Isiah picked up Tsurai by his upper arms, setting him on his feet, holding him steady. "I'm gonna put a little more weight of yours on your legs, okay?"

"Yeah. just.. Ngh." Tsurai's knees buckled under him, but the boy reall wanted to quit being babied, so he attempted to stand up straight again, Isiah still holding him.
When Isiah put more weight for Tsurai to hold, his knees buckled again. But he didn't want to give up on this. Third time's a charm, right?

Isiah held sturdily onto his shoulders, watching him struggle. He'd give the kid one more try before slinging him back over his shoulders and heading toward town. He wasn't sure how long his strength would hold out, but he wanted to give his best and get into town before it gave.

Tsurai took a deep breath, trying to ward away the pain of straining his muscles. He was able to stand. Finally.
"O-okay.." Tsurai said, obviously struggling. "You can let go now..."

Isiah released him, walking backwards a few steps, hands open should he need to catch him.

Tsurai gave a sigh of relief, standing still for a moment.
Finally, he took a deep breath and took a step forward. Of course, his body didn't like this, and he ended up falling flat on his face, dust shooting upward from the impact.
Looked like he was going to have to suck it up and be babied, afterall. Man, did this situation suck.

Isiah laughed a little, picking Tsurai up, wiping his face clean of dirt. "Y'know, you gotta learn when to throw in the towel. It's gonna kill you." Isiah leaned over and picked up the duffle, slinging it over his shoulder. "Well.. how much longer do we have to go?"

Tsurai grumbled, wiping his own face of after slapping Isiah away.
"I dunno, why are you asking me? You're the one who's all 'We have to get into town before nightfall and kill myself in the process from heat stroke!' Jesus. It's right there."
Tsurai pointed to the edge of black against the purple-blue gases of the sky's new color.
"We just walk till we get there, right? Did some braincells melt when you were sleeping?!"
Besides, what authority did Isiah have to repeat Tsurai's word to him? Knowing when to give up. Bah! Tsurai knew when to give up!

Isiah rolled his eyes, giving a short grunt of dissaproval after having his hand slapped away. He frowned in a motherly manner, pushing himself forward toward where Tsurai had pointed. His legs protested with every step- he ignored the burn. Building muscle mass, he told himself. Greeeeat. More muscles to feed.

Tsurai frowned, watching Isiah try to walk. With a sigh, he laid back down on his side. "We can wait. Don't push yourself."
That and a notable thought of "You're forgetting me and the duffelbag" crossed his mind. But that didn't matter. Niether of them were going anywhere if they both couldn't walk.

Isiah groaned, shaking his head back and forth slowly. "Losin' my mind.." He turned around, slinging the dufflebag over his shoulders, taking Tsurai gently by the back of his neck to lift him onto his knees before hefting him into his arms. He took a moment to balance the boy in his grips before starting toward where Tsurai had pointed him.
"If I were in better shape, this wouldn't be so damn hard.."

Tsurai frowned again. "Well maybe if you didn't do anything we could do this tomorrow."
The boy tensed up all his sore muscles, preparing for a fall any minute.
"Really. I mean it. Don't push yourself."
Oh, the irony.

Isiah grunted, more out of dissaproval than out of effort. Once he found the rhythm it wouldn't be so hard. Tsurai had a lot of gall (gaul?) to tell him not to push himself, considering.. Five years ago, he mused. Five years ago before the fall and before we were down to eating freeze dried horse s**t, this would have been a piece of cake.

The eighteen year old sighed in unapproval, but didn't say anything otherwise, and loosened up.
He wondered why nobody made some sort of mass migration to the next town, though, since it was so close. Only a day, wasn't it? Tsurai couldn't remember any more and closed his eyes.
Thirty minutes later they had gotten close to what looked to be the remnants of a big huge corporate building of somesort. All the little walls were fashioned into half-canvas-half walled homes. The building was so wide instead of tall, it might've been a school instead of a corporate building.
Had Tsurai been awake, he would've figured out that nobody had made the mass migration because there simply wasn't enough room left.
And he would've also wondered why he was able to sleep so much and so often without any problem.

Isiah's legs were shaking by the time he had crossed back into 'civilization'- He had managed to make his way at least into the inside front corner of the 'building' before falling to his knees as gingerly as possible. He set Tsurai down on the ground, laying him lengthwise against the wall. His nostrils flared, then closed at the strong, pungent scent of way too many people living in a tiny space.
He felt eyes following him, and he struggled to keep his limbs from shaking. The tattoos had always helped him look intimidating, but his weak entrance was enough to make him seem nearly human- human enough to be pushed around. For the mean time, he hoped they'd be enough to let him and Tsurai get some rest.
He ran his eyes over the crowded space and began to wonder if it was such a good idea to leave in the first place..
