Ilandere handed Izzy the piece of parchment that Themba had scribbled on so she could read it.
“You might want to hold out on breakfast.” She said getting shakily to her feet. There was pain but she had over-estimated it. Izzy finished reading the parchment and gave Ilandere a questioning look.
“Saint Dane’s not back on Zadaa yet. He left last night, or so I thought. You were wondering why Lily’s acolyte knew where you live? I have a feeling that wasn’t really her acolyte.” Ilandere said while limping towards the door, “We have to find Lily. I have a feeling Saint Dane hasn’t left Cloral quite yet.”
~*~*~*~*~
Themba tried to hide the light from his ring as best he could as he sent the note to Ilandere. He was terrified. Truly terrified. It wasn’t the bleak cell he was in that scared him. It was the fear that Ilandere might try and come to his aid. Saint Dane would surely kill them both if she did so.
Themba put his ring back on his finger next to his betrothal ring. He was sad that he might never see that particular day come. Her stood and began pacing, thinking of possible ways to get out, but he knew there were none. Themba turned and kicked the wall in frustration, letting out an angry cry. He heard the door swing open behind him and a small bit of light flooded into the dark cell.
“You shouldn’t do that to yourself, Themba.” A cold voice cackled, “You’re not doing any good.”
Themba turned to face the demon in the doorway. Saint Dane. Themba’s eyes met his and he looked away angrily. There was someone draped over his shoulder. It looked like a young girl. Themba prayed that it wasn’t Ilandere.
He gave the young girl another look and noticed that her figure was different from Ilandere’s, but he was worried none the less. Saint Dane dropped the girl to the floor with an inhuman brutality and turned away.
“Lily shouldn’t have struggled so much, now shouldn’t she?” he seethed, then shut the cell door behind him. Themba scrambled to the girl and flipped her over onto her back. She was alive but didn’t look too great. He lifted her up and laid her down on the thin grass mat that was in the corner of the small cell. He sat besides her, waiting for her to awaken. There was nothing more that he could do for her.
((Yesh! You ish shtuck on Zadaa now! Crap... we gotta go get you...oh well, all the more reason for everyone to come! Yay!!!))

((Well... thank you, I guess. I didn't quite know where I was going with that... so thanks.)) Lily sat up weakly. A young man's face hovered over hers, his face deep with concern. She tried to back away, afraid it might be Saint Dane, but the pain was to great. "What do you want?" she managed in a pained whisper.

((No problem, I myself wasn't sure if you would be okay with it sweatdrop ... Good thing it turned out okay.))
Themba sat up a little straighter when she saw the young girl wake up.
“What do you want?” She whispered. She struggled to move away but couldn’t.
Themba put his hand on her shoulder and said, “Don’t move. You could be really hurt.”
The girl that Saint Dane had called Lily nodded and relaxed a little.
“My name is Themba.” He said softly, “I’ll take care of you. Just don’t move.”
Themba helped the girl up into a sitting position and leaned her against the wall.
“What happened?” he then asked, “How did you run into Saint Dane?”

"I was on Cloral," she said. "I was headed back to Third Earth, My acolyte, Jake... that is Saint Dane, told me things were'nt going well. You're... Ilandere's acolyte, right?" she asked. "She's coming to rescue you, and I think Jade and Christoper are coming to help."

Themba stood up and cursed.
“Yes, I am Ilandere’s acolyte… I told her not to come!” he growled, “If she comes he’ll kill us both for sure! I can’t let that happen… but there’s no way to stop her. And with you here I grantee you she’ll be here as soon as she can come. Nothing short of death would stop her.”
Themba began pacing back and forth from wall to wall. A small thought flipped a switch in his head and he looked back to Lily.
“Saint Dane didn’t only come for you, did he? Surely he would have tried to bargain with Ilandere to save me. She would have rejected him and—“ Themba’s eyes widened and he stopped pacing. “Unless he killed her he would have killed me when he came back. Lily, did Ilandere accept Saint Dane’s offer? Is Ilandere alright?”
Lily sat speechlessly in the corner looking up to Themba trying to process it all.
“Lily!” he shouted, “Is Ilandere still alive?!”

"She was when I left. Barely though. I..." she stopped, seeing Themb's concerened eyes grow wider. "I think Saint Dane attacked her. Izzy and Christopher were there, and saved her. She was doing better, they were going to head here in the morning, well, morning for Cloral at least. That could be weeks, months, or minutes."

