xxxxxx「 Freshling Years - The current Story 」 🐠It's very rare for Naiad's to fall in love with others outside of their own race. It's even very looked down on in some family circles. That didn't stop Misty and Cascade's mothers from falling in love. Their Naiad parent was finishing up school as an exchange student in Below when she met, dated, and eventually married their Bakeneko mother. Their two mothers have always been a happy couple and were quick to imbue and awaken a single soulstone. To their surprise however, that one impulse child turned into two. With only one of them working at the time and the other staying home to watch after the twins it was hard at first for the budding family. When the twins got to be a little older, around 4-5 years old their Naiad parent thought it would be a great idea to send the twins up to Above to stay with their Grandparents for a while and meet their cousins, Aunts, and Uncles for the first time.
Before the trip, Misty and Cascade were both rather quiet and kind kids. They'd seen nothing but love and affection from their two parents and neither of them had any sort of clue that their parents' relationship could be seen as very odd or even disturbing to their Naiad relatives. The first day and night went smoothly, but of course their parents were still around then. Once their parents left though, things began to change. Their cousins were flat out mean to them during their stay. Aunts and Uncles would ignore them and the twins could hear whispers about their strangeness behind their backs. They didn't receive as much attention from their grandparents as their cousins did. Things only got worse the longer they were there. Misty had always been proud of her ability to swim and had never thought that being half Bakeneko had ever slowed her down in the water. Her cousins had other opinions though, opinions they were more than happy to share. Misty tried to tolerate it at first, but the longer the teasing went on the angrier she became. Finally she challenged one of her cousins to a race.
When the day came to race Misty was as prepared as she thought she could be. She wouldn't let the crowd of her fellow cousins, the stares or glares, slow her down. Cascade was there to support her of course, the only person who had been on her side the entire time she'd been there. She couldn't wait to prove all of her cousins wrong. There wasn't anything wrong with her because she had a Bakeneko mother. In fact, she was better because of it! The race began and at first the two of them seemed tied in speed. Misty wasn't giving away how fast she could go at first, but when she could tell that her cousin was starting to run out of stamina just the slightest, she kicked even faster. It all happened so fast, Misty's not even sure how or what happened to this day. Though Cascade likely had a good view of what went on from the side lines. There was a sharp pain in her leg and she cried out and stopped where she was in the water. She could hear cheering all around as her cousin raced to the finish line. None of them showed any concern for her, in fact she was fairly certain they were the cause of it all. Cascade was in a rage and it took all she had not to cry on the spot. They had snatched her victory from her. They had taken away any trust she might have placed in her Naiad family. When their mothers heard of what happened, although the twins tried to hide it, they were both in a rage. A scene was made and their mothers were told to take their children and leave. They were not to come back.
The family returned to Below and their Naiad mother was heart broken over what had happened. Through it all they only became a closer family. Eventually things settled down at home as both of their parents found jobs and the twins were enrolled at Asphodel Gardens Academy. Who knows where things will go from here?
