"You want to come visit an old run down warehouse, full of delinquents?" C.T. asked raising a brow at her little sister, of course she didn't mean that in a bad way, her friends weren't exactly on the correct side of most of the laws in place, but they weren't too bad. They just did things a special way.

"Yes, it sounds cool, a group of hideaways fighting against those who oppressed them. Sounds epic." Kia said excitedly. C.T. rolled her eyes, she didn't know what to think about that, nothing that had really happened in the factory would be something that she'd describe as epic. Except for some nights she'd had with Esther, but she couldn't exactly share those. "I dunno, ask mom, just keep out the part with the delinquents. I'm sure my friends would love to meet you. I think you'll fit right in." C.T. said with a shrug.

"Is that a good thing?"

"Hm?"

"Is me fitting in there a good thing?"

"Yea sure." C.T. said, suddenly finding herself really busy with her pizza. "Connie..."

"You know I was expected a lot more, pizza isn't anything to spectacular." C.T. said aloud, giving an answer to Esther's earlier musings.

Esther watched C.T. with a grin that was quite clearly trying to be restrained, swallowing the laugh that threatened to erupt from her throat. She looked at the pizza and nodded stiffly. "No, I guess not," she said with a shrug, playing along. "It's more of a comfort food type of thing."

"Esther, your girlfriend is being mean," Kia whined. "Aren't you supposed to keep her under control?"

Okay, now Esther couldn't suppress the laughter any longer. "Yeah..." she said, wiping the tears of amusement from her eyes and shaking her head. "No, I definitely can't do anything about that. Also, I'm her girlfriend, not her babysitter." Babysitters weren't supposed to do the things to their wards that Esther had done to C.T. and had every intention of doing again the next time they were alone together... and not under C.T.'s family's roof, of course.

"You called her 'Mom,'" Elric mused, smiling.

Kat looked at her brother, left brow quirked. "What? Of course she did. What else would she call her?"

Elric shrugged. "I guess I thought it would just take longer or something. I mean, we grew up calling her Mom--but we grew up with her. It's just neat, is all."

Kat rolled her eyes and rolled up her pizza, clearly about the shove the entire thing in her mouth. "What a sap."

"Comfort food?" C.T asked raising a brow, she didn't exactly get that bit of phrasing, it didn't sound like something that should be associated with food. Food. And comfort....weird. "People looked toward food for comfort?" C.T. asked raising a brow. She was new to the feeling of comfort admittedly but she knew that most times for her it came from other people. Namely Esther.

"Esther, your girlfriend is being mean," Kia whined. "Aren't you supposed to keep her under control?"

C.T. made a face at her little sister, under control? Yea right, C.T. snorted, she loved her girlfriend, but Esther didn't have That much control over her. Or at lease she hoped not, she didn't want to look like a lost puppy around Esther that would be embarrassing. "No, I definitely can't do anything about that. Also, I'm her girlfriend, not her babysitter." C.T. snorted again this time amused. "You should tell that to Mag the next time she asks you to watch after me." C.T. joked, not really meaning anything by it.

"You called her 'Mom,'" Elric spoke up and C.T. looked to him confused, hoping for him to elaborate a bit on his point, but Kat spoke up and the two bantered a bit, light hearted banter of course. But the gist of it was that Elric had though it would take more time for C.T. to start calling Katja "mom" "Well she is my mother." C.T. said softly, blushing a bit. Kat seemed to share her stance as she called her brother a sap and proceeded to stuff her face. C.T. looked at her and grinned to cover up her brief moment of embarrassment. "Comfort food huh?" C.T. asked and Kat eyed her, chewing quickly and smiling, wiping her mouth before speaking "What's that supposed to mean?" Kat asked. C.T. shrugged. "You eating to get over the loss you suffered?" C.T. asked, and Kat gave her a look. "You mean our tie?" She corrected, as if daring C.T. to say something different. "Oh right, I'd forgotten." C.T. said with a shrug. Kat held her gaze for a moment before shaking her head laughing, C.T. joined her in laughing as well. "You girlfriend really is a bit of a bully." Kat said to Esther, and C.T. shrugged and went back to eating.

