Esme had yet to shop anywhere but in the grocery store on his first day in Soleil City; he had been counting his dollars and staying rather frugal. But as he passed through the Cerise shopping district, he really regretted not making the trip sooner. Even if he had not bought anything, he had enjoyed walking past all of the different storefronts. There was an arcade; he had not played in an arcade since he was a little boy. And a potion shop… If he dared to take the shop title at its word, then he would be much too timid to walk into there, but he was very curious! Still, he thought Bookworm’s or Pandora’s Toy Box were decidedly more his speed. He would have to come by again sometime… Particularly to the toy store. He wanted to actually go inside and have a look at the stuffed animals. But he knew if he did that right at this moment, he would leave with several full bags and an empty wallet to show for it. After walking around until his feet were tired, Esme decided to stop in at Moonbucks Café. He had already had coffee that morning, but he didn’t think an iced tea would hurt anything. Esme stepped inside and went up to the counter, digging in his pocket for loose change.

Sage was up early for some conferences over his webcam, that is, after having to treck to his boss's house and get that horny woman chaser out of bed. They had to discuss opening another chain near by, or in the very least explore Sage's idea to scout for models. His boss wasn't a bad guy, in the sense he couldn't get himself up and take care of his business, but once he got his hands on a woman he could be hard to locate for quite a while. The mushi would have to see him again later today, but for now he was getting his day started outside of the house. He thought, perhaps, an easy breakfast at the nice cafe a little ways from his home would be satisfactory. Although the air held some chill today, he could still sit out and people watch from the store front. If he were lucky he might find some inspiration- of the decent, fashion oriented kind and not of the BDSM nature. Though, that too, who knows. Laying his hood away from his shoulders, the pale skinned male let himself into Moonbucks and strolled his way to the front counter. He a slice of cake and a cappuccino, very much expecting them to be delivered to his table once he ordered. He just had to wait in this- he was second in line to quite a peculiar boy. "What a marvelous hair color." He commented absently, gold irises drifting to the other male's crown of tresses. "Is it natrual, or is it dyed?" He asked, moving around and stepping up beside the stranger. He cocked his head inquisitively, remembering to give the smallest of smiles so the man knew he was talking to him and not the sales associate ahead of them. Esme finally managed to count out enough money for his drink and placed his order. With it just being an iced tea, it did not take long for him to receive it; only just long enough that there was now a second person in line. The man behind him spoke and Emse turned to see a smile directed at him. He ducked his head sheepishly and touched his fingertips to the light blue strands in question. ”It’s dyed… I don’t think my hair has been any one color for more than three months since I was sixteen.” Esme admitted almost apologetically. He only wished that his natural color was so fantastic! He stepped out of the way so that the other man could reach the counter and glanced up at his rather striking hair. ”I think your hair color is pretty remarkable in its own right. Is it natural? If… if you don’t mind my asking.” Esme felt a little shy about asking, but reasoned that it should be alright if the man asked him, first. He wouldn’t think of just asking out of the blue. Idly Esme wondered how he would look with such brilliant, silver strands. He had tried lots of different colors before, but the pale locks crowning the stranger’s head were several shades lighter than the lightest he had yet dared. But the eyes were even more striking and Esme soon realized that he was staring. He immediately dropped his eyes to the floor, his cheeks turning bright pink.

Sage found himself laughing gently, nodding his head as if to suggest his question had been too much of a silly one to bother the boy with in the first place. "I see! Well it suits you regardless." He made mention, nodding in thanks as the front of the line was made available. Stepping forward, he voiced his order while offering the cashier ten dollars. He was waiting on his change when he made a soft turn on his heel, once more locking his gaze on the petite tealette. "Yes, this is my real hair. Although, it's theorized I may have a strain of albinism." He informatively retorted. Reaching his hand for his change without budging his focus from the object of his stare, his smile widened in the slightest to see the male avert his eyes. If the ceo couldn't say he was used to it, then he was ill suited for this odd appearance he was born into. "Would it be terrible of me to want to sit with you? Unfortunately, I have very little companions in this city and you seem like you would be lovely company." The mushi continued, subtly pushing to extend their meeting. He often suffered from anxiety when by himself, and just as well found interest in this boy while he happened to find himself with this oppruntunity. Tucking his hair behind one ear, the professional offered his hand to be shaken. "I'm Sage, by the way. This exchange has been pleasant, although much too brief."Today's Business Attire Came from home, is @ Moonbucks Cafe 1000 $ [spending history: 6.25 @Moonbucks] People around me: Esme OOC:

