Portabello yelled out in pain, the damage the Machamp had done caught up to him in full as the massive claw put the squeeze on him. Mike shrieked at the crushing power of Kingler's Vicegrip, lifting up a ball. "Return Portabello!" the boy cried out, recalling his Pokemon before the vicous crab could do more damage. "You fought unbelievably well..." he said softly, clipping the Pokeball to his strap.
It was time to make his escape. Gripping his final Pokemon, Mike tossed it into the air. "Beacon ready set?" Emerging from the white light the dopey Ampharos waddled onto the arena, clueless as always to the real plan. Perfect, I just need a distraction and I'm gone. "Beacon Thunderbolt that Kingler!" Crackling with static electricity, he fired a lightning bolt straight at the Pokemon, the blast stopping short just a few feet and colliding with the ground, dirt and debris flying into Giovanni and his Pokemon.
Er, that wasn't how it was supposed to go but alright! He recalled Beacon, activating his gloves. Smoke shot out as he ran at top speed out of the arena before Giovanni could even notice he was gone.

Akane returned from her long hot shower dressed in pokemon center bath robe, padding out a little nervously in the matching Pokemon center slippers. Her clothes were all soaked and currently drying.
The place was empty, except for Nurse Joy, who was eating a cup of noodles behind the counter. A second cup was waiting for Akane. "I thought you might be hungry" she said pointing to the other cup. "I'm Nurse Joy". She proffered a hand to Akane after placing her chopsticks across her cup. "Akane" the young girl replied, shaking the nurse's hand. "Is Twinkers okay?". Concern was evident on her face.
"Of course, Akane. She should be nice and warm now. I'll just go get her, you just sit there and worry about eating those noodles, okay?". Nurse Joy left Akane with her steaming cup of noodles and her thoughts. The storm outside was as turbulent as what was inside her head, but at least Twinkers was okay. Akane picked up her food and was just about to eat when there was a tremendous flash of lightning, a loud bang and everything went dark ....

Akane was a little scared, and took a bite of her noodles, swallowing hard. Where did the lights go? Where was the nice nurse? Where was Twinkers?
Without too much delay a soft glow started from the room Nurse Joy went to. It got slightly brighter and presently Joy returned with Twinkers hugged under one arm and a candle in a paper holder in her other hand. "Fa fa!" exclaimed the tiny Cleffa as she saw her bestest friend again. "Clefaaa!". Akane quickly put the noodles down and caught the leaping Cleffa, hugging it tightly. "Twinkers!"
"You were very lucky, Akane. A few seconds later and your Cleffa would have ben stuck in the Storage system until the power came back on." Nurse Joy looked a little worried. "I think that last bolt of lightning hit the generator and cut us off from the power grid ... could I ask you to go and run for some help?"

Mike dashed through the familiar hallways of the now busted up Gym, giggling to himself. "I am SO cool!!" He could barely contain himself, the pure high of taking on Giovanni, and not doing to bad either. "Maybe soon I can take him on officially and get his badge!" He was almost out, the light at the end of the tunnel. He saw the ripped doorway, three figures stood some ways away. "Guys I made it!" He shouted, a mile wide smile on his face.

Nina breathed a sigh of relief when she heard Mike's voice. Turning around she saw the boy running to her, Kasiya, and Flannery, and she smiled a little when he caught up with them. Her smile faded after a moment or so, however, and she looked aside, before looking back to Mike.
"Mike," she said, "I'm... really sorry that I did all of this stuff and dragged you into it. I'm so sorry that I said those things to you; you know that I didn't mean any of it." Nina felt this was a pathetic attempt at an apology but figured it was at least worth being said.

"WHAT?!" he roared, closing his eyes and lifting an arm to cover his face. He coughed heavily, the smoke flooding the arena of his Gym. He continued to cough, waving his hand uselessly to clear the smoke. It was a few moments before everything became visible again. His eyes narrowed, then widened at the shock that the boy was gone. Giovanni let out a roar of anger, and then look at the ground, smirking. He began to laugh. "I'm giving those kids less credit than they're worth. They're not stupid," he recalled all of his Pokemon and slipped their Pokeballs into his pocket. He turned to head up to his office.
"Rockets!" he demanded, having snapped his fingers and reaching the top of the staircase. It was a minute or two before they had all appeared before him. "We may have been defeated today, and by children no less. However, that does not hinder the progress of Team Rocket!" He stared them all down from the top step.
"And clean this mess up."

Kasiya flashed Mike a relieved smile as he came running towards them, still holding Digger's Pokeball tightly to her chest. "I think we shoud keep going," Kasiya said, looking back to the gym behind them. Smoke was pouring through the hole in the roof, and she was sure that the Rockets would soon be swarming about. "If they catch us, I'm sure it won't be a good thing. The Pokemon Center, maybe?" she asked, nodding in its general direction, and walking ahead a little, figuring she'd give Mike and Nina a little time to themselves.

