Man, you've missed out then. I'm sick of all the explosions and stuff. rofl My character's missed out on all the REAL LIFE stuff since she's been busy dealing with Armageddon after Armageddon.

I think some sense of normalcy adds to the characters, because it helps maintain their persona and familiarity. Doing "normal things" such as drinking, or relaxing IC, whatever, allows for characters to have "down time."
However, I think that there does need to be more to roleplaying than just that, because then you're just playing an extraordinary character doing ordinary things. I don't consider tournaments to be ordinary because they're heavily dependent on fantasy elements and are usually over the top in scale and scope. But it would be nice to have other things going on.
The thing is, with stuff like that, you have to do it yourself. You have to make the organizations, start the stories, do the DM work if required. There just won't be a spontaneous criminal element seeping into threads, it has to be played. There won't be a forcible takeover, it has to be done by someone. There can't be an invasion of some kind of NPCs without someone DMing them. Stories aren't told without storytellers.
Even simple things like rivalry, or the right kinds of threads; non-standard locations like forts or dojos that might house organizations, can help the process.
It would also help to have some sort of metaphorical 'gum' to glue together various parts of the RP community, which is what the Mainstream is for. I've been meaning to post the rough draft for some time, but just never found a good time for it.

Tournaments should be more like Pro Wrestling. We should just call each other jabronis and candy asses for an hour. That way we can all be obnoxious ******** in character instead of out.

Just Naota Tournaments should be more like Pro Wrestling. We should just call each other jabronis and candy asses for an hour. That way we can all be obnoxious ******** in character instead of out. That would require short interviews with a fighter. But we all know they'll be "Well, I'm just having a good time and hope to see what happens." Basically, boxing and UFC interviews.

I would do an "rp event", but I wouldn't taken seriously. Which is funny seeing as how... nvm.
Next year's GTB should be WWF.

Ugh.
Well, I'm settled into college, but still not quite used to the fact that noises down the hall aren't my parents (s**t, it's mom, I should be doing my hom--waaaait...) and the schedule is whacked out compared to high school. That, and I've just ran out of shits to give, for a lot of things.
Apologies to Naota.

Vintrict. That's the gayest s**t. Why would anyone do that? An interview with a fighter should only be about how they're going to put such and such through a table and how they're going to be destroyed by their retarded special move.
@ Kaz
Don't sweat it. It's cool.

As far as I'm concerned, anyone can host an event as long as they have a good draw to pull people in, and don't bumble around like a ******** without getting s**t done. Doing more an event that isn't a tournament is even harder than a tournament, because you have to actively GM s**t.