Esme couldn’t help smiling when the man said that his hair color suited him. He certainly thought so, but it was always better hearing it from someone else. ”Thank you; I really like this color. I plan on keeping it for a while.” It was one of his favorites, to be honest. But maybe when he was ready to change it, he might try a bright, shocking white. He would definitely stand out with hair like that! But then again, since when did he want to stand out? Though it wasn’t all bad since sometimes he drew the attention of nice people like this person so far seemed to be. Esme nodded as the man mentioned possible albinism, that would definitely explain the completely colorless yet natural locks. Esme was already daunted by the upkeep that would be involved if he tried to keep a hair color like that! He wondered though… had the man ever considered dying? His hair must take color much more easily than Esme’s. And those golden eyes he caught himself staring at would look great with just about any hair color.
Esme’s head popped back up with wide eyed surprise when the man asked to sit with him. Esme almost denied that he was really very good company at all, but he stopped himself when he realized just how stupid it was to say something like that. He wanted to meet more people, didn’t he? This person was making it easy; he should just accept instead of giving people reason to walk away. ”I don’t think that would be terrible at all… I mean, I would like that very much. My name is Esme; it’s nice to meet you.” Esme smiled and shook hands with the man he now knew as Sage. It was an interesting name for a pretty interesting guy. Even his clothing seemed unusual, but the grey hood and dark garments certainly looked good on him and Esme felt plain in a white, button down shirt, grey sweatervest and navy slacks. It made Esme feel a little out of place… but it was like Casey had said; situations that made him feel nervous were going to happen and facing them was good for him.
”Let’s sit over there. If it’s alright with you.” Esme pointed to a small table by a window. He did like to people watch and that seemed like a great spot to watch other shoppers strolling along the sidewalk. He smiled up at Sage to wait for a response before he would head that way.

Sage was momentarily given a distraction, witnessing a discretion of the worst kind: his food being given to him at the counter. The mushi had to consciously make an effort not to allow a displeased sneer on his face, taking a slow, calming breath before smiling and inspecting the two food items under his gaze. "Why thank you." He hummed, though he found he couldn't quite let it go, despite taking measures against it. "If it's not too much trouble, could you-...?" One hand delicately motioned out towards the seating which Esme just picked, a sharp look in his eyes despite his airy tone. "I'm afraid I would spill." Seeing first that he was complied with, the mushi gave a brisk tug to the end of his sleeves before returning his smile to his companion. "Esme? How striking of a name. Does it have meaning?" He asked, folding his arm squarely behind his back as he followed along to a table. He pulled out the gentleman's chair first, then his own, and sat down after flicking the tail of his coat away from his person. His expression was more generous once his food was sat before him, a quiet 'thank you' mouthed through his lips before the server disappeared. The silver haired mushi just felt like...well, this certainly wasn't a fast food café, it was only appropriate to serve a customer once they were seated. And dammit, he was going to get frustrated if it wasn't done exactly that way. But no matter, all was corrected now. For a few moments, he turned his sights outside the window to the people and their clothing being rustled in the breeze. "Despite the chill, it is a beautiful day out." He observed, though mostly to himself. He could see a world no one else could, a whole existence of creatures overlapping with all living things. The only other person who could really share this view was...Where could his twin be found now, he wondered. The mushi rested his hands in his lap, first crossing one leg over the other so as to avoid lazily slumping against the table. Soon enough, his bright irises were on Esme once more. Sage made an extra effort to keep his expression pleasant and Esme was just naïve enough to take the man at face value; he did not realize how very displeased his companion was at being expected to carry his order to his table. Despite his fascination with Sage’s golden eyes, he was trying not to stare and did not notice when they took on a much sharper look. He only answered Sage’s smile with one of his own and led the way to the table he had pointed out. ”Yes, it does. My mother told me that it derives from the Old French for loved. Which is kind of nice… It’s like a little reminder that my parents care about me. Oh…!” Esme found himself caught off guard when his chair was pulled out for him. He wasn’t at all used to having a chair pulled out for him and it made him blush a little, though he couldn’t have really said why he felt embarrassed. ”Um… thank you.” he managed softly before seating himself. Soon the employee came with Sage’s order which was graciously received.
Esme looked through the window as he took a sip of his drink. He did not see very many people out and about in the crisp, January weather, but he enjoyed watching the few he saw all the same. He had to agree that it was a nice day, despite the gray skies. ”The weather forecast mentioned that we might have a storm soon, but it’s always so calm before one actually hits.” Esme marveled as he continued to look through the window. But he turned his attention back to Sage when asked about how long he had lived in Soleil. ”Hmn… Just under three weeks now. It’s a very beautiful place. I had not really expected that I would stay for very long, but I think that it is doing me quite a bit of good, being here. Maybe I will stay for longer than I had planned. What about you, Sage? How long have you lived in Soleil?”