"Nah, she's just like you. Tereshchenko's are like that." Elric spoke up.

Esther groaned dramatically and buried her face in her hands when Elric spoke. "What did I get myself into..." she murmured with a shake of her head, feigning mild exasperation.

Kia reached across the table and patted Esther's shoulder sympathetically, causing the blonde to uncover her eyes. "There, there, Etsy," she soothed. Then she added in a whisper, leaning in and covering the side of her mouth that faced the others as if that would really mask her words, "Y'know, it's not too late to back out--"

Kat smacked Kia on the arm. "Don't comfort her!" she said. "She brought this upon herself. And besides, I'm sure her family isn't perfect, either."

Esther's laugh was abrupt, although not entirely full of humor. "That's an understatement," she mused dryly.

"Well, there you go." Kat folded her arms across her chest and stuck her nose into the air. "You're just gonna have to deal with the ways of the Tereschenkos."

"Okay, okay, everyone finish their pizza so we can go home," Elric interrupted. "Unless," he added, turning to C.T., "there's something else you want to do before we head back. This is your hometown, after all, we could... take a tour of it or something, I guess."

"There's nothing to see around here but the rec center." Kia said folding her arms behind her head and leaning back in her chair with a sigh.

"Only the center? Seems kind of bland." C.T. said, wondering if Kia was telling the whole truth or if she was just being dramatic, the latter seemed a bit more believable "There's a bit more than that, the lake that we all fish and swim in from time to time, and there is a paintball field at the edge of town." Elric said, and Kia made a bit of a sound of enlightenment. "I forgot about that." She said nodding. "We haven't been in a while." Kat concluded nodding as well. C.T. for the life of her was just furrowing her brow trying to figure out what the hell paintball was... she'd ask Esther later.

"Speaking of the center," Kat spoke up, C.T. looked up at her sister who was looking at Esther. "I offered your girlfriend a job, and her response was," Kat made sure to look at C.T. out of the corner of her eye while she continued. "I have to ask Esther first." She said in a mocking tone. "I said that because it would require moving." C.T. said giving her sister a glare. "And it would be more than just us moving, I asked you how many spots you had for a reason, a lot of the guys back at the warehouse need something to do." C.T. stressed trying to explain that it wasn't something she could decide on her own.

"Whatever, just ask her." Kat urged and C.T. rolled her eyes. "After you already spoiled the subject, I don't think I need to word a question for her." C.T. said with a sigh. "Ask her." Kat said again, mimicking C.T. and rolling her eyes as well. "What do you think Esther?"

                  "What do you think, Esther?"

Esther shifted uncomfortably in her seat. She felt like she had been put on the spot. Even if C.T. didn't expect the matter to be decided for certain right in this second, Kat seemed to, and that made Esther a little anxious. True, Esther had been the one to bring up moving here before, and she still thought it was a good idea, but C.T. had been hesitant. It was for that reason that she wished they could talk about the subject in private before giving Kat potentially false hope--and a reason to further pester her sister. Something told Esther C.T. might not be so sure about moving here if the others at the warehouse expressed hesitance or refused. She wasn't upset with C.T., though; this conversation hadn't been her doing.

Kat was staring at her expectantly. Esther sat on her hands, relaxing a little, and nodded. "I think it's a good idea," she said finally with a smile. Kat perked up. "But C.T.'s right," Esther continued. "This decision involves more than just the two of us. We'll have to bring it up with the people C.T.'s got in mind and go from there."

Kat's grin drooped and she groaned, annoyed. "They've got lives of their own, though," she pointed out. "Your guys' decision doesn't need to be dependent on their coming here."

Esther shook her head. "It's not as simple as that."

