Ulani shrugged. "You say his anger can't last forever," she murmured, "and you're right; but six years is hardly forever, and even if he does eventually get over it, the sight of his brothers, the reminder of their responses to finding out what Elnara is ... will only refresh the anger."

She sighed. "Unless I am very much mistaken, nothing short of them accepting Elnara back will ever redeem them in his eyes."

A pause.

"Like that would ever happen."

Ulani smiled as she finished her food. "I'm afraid I'm not exactly a shining example on that score," she laughed. "Far from it ... Though I've changed since I was young, I was the one who would fight to the finish ..."

She trailed off, still smiling - though her smile was sad.

Yes ... the finish ... where she had been forced to kill her own cousin.

Ulani raised one eyebrow. "I sense a story there," she murmured suggestively. "Care to share? Or is it not my business?"

She eyed the nearly finished obis and wondered how much more there was to do on them.

Miyu had managed a bit better even though there was food puddled at her feet from when the spoon tipped, it was far too big for her to use properly. So her hands were covered in the stuff.

Kara giggled at the two before answering Ulani, "It's short for Gaberial, he's the brother of my father. I don't know how much he told you while he was here with Gion, but.... originally father's family had no magic so when he began to see things others couldn't well.... first reaction was to put him in a mental insitution, the second was to ship him off to school and never let him come back. It was the latter, and Uncle Gab just stood by and let it happen... the two hadn't had contact since father left for school," she scratched the back of her head, "About a year after I thought he died, Uncle Gab visited the school to see me and my sister. To try and make up in his own way, it took nearly two decades to get that far, sometimes we write, but he travels a lot and has a lot of baggage on his shoulders."

"Yes, I think that's why Uncle didn't come before, father didn't always have the gift of sight, he got he after he nearly drowned in the ocean," Kara helped by getting to clean up Miyu, "He was the elder of the two, so he was suppose to look after father, but he does well. Maybe he'll visit again," she mused.

And maybe bring back pictures since she was sure her human grandfather would have grown mellow by now.

Kara laughed a bit getting Miyu to hold out her hands, "Hey, it's more likely for him to visit than my grandfather the stubborn goat. Between that and the fact the former head of my mother's clan despised him greatly does not help matters."

She giggled a bit, then there was her grandmother, she had only met the woman before her father had died and wondered how on earth did the lady married a lawyer. The term being blonde applied to her.

Kara sighed as she picked up the obi to finish hemming it, "My father and mother come from very different cultural backgrounds, second sight is highly valued among my mother's clan so the head thought grandfather I was a fool."

It was a strange thing about Gaia she would have to admit, what was valued and what was not.

"The obi is nearly done," Kara nodded as she began to finish it off, "Good thing too, because these two became very messy while eating," she giggled, "It's hard to get use to again the fact they're so small when they eat."

She snapped off the thread, knoting it up.