"That is very sweet of your parents." Sage remarked, picking up on their exchange where Esme trailed off in surprise. He hoped the startled exclamation wasn't one of being offended, in case he was the type of male who found it emasculating to have his chair pulled out for him. Seeing as he was tentatively thanked with no other signs of approval or disapproval, the mushi simply resumed what he was doing and sat down himself. With his cake in front of him, which he'd say and eye'd for quite a long stretch of minutes, Sage picked up his fork. He inspected it for watermarks and all, before using it to break off an edible sized bite of the frosted lemon cake. By this time Esme was adding to him comment about the weather, to which he nodded while feeding himself his first bite. He was quiet until he chewed, swallowed, and wiped his mouth, following it up with a sip of his drink. "I wonder why it's calm before a storm? Perhaps a lesson in accepting the less than pleasant elements in life, or a show of how naive one is to pretend a storm isn't coming." Again, this comment was made for himself to hear, but was still openly comtributed to the discussion. Sage could be cynical without even trying, though he liked to look at his morose outlook as more of philosophical sobriety as opposed to negativity. Moving on without the slightest hiccup, the CEO folded both hands over his knees and tried to remember how long he'd been here for. "A little over two weeks, but not three like yourself." He informed to the best of his knowledge. "From the way you speak, it sounds like you were originally only a temporary resident here. Am I assuming correctly? If I'm not being too invasive."Today's Business Attire Came from home, is @ Moonbucks Cafe 1000 $ [spending history: 6.25 @Moonbucks] People around me: Esme OOC:

If Esme could have admitted the truth without turning as red as a tomato, he would have said that he actually liked the gesture of having his chair pulled out for him. But he was far from used to it, having grown up among others who would have thought it emasculating. Perhaps he should have seen it that way as well, but Esme had not thought that deeply about the action; he only thought it a nice, but unexpected gesture. He could not help the little exclamation of surprise, but there was nothing approaching dismay n his voice or his behavior as he thanked Sage and accepted the seat. All in all, he could chalk it up to the fact that Sage’s behavior seemed a little unusual to him all around. He noted the way that those golden eyes examined the cake at length and then the fork as well before he was willing to break off the first bite. Esme didn’t mean to watch his companion too closely, but he couldn’t help that the man was so interesting to him.
”Why it’s calm before a storm… I’ve never even thought about that.” Esme had always experienced a sort of cautious enjoyment of the calm before a storm. Everything was almost eerily still, but sometimes he would still step outside for just a few moments, standing quietly so as to not disturb the quiet of nature. ”I suppose if it is a lesson, then I really should pay better attention. I’ve always enjoyed it, a little. Sometimes I even enjoy watching a storm, as long as I can watch it through a window.” Esme replied softly. Sage seemed to say what he did mostly for his own benefit, but also did not seem to mind that Esme replied to his words, so he would continue to do so.
”I originally came here just to distress for a while. My father thinks that I overwork myself… I thought I would stay for a little while just to satisfy him, then return home and to life as usual. But… despite a couple of bad experiences here, I really do like it here. I feel like a different person here. I’ve met friends that I don’t want to lose and I’ve seen things I couldn’t have imagined back home. And I still haven’t seen the whole city. I just… I do not feel in nearly so much of a rush to return home, now.”