"I'm like a mother to them." C.T. said slowly. She didn't really like using the term "Mother" it seemed it bit weird, but she had to throw it out so that Kat and the others would understand. "I can't just abandon them now, when they have no one else to turn to, they don't have a family to go home to, like some of us do." C.T. said, not exactly trying to make Kat feel bad for her assumptions, but just letting her know that even though C.T. was here, laughing and having fun with them. That she and they were from two, very different worlds, and her world was just not something she could understand.

"I didn't mean anything by it." Kat said suddenly, and C.T. nodded. "I don't think you did, but you understand now why I can't just commit to something impulsively." C.T. said, she regretted being so rough in her wording, but she had a way to try and make up for it. She smiled at her sister in a defusing way. "But, you can always try and convince the other when you guys come and visit right?"

Kat's face lit up at that, and she eagerly nodded her approval. She was already thinking about what she would say, how she would try to convince them, so that she would be prepared when the time actually arrived. When she was done with them, she hoped, they wouldn't want to be anywhere else.

"Alright," Elric said, cleaning up. "Let's head home."

When they reached the house, Katja was waiting for them. The twins were playing in the back with their father. "So? How did it go?" Katja asked as the kids entered the house, smiling. "Who won?"

Kat scrunched her face slightly. "It was a tie."

"Oh?" Katja's brows rose. Well, that sounded like a good thing to her; with as competitive as her girls were, this actually seemed like the best outcome possible. No losers... and no winners necessarily, either, but she wasn't going to let them dwell on that. "Congratulations to the both of you." She hugged each of her children as the walked in, and gave C.T. an especially tight embrace and a kiss on the top of her head. She had a lot of lost time to make up for, after all.

"Thank you," C.T. said pausing slightly when Katja wrapped her up in a hug "Mother." She tried, now feeling awkward because of what Elric had said in the pizzeria, but she felt encouraged by the way Katja beamed when she said the words. As if Connie calling her "mother" just made her feel all kinds of warm on the inside. Connie would continue to call her such if this was the reaction she would have to it every time. She liked seeing the woman happy.

"Momma, Connie said we can go visit her other family out at the warehouse." Kia spoke up excitedly, from behind Katja, C.T. shot the girl a playful look and held up a finger to her lips when Katja turned around trying to shush the girl Kia noticed and giggled, prompting Katja to look towards C.T. who hid her hands behind her back and looked off to the sides. "My, how quickly they've corrupted you." Katja tsked before turning back to Kia. "Did Connie also promise that you guys would be well taken care of down there?" Katja asked, and Kia shrugged. "They are my siblings, my friends at the warehouse know better."

"I don't think I like how that sounds," Katja said frowning. "Are you bullying those poor kids?" She continued, and C.T. shook her head quickly. "No Ma'am, I've never bullied anyone in my life." She said quickly. Katja smiled suddenly, and looked towards Esther. "Esther dear, is that true? Is Connie as innocent as she claims?"

Esther stiffened and sent a sideways glance to C.T. Hmm, how honest should she be? And how high was the likelihood that she would be forced to sleep on the floor if C.T. didn't like her answer? "Uh," Esther fumbled, looking at Katja. Then she said with a smile--all the while shaking her head and contradicting the words coming out of her mouth--"Of course. It's 100% true."

Kia giggled, and Katja hummed in mock-scolding as she turned to her oldest daughter. "Well, I'm not going to make any promises," she said, addressing all of her children. "But Connie and I will talk about it."

"Momma," Kia said, "if we go, we should bring them some of your apple pie!"

Katja tapped her chin in thought, seeming slightly skeptical. "That seems like an awful lot of pie, my love."

Kia shrugged, appearing completely unphased by this fact. Hey, she wasn't making it, so why should she care? As Esther, who was practically foaming at the mouth at the mention of pie, began to strike a conversation with Katja about food, Kia walked over to C.T. and tugged on her sleeve. Her demeanor had changed pretty drastically; she seemed nervous now. "Hey, can I talk to you for a sec?"

