Dari let this kiss linger. "Sure," he said, his voice definitely dropped to a point of velvety comfort. "I don't need to be at work until nine or ten."
He listened to Cody's explanation then with the same bright smile on his face.
"A surprise for sure," he agreed, and then added: "I'm glad we found each other. Who knew the first one would be the right one, right?"

"Wednesday sound good?" Cody asked. He hadn't thought he could be happier, but if his cup had been brimming before, it was definitely overflowing now. "I'm glad we did. Its like fate wanted us to meet." He gave Dari's hand a squeeze. "I love you."

Dari nodded. Sure, Wednesday. He didn't have any plans. He leaned in and stole a bit more of a passionate kiss. "I love you too." Boy did that feel good to say.

Some time later, as the sun was low against the horizon, Dari finally decided to let Toby know he had no plans of coming home. He simply pulled out his phone and used his arms wrapped around Cody to text. For the position, he took to shorthand.
Plans changed. Won't be home tonight.
Almost immediately: What do you mean?
Plans changed. World not ending.
Coming home tomorrow some time
Movie night.
In three separate texts.
There was a long pause, and then: Be careful from Toby. Dari just smiled and put his phone on the nearest table to settle back in with Cody.

"He dadmodes pretty often," Cody observed, snuggling against Dari. "Does he do that to anyone else? You can't be that much younger than he is. Want to pick the next movie?" He gestured to the movies he'd set out.

"Mostly just me," Dari said with an apologetic smile. He skipped responding to any of the rest of the statement and started picking through the movies. "Hmm..." Again, he'd never be able to forget it. "How about this one?" He put a finger to the transparent cover of one. It had a nice CD design.

Cody got up and put the movie in, selecting play. He shuffled back to the couch and beside Dari. "Are there places you've never been in Arizona that you'd like to go? Have you ever gone camping?"

Well, Dari hadn't, but it would be incredibly incongruous if Toby talked about camping and Dari told the truth about himself.
"Mmhm. Why, do you know a place?" Dari asked. He began to run his fingers through Cody's curls. He wanted so desperately to touch the man, all over.

"Our mountain has a campsite, I thought you might want to go with me. We could hike up to our spot and spend the day there and go back to the campsite when it starts getting dark." He leaned into Dari's touch and smiled. "We could roast marshmallows."

Dari chuckled. "Well now you're just bribing me."
He leaned in for a kiss, a real one, and his other hand slid out of Cody's and traveled up his arm. Ah, so warm, so soft. He had never felt a person like this.

Cody smiled. "If that's what it takes," he said. Bribing with marshmallows. Hah. Dari was worth so much more than sweet treats.
His eyes trailed over Dari for a moment abd then he stole another kiss. "You still taste like candy." He smirked and wrapped an arm around Dari.

Dari had wanted to touch some more, but a kiss was nice too. He smiled at the remark on his taste. Skin didn't absorb things like his normal membrane could. He shifted slightly to get closer to Cody. Maybe he could just ask to touch him under the guise of a massage. The hand around Cody moved to knead Cody's shoulder and Dari gave a happy sigh.

Cody hummed, stealing another kiss. This was nice, being with the person he loved. Being touched by that person--but He was almost nervous. Dari had seemed to think declaring love was too soon. This wasn't? He let his hand trail up Dari's arm, and then down again.
"Do you have me memorized yet?" He teased.

"Your face, yes, but I haven't seen the rest of you," Dari said with a smile. Did Cody not want to be touched? Did he want to be kissed instead? Was he nervous? Ooh, and then his hand went up Dari's arm. Touching time!
"I want to touch you. May I?"

Cody paused for a long moment. He was fairly sure it was too soon to remove his shirt and allow Dari to memorize the rest of him. He didn't want to push and end up upsetting the guy.
Well. Maybe it wouldn't. He seemed curious. He chuckled at the question. "Of course," he said.
