She hadn't believe it. She couldn't believe that she had actually found Dojima-san and Nanako-chan in that Police Station. Relief had washed over her weary self and she hadn't been able to stop the tears rolling down her cheeks and the laughter that had taken over her the moment the petite girl noticed her presence and hugged her warmly. She had missed them...and now she knew they were fine. That renewed energy had pushed her to go and put her part against the Lord of Flies...and it had been a terrifying battle...and they had won. Her body ached, her energies were drained...but the moment she had walked back inside and saw Genji resting...and Nanako sleeping soundly, she knew nothing else mattered.

And so a new day was starting...and there were still foes they needed to defeat. Hel... one of the Trickster God's Generals. Speaking of... there was something that still bothered her. She hadn't been hallucinating when she saw Fenrisulfr walking out of the station the day before, had she? It certainly looked real, but it was so strange and so crazy it was hard to believe. Dojima san had explained a little about the situation that morning, and she still couldn't grasp the idea entirely. Still...she would need to thank him for it. The next time she saw him.

Minori walked up to her berry haired companion, giving him a small, weary smile, before sitting down in one of the make-shift beds they had. She was tired...but she could keep going for now. They had to protect this place and the people in it.

"...You see the surface, but my eyes see more..."

Genji smiled faintly when the familiar golden hair of his lovely girlfriend returned back towards the cells, settling down onto the cot in her exhaustion...leading him to sit down beside her and take her hand in his, giving it a gentle squeeze and wrapping his other arm around her shoulder to hold her close against his side. This was all that he needed right now to keep moving forward...no matter what nightmares had haunted his sleep the night before, or what questions he might have had about what the Wolf of Ragnarok had been doing at the Station the night before. All that mattered was this place, the people here, and the girl he had close to his side right now. He kissed the crown of her head once before slowly standing from the bed and releasing her hand, smiling comfortingly down at her as he did.

"You look tired. Would you like to rest a bit this morning? I am certain that between Dojima-san and I, we can defend the Station in the meantime,' the berry-haired heir offered as he stretched his arms and legs slowly, aware from years of repetitive drilling that not doing so would be the easiest way to cripple himself with a pulled or torn muscle. He was ready to face the day, whatever may come, and protect Minori from as much of it as he could...though he knew that she, too, was powerful enough to defend herself. That didn't mean he wouldn't try though. Always, for her. He moved back into the cell a moment later and brushes a hand gently over her cheek. "Minori...I am happy that you found them. I do not know that I had the chance to tell you before, but now that I do...I promise I will do everything that I can to keep them safe. They are your family...and you are mine."

"Mmm..." the girl sighed contently as he wrapped his arm around her shoulder, holding her hand. For the moment she could let go of all the tension, closer her eyes for a second and enjoy the little moment. It was all she needed right now. Her head rested against his shoulder, cheek nuzzling against his white shirt, pressing her lips there with a little kiss. She felt relaxed, safe...and she could have drifted off if he hadn't shifted to stand up. The blond girl looked up at him with reproachful eyes, almost as if hoping he'd stay with her just for a while longer, but it was true they had things to do...and when he suggested her to rest, Minori shook her head, golden curls moving side to side. "No, I can't leave you to do all the hard work, Genji. We make a good team, so... it's better if we are together." She wouldn't admit she was afraid of losing him...and that being by his side was enough to bring her comfort.

With a final sigh, she stood up and stretched her arms, smiling faintly when he stepped closer and pressed a kiss to her head. "We can do this. Let's ask Dojima san if he needs anything. Perhaps we could check around the place...make sure there aren't any demons around..." And she was about to walk past him, when his next words made her stop, turning back to him. Her face softened then, and she couldn't help herself as she neared him, pressing a little kiss to his lips, pressing her forehead to his. "I couldn't have done it without you, Genji...Thank you for everything... and know that you are part of my family too... and I...hold you very close to my heart."

