutsu, medical ninjutsu (Depending on how lucky we are). These specialists can go on missions and also teach their skills to younger shinobi when they're around Shimagakure. The more 'support' ones (genjutsu/medical) can stick around the village more and also work in the academy. [Kane, Sukotto... ??]
3+ students: Make mischief and learn ninja skills XD Be cute and raise hope for the future. [Maia? Aero's chara?]
I'm not familiar with your characters, Sorri, Sakuran, and anyone else I didn't mention, so I didn't really know what to suggest for yours >.<

McClane should be made captain shortly. I talked with Katz and he was working on recovering the Mule information over the weekend.
As of now, I don't believe Katz will be returning, as he is busy with other things at the moment.
I'm happy to help out where I can, and I'm looking over the past few posts to see what Maya, Kouri and Sem have laid out.

Some of my thoughts:
Skill Set: I like Maya’s idea. I wasn’t really around for Sawa, so I don’t recall anything of the set up. The overall idea of slimming down the skills list is an appealing one in general.
Summary: Maya, I agree with Kouri, I love the summary. It’s short, simple, and to the point without having huge posts with too much detail which would only turn away/intimidate new members.
Guild Access: Katz told me via Facebook that he would be making McClane Guild Captain sometime in the near future (most likely today) and he is working on getting the information for the guild mule so it can be passed on to the crew. (talked to him within the past hour, so that’s the latest information on that front) So there shouldn’t be any need to move to a new guild! smile
Profiles: If the system for stats and all that gets simplified and makes sense to everyone, I completely agree that there should be a forum just for profiles and members should just be able to post their own profile information. It would take a lot of stress off the crew (besides the occasional approval and what not)
I’m pretty sure before the guild went dead, I had a chunin level and an academy student, just an fyi.
EDIT: As of 2:58 (Chicago time) McClane is now Captain nd the mule information is located in the crew lounge