Sage sipped again from his drink, being careful not to spill steamed milk foam and cinnamon on his clothes- or even risk having them form a mustache between his nose and his lips. He extended a petite nod as Esme himself lingered on the question he'd asked. As much of a thought as one may spare for it, the subject wasn't worth anything more than a thoughtful comment and perhaps a chuckle. It certainly wasn't going to change anyone's life to discuss the preverbal representations of storms and such. But, when Esme said he should pay better attention, the mushi smiled. "Perhaps the better experience involves being out from behind the window, and inside the storm instead." He suggested. Sage was rarely one to do it himself, but dancing in the rain could be fun without having to be deep about it. Covering his mouth, he laughed at the image it casted in his mind. Fun indeed! The man quieted to listen to his companion continue his speech, formulating several questions from the short explanation. Distress from overwork? Having bad experiences? And what things could he have possibly seen? But that was asking too much, thus the ethereal male decided not to pry. "Based on your answer, I feel like I may have a life changing experience here too." He theorized curiously. "I didn't believe this city had anything to offer me. I may still doubt it until I see it with my own eyes." He hummed, fingers drumming his knees thoughtfully. "Wel, for however long you stay, I hope it's pleasant for you, monsieur. " He also hoped they'd meet again, though he wouldn't express that outside of his own thoughts. He did pause, however, to ask something that fringed the edges of his thoughts. The man mentioned his father sending him here, "How old are you, by chance?"Today's Business Attire Came from home, is @ Moonbucks Cafe 1000 $ [spending history: 6.25 @Moonbucks] People around me: Esme OOC: Sorry for the wait. Esme smiled and tilted his head a little as he considered Sage’s response. He had never really been one to run out into the rain, though. Everyone got caught in the rain sometimes, but he was always quick to head inside. It didn’t matter, though; he did not think that Sage was being completely serious with the suggestion. At the very least, he did not think that the man was necessarily expecting for him to give the idea very serious consideration. So he said only, ”Maybe you’re right.” Even if it wasn’t a serious thought, it did settle into the back of his mind to spring forward again later, perhaps when it did start to rain. Not because he thought he would learn the answer to some deep, lingering question, but because he had thought briefly that, since he did enjoy watching storms, he may well enjoy standing out in the rain very once in a while.
”Who knows? Maybe it is this place. Or maybe it’s just getting away to a new place. I can honestly say that I wasn’t expecting to have any life changing experiences here, either. I thought, at best, that I might have a refreshing little vacation and go back home.” Esme perked up in interest when Sage refered to him as monsieur. ”Parlez-vous français?” Esme asked instinctively. He was not the most fluent person, but he knew a few French speaking people. So he had practiced a little and truly enjoyed the sound of the language. Sage had a question for him as well; an easy one to answer.
”I’m twenty two years old. I probably don’t look it…” Esme chuckled a little and shrugged his shoulders. He was a little embarrassed about it, but it wasn’t like he could do anything to grow taller. He did stop himself from mentioning his height, though, having noticed that he and Sage were actually very similar in height. They were similar in build as well, he noticed. He would not want to offend his companion by making an offhanded comment about his own body. ”How… how old are you?”

Sage lost interest in his cake about half way through the slice, half wondering if he’d finish it later should he have it packed to go. He decided not, inching the plate away from himself with the end of his finger. He nodded in accordance with what Esme was saying, continuing to listen as closely as ever as he studied his face. ”A change in scenery can really do that to a person.” He traveled often, so that could be the cause for his boredom in such a quiet town. Hearing French from someone whom he’d perceived to be American this whole time (although he himself was half american), Sage’s eye actually lit with surprise. No offense, but he was used to Americans being...undereducated, and wasn’t expecting this. A small smile broke out on his lips as he leaned forward, settling his elbows on the table and resting his chin on his knitted fingers. ”Oui. Je suis de rencontrer quelqu’un qui peut parler francais.” He’d really only slipped that little vocab in there absently, more than likely because he was a ostentatious a*****e. No matter, he was pleasantly entertained by this discovery. Hearing his age, Sage was surprised again, and not because Esme looked nothing his age. ”No, you do not look it at all. Most models would envy you for such a trait.” He chuckled, winking at the young blue haired boy before Esme turned the question back on him. The mushi slowly leaned off the table, resuming his old position and covering his mouth with the back of his fingers to keep his growing smile a secret. After a moment he dropped his hand again and admitted the tragic truth of the situation. ”You’re two years older than me.” He laughed. It was actually cute to the CEO that he was the younger one here. He expected to be older, though he supposed they both looked younger than their actual age. You could never judge a book by it’s cover, as it was said. Technically, Sage wasn’t going to count his actual age, only the number of years he’d been in this body; saved a lot of time explaining complicated things about his origin.