"As I do you," the young heir smiled faintly as his forehead rested against Minori's, wanting to be happy and brave and strong...strong enough to keep her safe and protect this moment and everything special that she had found to hold onto in this police station. He could do that, at the very least...be strong for her. Genji had returned her kiss and held her close a little while longer there, standing in each others' arms, before he at last allowed himself to pull away and nod down at her that it was time for the two of them to get to work for the day. This place here was worth protecting, and he hoped that the others would find their way out here, too. Certainly the rumor of it would spread the longer that it survived in the midst of all this insanity, and though that would likely coax in bigger threats to their survival, it would also allow other humans and survivors to hear about them and come to find sanctuary. Maybe Nix would be the next one to walk through the doors behind them? Maybe even Soji would make his way back here eventually...everyone knew that Nanako would be desperately missing him by now and vice-versa. Speaking of...

"Big Sis!" Nanako peeked from the door and then came into the room, stealing a hug from her 'older sister' before looking up at her with purposeful brown eyes that made Genji aware she certainly must have had a message for them...and he knew, all at once, what job she had been given to keep her occupied and prevent her from becoming too scared the last week or so, "Dad wants to talk with you and Genji-kun out front! He says it's important. ...You won't be going anywhere again, will you 'Big Sis'? You're going to stay with us now, aren't you?'

His heart could have burst at the hopefulness in the little girl's eyes and her smile, so he responded instead of Minori, answering the question for the both of them.

"Nanako-chan, your 'Big Sis' and I will be staying here from now on," he assured her with a brotherly smile, before stealing a glance at the emerald eyes of his girlfriend and squeezing her hand just for a moment, "We just need to see what your father wishes for us to do for now. If the two of us can contribute and keep you safe, then I promise, that is precisely what we will do. ...Is that not right, 'Big Sis'?"

He smiled at Minori, allowing her to handle the confirmation. Which was really a given, because honestly, could you say no to those big pleading Nanako eyes?

Genji knew the answer to that. And Minori did, too. Now they were well and truly stuck. And he wouldn't have it any other way.

She had smiled, her cheeks a rosy color. She was so thankful for him, and she had opened her mouth to say more when the sweet voice of her 'Lil Sis' brought her green gaze back to her and away from her cherry haired companion. "Hey, Nanako!" It was impossible not to brighten up when the little girl showed up, and Minori knelt beside her to wrap her arms around her. She heard her giggling, before the smaller girl pulled back, explaining what was needed of them. "All right, of course. We will be right there."

Then she asked if they were staying, and her expression softened. Genji squeezed her hand, and Minori could only smile, her cheeks pinkening slightly. "Of course, Nanako-chan! We promise we will always return here. But we also need to make sure everyone is safe, right? Genji and I will make sure of that. Now, let's go get your dad. I don't think he wants to be kept waiting." she gave the little girl a conspiratorial smile and a wink before turning emerald eyes back to Genji.

She found Ryotaro Dojima barking out orders to someone she didn't recognize and could only guess was part of the police force, before the older man turned to her, rubbing his neck tiredly. "Ah, Minori. I hate to ask this of you, but ..."

Food was becoming scarce. If they planned on surviving in there, they needed to find more, and with a nod, Minori had walked out of the station, not before giving Nanako a little kiss to the top of her head, and pinky promising that she would be back in no time.

The streets were mostly deserted, except for a small demon or two that they eliminated quickly. On its own, it was a little unnerving, finding so little opposition, but the girl wasn't about to complain. The quicker they got the food, the faster they could be back inside with the others. She hoped Nix was okay... last night she had wandered inside the Police Station, and the blond girl had been so relieved seeing her there. She asked about Soji, but the silverette's shake of her head was enough answer. She had lost him sometime the day before, but...Minori knew he was out there. During the fight with The Lord of Flies, she had seen glimpses of him, but hadn't been able to talk too much. Now...she needed to find him...let him know that his family was alive.

