Sophie couldn't help but giggle just a little bit as the man's brotherly reaction. It all seemed so pointless, and she felt so dismal, and yet he thought he was going to just waltz on in and beat up the Island staff, all on her account. He honestly believed he could do it, too. Her mood brightened a good bit by the warmness of it all, she said, "I guess I never really got to introduce myself, either. My name's Sophie."

Smiling, she rubbed the last bit of tears from her face and looked up at Topher. "You tell me how that thing goes over with the labs, okay? From the sound of it, you're the kinda guy we've all been waiting for." For the first time in their conversation, she sounded hopeful, and if nothing else, she certainly seemed to be feeling better.

Topher smiled slightly at the remark as he blushed a bit, he wasn't a hero but there were times that life tested people and they either sink or swim. Topher was a swimmer. He patted her head and stopped the brotherly embrass, "Sophie huh? Well I geuss I got some work on my hands. Gonna go kick some mad scientist a**! They aint got God on their side." He smiled a bit more at that, it always seemed in tough situations bringing up god or jesus made it easier, like he wasn't alone.

"Well then Sophie, it was sure nice to meet ya and hopefully next time I see ya, you'll be all fixed up! I gotta go." He waved as he started to leave, determined he would indeed change the island in one day.

If only it were that easy.

Sophie couldn't help but smile: the guy really had guts. She watched him leave the cafeteria, then in a slightly better mood, went and picked up the discarded plates, apologizing to the cafeteria lady as she threw the remnants away. She then began the trek back to her own duplex, her day made just by the man's stubborn attitude.

She hoped he would stay the same way when he started to change, too.

Fear had tied him to his empty duplex but it was hunger that urged the sharkboy to take the plunge and leave the safety of those four walls. The cafeteria never seemed so far away and he wished he had the will to ask for a chaperone or some means of security, even though he knew full-well that he couldn't live his life hiding. Not in that place at least.

Although he'd been determined to keep away from the deep jungle at all costs, he knew he had no choice until his bandages were able to come off. The rivers could take him safely closer to civilization but a nagging, motherly voice in the back of his mind told him he best not soak them through, given the extent of his patched up wounds. He'd grabbed a cosiderably thick and lengthy stick from the underbrush and carried it across his lap the entire trek to the Village instead.

The door to the cafeteria swung open, hesitantly hovering in limo as the boy peered wearily inside. His guts were killing him, most likely from the movement required to keep the wheelchair in motion. The wafting scents of cooked food felt alien to him for some reason, like it was somehow all a fake. Nevertheless, he edged the wheels across the threshold and inside the room.

Marshall sighed, his vest sticking to the back of his feathered skin. It was hot. Worse than that, it was humid. It was hot and humid, two things Antarctic based beings had to hate, Marshall figured, dragging his feet along with a stack of envelopes under his arm.

"Need...Drink..." Marshall whined, coming into the cafeteria. He let out a sigh of relief as the cold air conditioning hit his feathered face.

Glancing up, Marshall saw some thing he never thought he'd ever see in a million years: A shark with bark sitting in a wheelchair.

Oh...kay...

Victor crawled his way to the caferteria after finally getting the front door of his duplex open. it was hardly easy getting in and out of any of the buildings anymore, and getting into the caferteria to eat wasn't any different. But he finally managed to work the door open, and force himself inside, scuttling himself inside quickly to keep the door from shutting on his tail or any other part of his body.

But Victor stopped just as soon as he got inside, surprised to see others in the caferteria as well, so far he had been lucky in a way to avoid running into anyone. The lizardman recognised the Penguin guy, and the other he knew, even with the bandages... was that Alec?

"Hhey Alecc!"

Alec flinched when he heard the door swing open shortly after he'd entered the cafeteria, a quick glance over his shoulder giving him the image of the seemingly harmless bird-like man. He felt sick for a moment at how easily he was judging people on a scale of how dangerous they could be now but he couldn't force himself to feel guilty too long. The guy ddidn't look familiar, so the irish teen skidded over to pluck a tray from the awaiting pile instead.

The clacking of scuttling claws on the cold tiled floor couldn't be ignored, on the other hand. Another twitchy gesture was directed towards the doorway as Victor made his entrance, the disturbing image of countless flailing limbs as the mutilated lump of scales came clattering towards him made him want to leap out of his seat and climb atop the buffet counter. Worst yet, it knew his name. Waves of nausea once again as he realized he must know this poor unfortunate soul but he couldn't for the life of him recognize a single feature. Marble-black eyes angled towards the mishappen creature, a mixed expression of shock and strong concentration on his bruised visage. "Ay." He gave the generalized response, quiet and subdued.