Esme nodded at Sage’s words and thought that maybe it would not be a bad idea for him to take in a change of scenery more often in the future. Of course, as soon as he had the thought, he was reminded of all of the costs and deferred responsibilities that were a result of this trip. Could he really justify doing that very often? He knew that his father would have said yes, but what about his students? What about his mother and her shop? What about the bills that it sometimes seemed they only barely managed to keep up with? What about his siblings? Well, in fairness, they were all old enough to pitch in themselves. The bills would be much easier then. And he shouldn’t be the only one doing shifts in the shop anyway. And it wasn’t like he was the only music teacher around; his students had other options, as did he. It was almost a little troubling to think like that and Esme was happy to be distracted from it. ”Le français est une belle langue. Et il aide en parlant de certains de mes voisins, bien que le français canadien est encore parfois difficile!” Esme admitted with a chuckle at his own expense. His school learned French differed quite a bit from what he heard spoken in his neighborhood, but it was enough to facilitate communication.
Hearing that most models would envy his youthful appearance made Esme blush, but he also laughed a little. ”Maybe, but I am always the shortest one at any shoot I go to. And the clumsiest; I managed to trip over a lamp cord twice at two different shoots! That shouldn’t even be possible.” Esme lamented, covering his face sheepishly with his palm. At least the photos had turned out great; he was pretty photogenic for such a klutz. Seeing photos of himself always made Esme feel like he was looking at a completely different person; he never felt as graceful or beautiful as the camera would have others believe. Esme silently praised the magic of camera angles and photoshop.
When Sage gave his age, Esme’s jaw dropped and his eyes widened incredulously. He knew that he looked younger than he was, but he had still thought that Sage was older than he was! ”Wow… You just… I mean, you don’t really look any older than that, but you seem so cool and mature. I never would have guessed that you are younger than I am. Oh… sorry; it must seem really rude for me to say it like that.” Esme really didn’t mean to be rude or insulting, but he really was very surprised. Of course he realized with some faint embarrassment that it didn’t say much for his maturity that he seemed younger in more than just appearance.

The further they moved down the Pasadena district and over towards Cerise, the very crevice of the sun was obvious to her at this point. They needed to hurry a bit more. Then again... She eyed the wolf thoughtfully along their walk, shoving her hands into the pockets of her black jeans. There would always be a new sunrise to glance over the next day; it was only a time frame that held meaning for him to get to the shores so she could show him something beautiful. And with how early he rose, she didn't doubt he'd ever seen a sunrise while tending to Amour. There was a long cool exhale as she processed over the question. What was it like to be her? She gazed back out into the slightly lighting sky, the stars twinkling like rhinestones against a navy blue surface. She hadn't thought over the question very often when it came to those around her. But to stop for a moment and see life through her eyes, well, she believed it to be vaguely different from someone else. To her, she sought to find the bright side and the beauty in every living and inanimate thing that came across her vision; the quirks and perfections. "Well it's..." She began, stepping through the threshold of the shopping district and watching through the dimly illuminated windows. Some were setting up shop while others looked to be already preened for the day. "It's like making music." She laughed a little to herself, moving her hands to clasp behind her back.
Already she could smell the sugary filled coffee and treats coming through the occasionally opening door as people sauntered in and out with their 'breakfast'. "I think it is, anyway." She swept her arm to catch the falling door just as someone exited, pushing it open enough for herself and for Tyrese to catch it behind her. "Water is... Something else. It's life and death. Y'know?" She turned her head to glance back at him, her curls bounding across her beige cardigan. No, he wouldn't know. Not in her shoes anyway. There was a faint pause as she turned back to glance over the menu hanging above the baristas. She didn't want to sit and eat, but she did want something to carry with her on her way to the next shop. She had heard mystical things about it - and with one thing remaining in her mind, there was something specific she wanted to try with him. "It's something you know so well but you're still afraid of. And no matter where you turn, it's still surrounding you." She stepped forward and nodded to the woman behind the counter with a warm smile. "Can I have a..." She tapped her finger over the counter thoughtfully, careful not to run the small lump forming around her waist too far into the fake wood. "Oh! A large... Hot chocolate and a chocolate chip muffin, please." If there was one thing she was going for this morning, it was to clean out a sweet tooth. Maybe later she'd come back for a banana nut muffin...
She turned her head back to look back into his navy orbs, pearly whites flashing for a split second. "Do you want anything?" She nudged her shoulder his way playfully, rolling it beneath the fabric.