Raising her gaze, she noticed a figure she hadn't been expecting, and the girl froze in her place. The same cold aura surrounded him, and he kept an aloof look to him, even if his position close to the station made the gears inside the girl's brain to start churning. She stepped closer, but kept her distance just in case. "I... Thank you, for what you did these last few days for Nanako and Dojima. Perhaps I misjudged you before..." Minori said, holding her place when the Wolf of Ragnarok turned an icy glare in her direction.

"I was only returning a favor. It seems useless for people like them to get involved in this war."

Before the girl could ask more questions though, he was gone, leaving her to think of what he had said. A favor? It only made her wonder.

She watched him leave, and she couldn't help but wonder. But, this wasn't the time to wonder and waste the daylight when they had a mission to complete. And so, she shook her head and pushed forward. Where could they actually find food? The stores in Downtown? Aiya's perhaps? It was worth a try, at least.

Finding food was going to be difficult in a town as wrecked as Inaba was; most of the fields and rice patties that had made up the surrounding area were now barren sand, almost as though the rural beauty of the town and the countryside were completely washed away in a tide of dust. But they would find something, and they were finding enough things the more they searched through the ruins. Somehow, the area around the Station had become less populated by the threats of the devils, bandits, and the like. It lead the berry-haired heir to wonder even more so...what was the Wolf of Ragnarok's role in all of this? Was he really looking out for the station? For the humans living there? For Dojima-san and Nanako-chan in particular? It was a thought that he couldn't get out of his mind, even when they came across him in the town at large. He wanted to speak...to ask his questions...but his frosty glare made it near impossible for him to find the right words to ask him to get the truth of the matter from his lips. And so he swallowed them for now, instead allowing Minori to simply thank him...but when he dismissed them the way that he did, it made him wonder all over again...what could have happened to engender his loyalty?

"I cannot get over how strange it seems for him to be granting aid to the people back at the Police Station," he spoke in a low voice after Fenrisulfr was gone, considering again to himself whether or not the General of the Trickster's Armies was worthy of their trust, "If he is returning a favor, then what do you think they might have done to help him? I do not imagine they did anything untoward, not with Nanako there...which means they must have helped him in some gentle way...some way that touched a devil such as him. But what could it have been?"

He thought, but he had no answers just yet. Glancing at Minori, he wondered as well if she had any better clues than he. Dojima had told her a bit earlier, he knew...but the whole story still eluded him. And putting together the pieces might help them better understand what they were facing in him should the day come that they must fight.

He couldn't spend forever wondering over the question of the Wolf of Ragnarok, however, as the day went on and the people back at the Station continued to be in need of new supplies to keep them going. Nanako-chan and Dojima-san were counting on the two of them, so against his better judgment and the memories warning him away from the area, there was really only one place left that the berry-haired heir knew they needed to go in order to get everything they would need to resupply, repair, and keep their little sanctuary standing for a while longer. It was tough for him to suggest returning to that place after the incidents that he had seen there over the last two days, especially when he knew that doing so might put Minori at his side at risk. But there was no other choice but to go there, to trust in his skills and hers, and the fact that together...there was no threat that they couldn't manage to overcome. He glanced at her and decided that he might as well break the decision to her. She wouldn't resist, he was sure of that. He only wished that it was a risk he could take on his own.

"Junes," he spoke the word alone at first, as if to get the rotten taste of the memory of being chased out of there...the death of that loyal Pixie...the body...out of his mouth. But as soon as it was spoken it was easier to say it again, to say what needed to be said so that they could do what they needed to do. "It was still somewhat stocked the last time that I visited. Although...that was due to the demons inside. If we return there, we may find enough supplies to keep Dojima-san's shelter standing for a while. But we will need to fight for it. ...Together, I know that we can handle it."