Themba scrambled for the parchment in his pocket and pulled out a piece putting it on the small table in the corner. He took the stick he had used earlier and set it next to the parchment. He then took a handful of dust from a corner and placed it on the table, spitting on it. He took the muck and used it to scribble a few words out on the parchment.
This is Themba. Saint Dane has come back. He brought a traveler with him named Lily. She’s okay but hurt pretty badly. I already know you all are coming to Zadaa and since there is nothing I can do to stop you there’s no point in me arguing. Please, just be careful. This game has gotten extremely dangerous and is beginning to get worse.
Themba slipped off his ring and placed it on the floor. “I’m sending this to the acolyte on Cloral. Hopefully they can get it to the traveler in time.” He explained. He touched the ring and said clearly, “Cloral!” and it opened up wide and he dropped the note in. He heard footsteps coming toward the door and he stood up and slipped his ring back on his finger.
The door opened and in walked Saint Dane. “Shame on you Themba,” he chuckled wagging his finger at him, “Using your ring behind my back. I’ll see that the punishment is fit to the crime.”
Saint Dane closed his fingers around Themba’s neck and began dragging him out of the cell.

"No!" Lily screamed. She stood unsteadily and lunged towards the demon. "Let him go! IT's my fault! He did it for me!" Saint Dane let go of Themba and turned towards her.
"Is that so, my dear, sweet, Lily?" he asked. Lily nodded shakily.

“Don’t do this Lily!” Themba said hoarsely, trying to catch his breath, “You are more important than I! You are a traveler, I am but an acolyte. I can be replaced you cannot. She did not tell me to send the note, I did it on my own.”
Saint Dane raised an eyebrow, “Oh? You did? You wouldn’t have lied to me, would you Lily?” he said taking a step towards her, “Would you?”
Themba slowly bent down and reached into his boot pulling out his knife.
“Hey Saint Dane?” he called, “Ever hear the term ‘back stabber’?”
Themba threw the knife with incredible accuracy, hitting Saint Dane square in the shoulder. Saint Dane let out a cry of agony as he flailed his arms to reach the knife. Themba lunged at him, twisted the knife and pulled it out. Saint Dane wrestled him to the ground trying to take the knife away.
“You will die for this!” she hissed. Themba kicked him off and punched him in the face, scrambling to his feet.
“There’s this term that Ilandere learned from her father, JinRah. What was it? Oh yeah,” Themba smirked,
“Go to hell.”

Lily stood in the corner of the cell, watching as Themba and Saint Dane fought. Frantically she searched for anything she could use to help, but the cell was bare. All she could do now was pray that Themba would come out on top.

Saint Dane threw Themba to the ground. As the demon advanced towards the acolyte, Lily stepped between them. "S-stop! I-I'll do whatever you want, just.... just don't hurt Themba."

Themba was thrown to the ground and he hit his head, hard. He backed away dizzily and could hear Lily, though faintly, asking Saint Dane to leave him alone.
“No Lily, don’t!” Themba pleaded, “Stay out of this!”
“Yes Lily, listen to dear Themba. We wouldn’t want you getting hurt.” Saint Dane smirked, his eyes trained on Themba while he got to his feet. Saint Dane walked towards Themba pushing Lily out of his way forcibly. She stumbled back and watched in terror as Saint Dane circled Themba. Themba stayed still, refusing to play his game.
“What make’s you think you can beat me?” Saint Dane teased, “Do tell. It’s rather intriguing, you and your motives. You travelers are an interesting species. They have it in their mind like they can toy with me. Like they can beat me. Look what happened to your little girlfriend. Oh I’m sure she’s fine for now, but someone will be waiting for her at the flume when she arrives. Someone she trusts, someone she loves…you. Though it won’t really be you. It will be me in disguise, with a knife in my boot. ”
Themba froze. Saint Dane knew that they were coming to Zadaa, and when they got to the flume, he was going to kill Ilandere. Themba pushed Saint Dane into the wall and held him there with the knife against his throat. “If you touch her I’ll—"
“Do what? Kill me? Go ahead, do it now, cut my throat. You know you want to.” Saint Dane smiled. Themba continued to hold the knife at his throat but didn’t move. He could see it in his cold, heartless eyes that he could not be beaten. Even death wouldn’t stop him. Themba held the knife up and stepped away.
“That’s right Themba. No one can kill me. Not even you.” Saint Dane seethed, and with that he lashed out hitting Themba on the side of the head and knocking him out. Themba slid to the floor like a lifeless pile of rags. Saint Dane gave Lily a malicious smile and turned to leave.
“Ta-ta love. Until next time.”
Saint Dane slammed the door shut and peered in the small barred window as he slid the key into the lock. He turned it and it made a satisfactory click then his face disappeared from the window and he walked away.

"Oh god," Lily wispered. She kneeled down to themba, blood was rushing from a cut on his head. "Themba, what do we do?" She then saw Themba's ring.
"Maybe, just maybe I can warn them," she whispered. There was no parchment, so she tore off a peice of Themba's white tunic. She used the stick as she had seen Themba do it, but instead of using mud as he had, she used the first available thing, his blood.
It isn't Themba! Don't beleive him! Izzy, please, it's Saint Dane! She scribbled. Using Themba's ring as she had seen him do it, Lily sent the scrap of cloth to Cloral. As the musical lights faded, she sighed, and made a silent prayer that they would get it in time. Unable to do anything more, she ripped a strip off of his shirt and wrapped it around Themba's head with as much care as her shaking hands could manage.