The Swalot slowly rose, leaving an unconscious Arbok on the ground in its wake. Keegan mumbled something to himself and held out Loki's Pokeball to recall him. The Cobra Pokemon disappeared in a flash of red light, leaving the boy with only two options now. Helios or Artemis? A sudden image of the tiny Taillow being crushed under the massive body weight of Swallot crossed his mind, and he shuddered, and sent out his trusty Vulpix, Helios, next. "Let's go Helios! Let's turn up the heat! Heat Wave!" he called. Helios took a second to study his opponent before he took a few steps back, and inhaled deeply. A second later he breathed out, an intense vapour of swirling heat and flame engulfed the battlefield.

Flannery's gaze shifted towards Mike and Nina, and she followed Kasiya's lead, deciding to give the two time to mend their friendship. She ran to catch up with the blonde girl, her long legs making up the distance in only a few strides. "You were really great back there," the gym leader said as she caught up. "I don't know what you said to her, but it was simply awesome." She flashed Kasiya a genuine smile, glancing back at the two for a second. "I don't know where the Pokemon Center is in this town," she added, suddenly feeling a little homesick for Lavaridge's familiar scenery.

The Swalot cried out in pain as its body seemed to be on fire from the fierce attack. "Shake it off, Swalot! Body Slam that little imp!"
Little imp? thought Keegan, mildy offended, as the large Pokemon converged on the much-smaller Vulpix. Helios rolled to the side, his left hind leg getting caught in the attack, and he cried out in pain. "Slow it down!" Keegan called, also irritated that after taking a direct hit from the Heat Wave, the Swalot was still standing and eager to fight. "Confuse Ray!"
Helios pulled his trapped limb free and darted away, greatly relieved to have speed on his side. The Vuplix whirled around, his six tails fanning out behind him impressively as he stared down the Swalot, his eyes glowing with an eerie violet light that was soon reflected in the poison Pokemon's eyes; it had been struck with confusion.

"It's this way, don't worry, I'll show you," Kasiya said with a nod. "And thanks. For a while there, I didn't think I was going to get through to her..." She sighed, and looked at the Pokeball in her hand. "I just can't believe she's gone..." Kasiya could feel tears stinging her eyes, and she hurried her pace a little, not wanting Nina or Mike to see her crying. Again.

"Fight it off, Swalot! Pound it!" Randy yelled, sensing victory at hand. Swalot's eyes shone with clarity for a moment as it came forward, bringing down one its powerful limbs onto Helios. The Vulpix cried out in pain, jumping to the side as another Pound nearly found its mark.
Keegan grit his teeth, and called for Helios to use an Ember attack, praying for confusion to set in. Seemingly, his prayers were answered as Helios unleashed the small burst of flames into the face of his larger opponent, and Swalot found itself unable to comply with his trainer's command to use Body Slam once more, managing to hit itself. Both Pokemon were looking rather weak by this point, and Keegan knew that one more hit would knock Helios out for sure. "Ember!" he called again. Helios was hesitant for a moment, breathing heavily, but he jumped up, another direct hit with the small, yet scorching attack.
"Sludge Bomb!" Randy yelled back, and again, with perfect clarity, Swalot launched the attack, sending an explosive ball of toxic sludge flying at Helios, who was KO'd instantly.

"Who's gone? Your friend's sister?" Flannery asked, feeling a little stupid for asking. She glanced off to the side, feeling a little awkward. "I-it's hrd," she said, trying to think of something reassuring to say. "But you should try and think of good memories you have of her." She smiled, and put a hand on Kasiya's shoulder.

The boy wore a frown which was slowly fading away. "I accept your apology, but it'll take me a while to forgive you." He took a step forward in the direction of the Pokemon Center, motioning for Nina to follow. "Some of you wanted to say what you did, I don't beleive that anyone can completely lose control, no matter what the circumstances. There must have been some truth to what you said."
Mike looked down, still hurting from the hateful tone Nina spoke to him in no less than twenty minutes ago. It just hurts, that's all.
His Pokemon needed healing badly, he quickened his pace to catch up with his friends.

"Yeah, you're right," Kasiya sniffled, wiping her eyes again. She hated herself for crying so much. "Thank you." She smiled at the gym leader, feeling a profound respect for the red-head before her. "I've got to be strong, for Nina's, and everyone else's sake." She cast a glance backwards, seeing Mike hurring to catch up with them. He looks so hurt, Kasiya thought, suddenly wondering what Nina had said to him. She gave him a warm smile, and a slight wave, turning back to watch where she was going a second too late, as she tripped over a small rock and tumbled down. "Fabulous," she muttered, getting to her feet rather quickly and brushing herself off. "My ankle is never going to heal at this rate." She cast a sheepsih grin at Flannery, and made a bad attempt at pretending it didn't happen. I always trip myself up when he's around, she thought, keeping her eyes on the ground as she walked.
