He did not like the dark, but the dark certainly seemed to like him. Mengyao made a soft noise of irritation that became a derisive, slightly mad sounding snort, wavering on his feet as he wandered through the area on somewhat unsteady feet.

He wandered more, feeling vaguely ill at ease.

He kept wandering. Kept on ignoring his own voice as it continued to mock him, louder and louder, never stopping.

He saw light in the distance. "Oh secretariats hooves be blessed." He sighed, leaning his head back for just a moment before shifting himself into a stance ready for faster movement.

Wrath then sprinted to the end of the tunnel and out the door.

He kept going, no particular destination in mind.

A voice drifted into his thoughts; someone's voice, a familiar voice that taunted him, teased him, drew out his insecurities and played on them. Mengyao twisted, trying to determine the source, but it was of little use.

He moved onward.

"I'm going to keep following the wall, okay? Just keep following after me. Whatever you hear, ignore it. Yell back at it if you have to. Use some of that anger and tell it to piss the ******** off. If I get to the end before you do, I'll wait and if I don't see you I'll come back for you, ok?" His brow lofted although he knew the other wouldn't see him in the darkness.

He waited a moment for reassurance before giving Inoke's hand a pat, turning to head into the darkness again. As he moved forward the nagging voice in his mind continued until it turned into something else again. This time it was a low, dangerous growl; not someone, but some thing.

"Oh, ******** no." He shook his head. He wasn't about to let the creature from his childhood sneak up on him again. At least this time he had a weapon. He'd be able to fight it no matter how frightened he was.