"I am as confused as you are." the girl answered with a smile, rubbing the back of her neck after the encounter. Even if Fenrisulfr hadn't attacked, and looked like he had no intention to, there was still that threatening aura about him that she didn't want to prod. "Though, I still believe he has no ulterior motive...he genuinely is ... helping?" It sounded so weird...those words together just didn't compute. "I asked Dojima san about it, but he was really vague. Maybe I could ask Nanako chan when we return? She definitely charmed him with her cute innocent eyes, I say." Minori chuckled, but focused once again in the mission in hand, knowing they couldn't lose much time. The Station needed them back in case something big attacked. She couldn't leave them for too long.

Then Genji suggested Junes, and her eyes brightened up. Of course! ...It wouldn't be easy though. Minori nodded, and pushed forward. Together...they could do it. There was something bothering her berry haired companion though... as if he had seen something awful there. And because of that...she hesitated. "Are you sure, Genji? Perhaps...we could look at Aiya's instead? See...if we find something?" If Junes was an unpleasant memory...they could avoid it for now, right?

He couldn't help the small chuckle that escaped him as Minori talked about her Little Sis charming the 'Big Bad Wolf' with her big, innocent eyes...and while it was certainly funny to think about, he had to imagine that there was at least a kernel of truth to it. How else did they manage to win him over to help them, at least in some small way, if not by appealing to the better angels of his nature with the weapons-grade adorableness that was Nanako Dojima's smile? He wasn't sure...just as he wasn't entirely convinced that his aid to the Dojima family was 100% genuine, no matter how much the innocent part of him wanted to believe in it. It just...didn't add up, especially when you considered that by all accounts he was still fighting in the war and serving as one of the Generals of the Trickster God's Army against the Lord of Darkness and his forces. And when you factored in that today's General that descended, the great bounty that the Red Viper had placed today, was his sister Hel...didn't that mean that one day soon the bounty might well be placed on Fenrisulfr? Wouldn't that make them direct enemies, regardless of any of his associations prior?

He didn't want to imagine Nanako's face if she heard that one of the two of them had been forced to take down 'Mr. Fenri' for whatever reason; he didn't want to see her sad eyes if she knew that the man who had saved her and her father was actually one of the people responsible for the war that meant she could no longer return to her home. It ate him up inside to imagine where this would lead them...even if he was aiding them, it couldn't end well. The Red Viper's hatred of the servants of Loki was not at all hidden, and he was among them, the Wolf of Ragnarok. Both were now helping humanity, but their differences...could not be resolved, could they? He wondered...but as he did, he knew that he would get nowhere that way. Junes was where they needed to go, and even though Minori offered to spare him revisiting the memory, he knew that it was the right choice for where they needed to go. And besides, it wasn't as if he hadn't seen far worse things in the last two days...

"Thank you, Minori...but I believe Junes is the only choice. We need more than just groceries for all of the people at the Station," he reasoned, nodding his head so that she would know they were good to go, "Junes was one of the first places I went after awakening, is all. It was...tough to see. But for everyone else...we must do it. For everyone."

"Show me a hero, and I will write you a tragedy"

He didn't know exactly how or why he had arrived in Inaba not at the same location from which he had left it, but instead, he found himself standing in front of the run-down home that had once been that of his family here in Inaba, encroached upon now almost entirely by the desert wasteland that was slowly enveloping every city across the country. He had seen traces of it in Okina on the 2nd Day, but he hadn't gotten out on the 3rd to really assess the situation. But on the 4th now, here in Inaba, it was plain that the cities were crumbling...reduced to rubble and whatever power held them all together at the core of whatever they were. Sand and nothingness stretched out beyond the city's borders, and sand had completely washed over much of their home's yard now...leaving what had once been fertile, green lands for farming and Nanako's projects with flowers as little more than another pit of sand. He let out a small sigh as he moved towards the door, sliding it open for just a moment to poke his head in and call out for any of his family...but as expected, no one answered. Where exactly could they have been? Where could they have gone? He had been distracted the last couple of days from the fate of his family and friends, but...

