Where I’m From
I am from summer days the melt you beneath it ferocious rays
From ocean waves crashing on shore and bird humming their melodies above with the clouds
I am from when night becomes day
From dazzling lights overhead and famous stars bellow my feet
I am from a place known by others as “The Sun Shine State”
This relaxing getaway is where I’m from
I am from a mixture of flavors and aromas that fill the air around you
From green open fields that seem to dance with the win that brushes by
I am from friendly people walking on the streets of the colorfully painted city
From history that has infused with the everyday sights and sounds
I am from tradition that runs deep in my veins like the blood that follows through out my body
This honesty is where I’m from
I am from a long tree with many leaves attached
From rambunctious and off the wall party animals to successful and persevering individuals
I am from people whom which togetherness comes as second nature
From I need you with me and I’ll be there if you falter
I am from warmth and love that stirrer in the air in which we breathe
This tree of people is where I’m from
I am from hard pews and welcoming smiles
From people an their knees crying out for guidance and others who stand beside them to mop the tears of pain and sorrow
I am from forgiveness and repent
From prayers that reach the depths of the soul and songs that sing what we cannot say
I am from a place that grasps you with the arms of many and insure understanding and trust
This faith is where I’m from
