Nornagest I think the Madagascar ones are cute, actually. But I have weird taste in cute; Mexican rose-hipped tarantulae are adorable. I'd estimate the largest at about the size of a small wallet or a largish cellphone. I HATE spiders passionately. gonk They're so scary. I mean, honestly, what needs eight legs, or eight EYES?!

On the upside, you only have to worry about Madagascar hissing cockroaches in exotic pet stores. The largest American roaches I've seen were much smaller and rather cowardly; more worrisome for the housing problems they imply than for their presence per se.
Spiders are another story. I've seen black widows in the weirdest places.