...No, maybe he had allowed himself to be distracted so he wouldn't have to think about it. But there was on avoiding it now, not with the likes of Hel dead, the other Children of Loki on the loose, and Belberith and some crazy cultists wandering the country now trying to pull in recruits or kill those who oppose them or whatever nonsense Obelyn had said they were up to. He had to find them, if they were in this town, and he needed to do it soon.

Turning away from his home, he moved slowly towards the Downtown District again...not looking forward to the same gloomy march he had experienced on the first day...but willing to do whatever it took in order to find those that had been left behind.

...

But it was a few steps away from his home when the voice in the doorway behind him alerted him to the presence of another. It was a voice he hadn't expected...a voice that surprised him, but that did not shake his composure. It was cool and regal, and aloof in a way that he couldn't forget.

"If you are looking for your uncle and cousin, you will no longer find them here," he spoke simply, not bothering to look at the silverette as he emerged from the home with something in his hand...it almost looked like...clothes? A toy? But smaller, the size of a small girl? What could that have been about? "They have moved on to some place safer. To avoid this war, as best they can. You would be wise to do the same." He spoke, and then he turned from the doorway of the house and started down the road away from him...but before he got too far, Soji turned and interrupted him, wanting to know what had brought him here.

"Wait! What are you doing here...? And why are you telling me this?" the teen asked, eyebrow raised, his voice stern and curious but at the same time, demanding the answers that he needed to get the full picture, "If you're working for Loki, then you should be the enemy of mankind. Anybody can see that no matter how hard he tries to cover that up now. ...Doesn't that include you? You could have killed me before and chose not to...there has to be more to you than what's on the surface."

"I am under no obligation to answer your questions," the Child of Loki answered coldly, taking a few steps before pausing, one last time, and adding, "Make no mistake...the day will come when you and I must fight, and only one of us shall walk away with his life. But...until that day, I see no reason that I should waste your life, or the lives of those around you. That is all. However, if you wish to continue wasting my time..." He tossed a look over his shoulder that promised pain...

...And in the brief moment that Soji hesitated where he stood, wondering what all of that meant...the Wolf of Ragnarok had gone.

Yesterday's visit to Junes had been a coup; the demons that had inhabited the Tower were mostly driven out, and the small tufts of white fur which lined the staircase had given the pinkette some idea as to who might have visited the Department Store and laid waste to the devils that had been holed up inside, responsible for the horrors that the Berry-Haired Heir had seen on his first day in this new reality. Whoever had done it, though, there had been entire shopping carts full of food to take back to the Station, which Dojima-san had spent much of the night that he should have been sleeping rationing out for the next few days. The other supplies had been quite useful as well for repairing things, clothes for those who had mostly done without, although Nanako had been unable to find anything in her size while she had been rifling through the loot. That didn't matter, because Genji was thinking of paying a visit to the Dojima-house today, and if they were lucky, it would still be standing enough that he could find some of Nanako's clothes for her. But on top of that, there was one other thing that the young master of the Gentle Fist knew he needed to do...the first thought which crossed his mind once he woke up cuddled together with Minori in their little cot inside the cell (after some fluffier thoughts about the girl gently curled against his side, of course).

They had reunited Minori with her family the other day, but the truth was that there was still one member of her family out there, one that they needed to bring home before everything could be completely whole for the Dojimas, again. Their silver-haired leader was still out there, surviving and fighting on his own ever since they had split up and fled in different directions on the very first day. They couldn't leave him out there alone anymore, he knew...they needed to check all through the town to find him, to go to Okina City if they needed to...just in case he had gone over there for the Belzaboul fight as Minori had mentioned she thought he had been.

Wherever he was...they were going to find him. First thing, today.

...Just as soon as Minori stirred from her gentle sleep enough for him to steal back his arm and stand.

Suffice to say, he didn't mind waiting just a little bit longer for that...