C.T. felt that she might have a bit of a problem when she saw that Esther hesitated in proving her innocence. Though Esther did at least say what she wanted her too, but there was a small problem with Esther’s statement in that the girls head didn’t agree with her mouth. C.T. narrowed her eyes at her girlfriend. ”Traitor.” She whispered to the girl playfully shaking her head, she should have known that Esther would have told Katja, Esther had taken a liking to the woman and she wasn’t the type to lie. Though C.T. would retain that she wasn’t really a bully.

At least she didn’t get into any trouble, which was a weird thing to think about, she hadn’t had to think about someone being angry at her since she had been Jacob’s pet, and maybe that time she had left Esther to go face Bradley by herself. A decision she regretted deeply, she had never wanted to test the bonds of her relationship with Esther so soon, but she had, and she was really lucky that she hadn’t ran the girl away with her own foolishness. Though what happened, happened and there no use in thinking about it now.

Her mother was going to at least think about letting her siblings come out to the warehouse so that was a start at least, and maybe when they talked about it later and C.T. explained how this could be a bit of a rehabilitation for her other family, her mother would fully come over to their side of things. And maybe the pie would help. Pie being a dish that C.T. was familiar with though hadn’t really had much of in her life, for obvious reasons. As her mother and girlfriend started speaking about food C.T. just planned to stand to the side and listen, but Kia suddenly speaking to her in a nervous tone, asking if she could talk for a moment. C.T. gave a bit of a shrug and stepped to the side with Kia, not sure what this conversation may be about. “So, what’s up?”

Kia nodded toward the front door, signaling she wanted to go outside, then took C.T.'s arm and headed that way. When Katja seemed too invested in her conversation with Esther and, now, Kat to really notice or be suspicious. Once outside, Kia turned to her sister and began wringing her hands. "So, I've already kinda talked to Esther about this," she started. "But, uh... I didn't give her any details. I figured maybe I could talk to you about it. Like, sister bonding or something." She was stalling a little now, even though she wasn't exactly afraid. This just wasn't something she had discussed openly before. "So, there's, uh, this girl at school that... that I like. And I wasn't sure, like, what to do about it." Kia chewed her lip. She seemed to be trying to form some kind of question, though apparently wasn't sure how to word it.

C.T.'s eyes glazed over when Kia asked her question, she was already thinking that maybe it would have served the girl better to ask Esther, because C.T. had no idea how to court a girl, her and Esther just sort of happened. But when she looked at her sisters face, she couldn't just tell her that. The girl was coming to her for help she had to help her. "Well, the first step would be at least making sure that the two of you are friends. If you don't already like each other on a certain level." C.T. said, oddly the older girl didn't even note that Kia having feelings for another girl, something that wasn't really that common, but being gay herself it didn't really shock her the way it could have. "You are close to this girl right?"

Oh. Right. That made sense. Kia nodded, although she seemed a little unsure. "I mean, I wouldn't say we're, like, closeclose," she said. "But we worked on a group project once, and she sits next to me in class, so we talk sometimes." Maybe even that was a bit of a stretch. But they weren't strangers, so that was a good thing at least, right? "So should I ask her to hang out maybe first?" Kia asked C.T. Although the subject matter was still pretty new to her, she was slowly but steadily losing her earlier nervousness. Now she seemed more determined than anything, and this reflected in her posture and the way she crossed her arms in thought. "I could ask her if she wants to see a movie or something. That's not obvious, right?"

"Yes, asking her to hang out would be a start, but the key is to be subtle." C.T. said with a nod. "Don't want to come on too strong, she might get offended, however," C.T. said thoughtfully tapping her chin in thought as she pondered her words. "Maybe you want to give her a few tells. Let her know that you are interested in a little more than just a normal friendship, and just gauge her reaction. That way if things don't look to good, you can always just fall back to being friends without making things to awkward." C.T. said, she began thinking of ways that Kia could show the girl what she was aiming for, but was coming up blank so far, she wasn't so good at this after all. "However a movie is a good idea."
