There were more steps to climb. She needed to keep on moving. If only she could summon up that thirst for revenge she'd felt so often before? Instead of just fear: fear that at the top of that tower, she would lose everything she had ever known, all because it was someone's dream.
She deserved to have her own dream, didn't she?

Olivia could feel the tears welling up again as she rushed up the final few flights of stairs. They had left her, was all she could think of as she rushed to the doors.
She could hear the Voice again, but she ignored him. He was cruel and she didn't want to hear another word he said to her. As he felt betrayed by his lot, she felt betrayed by him for doing all of this to them for all his petty reasons.

The sudden break in silence as the Voice was in her mind just about sent Fini tumbling back down the stairs. Oh the Voice was pissy, was it? She scowled upwards, flipping said Voice with a certain hand gesture.
Take that one and shove it!

Carhop Cavalier Gene kept climbing, and climbing, and climbing until the Voice broke into her head.
"You dare take the powers of the others, when I created you, gave you purposed, and promised you a Kingdom. You dare raise your punitive claws against me? Even reforged you will never be on the same level that I am."
She furrowed her brow and continued to climb, responding with her own thoughts - even if the Voice couldn't her her.
No. She smirked. I'm far above your level. I don't see people as playthings or tools to be used for my personal gain. People are people, and deserve love and respect.

Staring up to the door he reads, 'To enter, sacrifice all that you hear'. His hearing? He wouldn't be able to hear. Spinar hesitated at the door then pushed it open. Nothing was going to stop him, not this, not anyone or anything or any lost sense! Hustling up a series of stairs that seem to wind upwards forever he has no comfort in his own footsteps just the infinite silence and the sights of those he passes.
At least he could still feel, the shake of the stairs jars him to press faster as does the horrible feel of something ominous lurking up head. But none of it mattered anymore all he had to do was keep moving the urge kept him on the stairs and cautiously moving even with the shakes.

Hesitation. She had promised herself never again would she hesitate. As she watched Zel retreat further up the stairs, she suddenly found a burst of that energy that had powered her revenge, and ran as fast as she could.
As he waved to her, she waved back, and even squeezed his shoulder if she could as she ran past him. They made it to the top of the stairs, both of them. Amarus smiled at him, again, and leaned in for a second.
But they weren't done yet; no time to rest.

Again the voice spoke, but this time, Zel just gestured both times with his hands in a quite impolite manner in the direction of the roof, before shaking his head. He moved through the door then, into the next part of the tower, turning as he went to see if he could spot his love. (( Exiting! ))

Amarus would have laughed, if she were able to make any sound: he was apparently fairly irate at the Voice, which she could understand.
But unlike her, he seemed not to be afraid. Not of the Voice, no; she wasn't afraid of it in the least. If it was something to be feared, it wouldn't need to keep threatening them. It wouldn't need to keep them down. It wouldn't need to play these childish games.
She was afraid of her other self. The one that could replace her, if this dream ended.

This time she did jump as she saw the end of the stairs coming... and a door. Her shoulder hit the wall and thankfully no one could hear the curse that came out of her mouth. It was the Voice again. Brooding, it sounded like. And Fini just didn't care. Nope. She'd care when she had something she could physically see and kick it's a**. Especially after these goddamn stairs!

Spinar paused and almost slapped a palm to his forehead. Of course. Though he wasn't able to hear the things he wanted to he was able to hear the one thing he didn't give two cents about hearing. The Voice. Spinar wrinkled his nose in diastase and smirked wider as the Voice's tone hinted its displeasure with him. For a moment he wondered if he should give it the satisfaction of talking about. No, it was prideful right? To ignore it would hurt it worse. Spinar smirked and laughed even if he couldn't hear it before pressing on up the stairs.
