Earendil stared at Lin for several long moments, then at Nina. The kirin made even less sense than he remembered.
"All ... right then," he nodded. "Yeah ... there are ... veggies for you ..."
If that was her idea of a snack.
He started off down the hall again, going through the twists and turns of the maze towards one of the exits.

"Yay!" Nina followed quiet happily at the idea of food, because she liked food a lot, especially veggies, "Yummy veggies... in my tummy."
Lin rode upon her back laying on her stomach since she was small enough that she could.

Earendil didn't lead the two back to where they had entered the maze; that would have been taking the long way. No, this time he led them down a completely new path, one he hadn't taken in quite a long time.
When he reached his destination, a particularly long corridor without any doors leading out from it on either side, he stopped. It looked like ... a dead end.

"Is there something there?"
To Lin it looked like a dead end, but she was sure he wouldn't have gone the wrong way, that would have been dangerous. Then she couldn't understand why they were staring at what looked to be a dead end.

Earandil used his magic once more, reaching out with his voice. A moment later, he nodded certainly and reached out one hand, and one section of the wall started glowing red. A moment later, the entire section vanished, and in its place was a large doorway that led to a well-lit hall that wasn't quite the same as the rest of the labyrinth.
"In here," he grinned down at his two companions, beckoning for them to head inside.

Nina trotted along side Earandil looking at where he was leading them, though she had no idea where it was. It had been a while since she had been here and things had changed since then anyhow.

Once through the doorway, Earendil turned and re-solidified the wall. Then he led them through the large room they had entered.
"The armoury," he explained, nodding at the mounted breastplates, helmets, and swords that lined the walls. "Ada works in here during the day, so I can only come through here at night. I'm not supposed to be in here at all, but it's the fastest way to the kitchens from the labyrinth."

Lin looked around in obvious interest, while she had seen swords, she had never seen armour. No one in her family, even the fighters used armour while fighting. Well, that and she had a great interest in sharp pointy objects, not to the scary extent of Mia fortunately speaking.

Earendil noticed Lin's interested gaze, and he smiled. "You like it?" he asked, wondering exactly how much like her father she was. He'd been told about Donovan.

Lin nodded, "The swords are interesting," she murmrued thoughfully, "I've never seen armour before."
Not that she would plan on wearing any, she wanted to do quick things, and she couldn't do that if she had armour on, or move.. she wanted to move freely.

Earendil suddenly had an image in his head of the tiny girl wearing a helm and breastplate of littinum. He chuckled. As light as the metal was, he didn't know if it would be quite light enough for her anyways. In chainmail perhaps, but not as was.
Still, he could see Tinuviel asking their father if he would try. She liked dressing things up.
That just canceled his amusement right then and there. Tinuviel was gone, off to visit their grandmother, while he was stuck here ... but no, he had guests, he was content to remain behind.
"Maybe when you're bigger, you could come back, and Ada could make you a blade of your own," he suggested as all boys do, wanting to please and to impress. "Maybe not a sword, maybe just some throwing knives or something."
Of course, she would have to be a lot bigger before Ruel would even consider such a thing.

"Throwing knives would be better," she wanted the type that her father had, but she didn't knwo what they were called, they weren't knives, and they weren't actually Chinese in origin.
Rumours had it the weapon was introduced to the clan by a Japanese clan.

Earendil chuckled as they left the armoury and headed down a wide hall. Here, there were guards posted every ten feet or so, on each side of the hallway, but he ignored them as completely as they seemed to ignore him - though of course they were being watchful of their young prince.

Lin looked back at the guards, she didn't like people watching her, and even though it didn't look they were watdching she was sure they were. Kind of like the way her Daddy would watch without actually looking like he watched. Looking back at Earendil, she wondered if the guards ever got bored.

While it would have been possible for Earendil to take another secret passage into the kitchens, he would never do such a thing when there were guards around. Why? Because he enjoyed his little secrets.
"In here," he said, grinning down at Lin and Nina, and showing them through a simple, plain wooden door.