Marshall turned around, greeted with...A two mouthed, scuttling monstrosity.

RUN AWAY!...ARGH! ******** LEGS! ******** YOU! ******** YOU AND YOUR INABILITY TO MOVE! STUPID LEGS!

So, the Penguin man stood there, eyes wide, clutching to a pile of envelopes. A black and white freakish lizard to one side of him and a shark with bark on his other side.

...I'm trapped!

Victor silently cringed as he saw both Alec's and Marshall's reaction, he just hoped that neither of them started throwing stuff at him or threaten to cave his skull in. the lizardman did his best to keep that large extra mouth of his closed, and not freak either person out any more than they probably already were.

"Alecc, Itsss Vicctorr, we rran into eacchh othherr a whhile aggo....I wassss ggoingg to be thhe Shhrinkk, talkked about hhow you likke Meatloaf and didn't likke Scchhool"

Alec gripped his tray in both hands, steadying his arms as he stared at the scaley man as he lisped out his words. The second jaw distracted him as it twitched now and then so that eye contact was difficult to maintain. "Victeh, ye..." The boy breathed the name, appearing the remember him well enough. It was a crying shame he looked like that now. He had no desire to inquire about any of the inconsistancies of his odd serum, figuring a man looking like that would be sensitive about the topic to say the least. "'ow ye fairin'?" A generalized reply once again as he reached unsurely to spoon some hot soup into a bowl. The other was staring now, enough to make even him uncomfortable though he was convinced that Victor was the source of the spectacle. Unsure if he should say anything at all to the birdman, he continued his activities with an eye on Victor out of respect.

Slowly, Marshall did a small crab-walk, expression non-changing, towards the refrigerator. Just get an Orange Soda and get out...Don't start a fight with either of them...Last thing you want is to die like, a week before your birthday...

Then he heard a very familiar name: Alec. Now, Marshall never had the best memory, but he did remember meeting a rather sharky-looking person before any of his changes. Alec!

Oh crap...DO I SAY HI OR WHAT??!

"About assss well assss ccan be expeccted Alecc, lookkss likke you hhave hhad a difficcult time yourrsssself" Victor said, as he spoke now, despite his efforts to keep his other mouth closed, it moved, mimicing the words he said, the large tongue flicking and moving as he stayed steated where he was by the door, not wanting to look threatening, though it was difficult. The large splinted limb on the left side of his back still throbbed even with the painkillers he had that morning.

The Lizardman's gaze soon shifted back to the bird-man, who looked like he wanted to avoid the situation at all costs.

"I rrmemberr you" Victor said to Marshall "We meet in the Enterrtainment Rroom, but thhat wassss beforre I chhangged aggain, and Ssssorry if I ssssccarred you"

The sharkboy chuffed a laugh, turning in his wheelchair to reach for the meat he'd pile onto his plate. "Ye... 'f wasn't bad eh-nough lookin li' this, a' gotteh ge' meself all slice n' dice." It felt awkward talking about himself, especially when someone so unfortunate was around. The fact that he was almost killed by a giant tigerman still didn't seem as bads as the hand Victor had been dealt. Mumbling something to himself, the boy snatched a few bottles of water to fill the crevaces of his wheelchair for later. In the process, he grabbed some extra and held one out to Victor, the other in the direction of the birdman who still seemed rather awe-struck by the situation. He didn't know if either of his peace offerings would go over well but he knew that if worst came to worst, they'd go to good use in his possession.

"Sa-sa-scahrad meh? Nah! Neh-Nehah! Re-Really!" Marshall said, none too convincingly as he slowly came forward, taking the bottle of watter and clinging to it for dear life.

"Ahctuahly...Ah, Ah meht Ahlec befoah..." Marshall said sheepishly.

...RUN! ******** YOU LEGS! RUN LIKE HELL!

Victor nodded to Alec, wondering to himself about what he meant about 'slice and dice' but decided it probably would be best to keep quiet about it in case it was something sensitive. But Victor didn't hesitate at Alec's offer of a water bottle, and crawled his way closer, tripping and stumbling only once in hist short journey, but managed to get himself back up to finish closing the distance to reach up and take the offered water bottle from the shark boy.

"Thhankkssss Alecc" Victor said as he twisted the the cap off to take a drink. Afterwards Victor backed away a short distance from Marshall, the poor guy looked ready to bolt out of the caferteria.

"If it wouldn't be too mucchh trrouble...ccould you grrab me a plate and tosssss a ssssteak orr sssssome sssussshi on therre? I can't rreacchh the food line verry well now" Victor asked Marshall
