Kiera was there, sitting down cross-legged in the newly mowed grass. And who other happened to be there than her mother, Amelie, sitting right next to her also with crossed legs. They were laughing of all things, and Kiera so much that she pushed Amelie over on her side. This was a one in a million sight. To see them two, in secret, getting along like a proper mother and daughter. Neither of them noticed Shortstraw behind them, and they continued chatting and gossiping.

*He stopped and smiled. He didn't want to calse to end this moment. And so he turned aorund and put is hands into his pockets. 'Dinner when you have time Ms Keria... If you can here me' he thought to her. He figured she wouldn't know he was near by or not. And so he made his way back into the house and walked into the kitchen. There Veria slapped him as he entered. She crossed her arms and looked away, "You didn't tell me." she replied.*

Asher stepped in between Shortstraw and Veira, snarling at her very presence. "Don't you dare hurt Shortstraw, serpent girl. He didn't tell you because he rightly assumed you didn't care. You made fun of Miss Hikari's food earlier. So what right have you got to be informed? None." Asher began to hiss, which turned into a high growl.
After some bantering and laughing, Kiera laid back and chuckled a little. "I suppose we better make our way back home to go to that dinner your sister was so intent on lifting peoples spirits with." Amelie looked to her with bewildered eyes. "You knew about this?" Kiera nodded, looking smug. "Reading minds isn't something i control any more." Amelie sneered. "I bet you get the headaches bad." Kiera nodded again. "Oh yeah. So bad."

*Shorstraw looked to asher, and so did Veria. The two of them just stared. Why was Asher, the demon the didn't care for any of it really, seem to take shorstraws side all of a sudden. Even shorstraw didn't belive it and saw it as a act. Veria pouted and pointed, "no fair your not suppost to have the kitty too! I picked it first, i get the first kitten!" Shortstraw burst out and laughed, "Ms Veria. I didn't tell you becuse it wouldn't make you happy to be there." Veria made a shy face, "i would if i got to sit next to shorystraw." she replied cutly. He looked to her and finally understood somthing as it cllicked in his brain for the first time. He liturly facepalmed. She smiled, "i'll see you there shorty strawy!" she replied excidently hugging him and running off, "sorry about our fight." As she left, he looked to asher, "so you been around here hidden and watching everything for the past few hours huh." he crossed his arms, "why take my side all of a sudden." He was confussed honistly. However he knew this one had to be a act.*

Asher shuddered at Veria's departure, and as she turned slowly to face Shortstraw she shifted back into her cute cat form. "Well someones got to look after you whike master is out. And she'd kil me if she found out i'd just let you get mauled by a little girl." She snickered. "Besides. We still have a deal. And I still have to protect you from Veira and be your mount."

*He staired at her.* "So your saying i can trust you." He made a face, "i want too belive that but if you didn't honer the deal, what makes proof you would honer the rest of it. I'm still alittle down on the betryal. I belived in you. And you let me down." He confessed sadly picking her up carfully.*

Asher purred slighty. "I'm not asking you to trust me. In fact I reconmend you do not. All I'm saying is that no matter the devious ways of a demon before a contract is sealed, we always come through with our promises and sides of the deal. Or It's as I said before. There's concequences for people who don't follow through."

*He still wanted to argue it* "but you already screwed me ont he deal. So how is that doing your part. Ifyou warned me i would have still made the deal, but i trusted you anyways. I didn't want to make a deal with you for anything other then to have a cool freind." He sat her down on the counter, "right nows not th best time to talk about this. We're going to have a big family dinner to cheere everyone up..." he made a smile. However she may have been able to see though it. thre was some sarrow. he was feeling betrayed still. And now he was thinking about it again. He turned, 'besides i'm waiting for ms Hikari to meet me back here again." He replied happiliy.*

Àsher shrugged her small shoulders. "Suit yourself.although There no use crying over spilled milk. It doesn't change anything." And with that Asher was gone again, serving her moment of justice for a second before disappearing off to wherever demons of her kind went. Hikari came into the kitchen at that moment, looking a little flustered. "You alright shortstraw?" There wasn't much she didn't notice. Although this was almost a retorical question as she scurried over to the cooling dinner and checked it was still hot. "I made sure the rest of them were coming~" She said proudly.

*He nodded* "yea i'm fine. I think ameile and keria might come too. I sorta told them both... but... eh we will see." He winked and smiled, "Actully Ms Hikari there is something that has been sorts bothing me." He replied letting his smile drop. "I made a decistion to help keria in some way and in return i gave somthing important way. And i got screwed. I just wanted to have a freind i could trust to always be there when i called. I guess i may have done it now becuse i wanted to be like you and yuji used to be. You always had his back, and he as a master always had yours. Though i did it over terms, and i think i major screwed up..." he replied sadly. "what should i do?" He looked up to her. he figured she would be the one to ask. Yuji and keria would just say they told him so. However he was now afrade. Afrade he may have lost somthing important that he had and didn't know he had yet.*

Hikari raised an eyebrow at shortstraw, then put her oven mitts on. "I supose you're talking about a deal between you and the daemon Asher?" She shook her head. "If you're looking for a companion like I was to Yuji, then think about it logically, you were looking for it in the most devious creatures on earth." She smiled however, pointing a mitt at him. "Although you shouldn't loose spirits! Mistakes are a part of what makes us stronger as we grow. No one is powerful without them. The only way to get respect from something like Asher is to not be a wimp towards it." She smiled more. "Can you be stronger for me?"

*He shied* "It's hard to be stronger aginst he while iknow she could probably end me right there. When i try to be tough to her... i feel like my insides are dropping out of me, like there draining. I figured i woudl give her a chance no one else would, so maby she would change just enough to maybe be a freind back youknow. I chose to try and make Asher my compaion becuse no one else would. And that sorta has t hurt alittle right. So I'm not sure being stronger agins ther is as esay as that. i want to say i would for you Ms Hikari, but... I just don't feel it inside. I'm ot scared, but at the same time... i feel rejected."

Hikari looke seriously to shortstraw then sat cross-legged right in front of him. "Rejected?! Shortstraw, deviousness and toil is all part of a daily routine in something like Asher's life. Even it that didn't work out like you hoped it to you still have everyone else! Me and Kiera and Eve surely will never reject you. And even Veira has some strange affinity for you. So don't just stand There and say you feel rejected when we're going to be standing There ready to catch you if you fall." She smiled happily, messing up his hair. " 'Kay?"

IShorstraw laughed, "that wasn't what i ment, but okay i guess i'll let that go. Your right." He smiled happily, "i think other then then that things have been going well latly other then... well you know, Mr Yuji and all..." he shrugged, "but hey big dinner yay!" Infact he didn't knwo it but thsi would be the first big dinner he didn't plan, nor be a part of. Thiw oudl be there first time without him.*

Amelie trailed through the door, maintaining her scowling face just to avoid any suspicions. She even held some bread in her hand as a nice cover up. As she walked into the kitchen she threw the bread over to Hikari and she caught it willingly. "Don't say thankyou." Amelie simply said, before leavning the room once more. Kiera came through the front door next, her face smug yet sultry as always. She sauntered into the kitchen and sat on the counter. "So whats for dinner then auntie?" Hikari raised an eyebrow at Kiera calling her auntie, but continued to answer anyway. "Shepherds pie." Kiera cocked her head. "Never heard of it." Hikari smiled. "It's just meat and vegetables and potato and sauce all mashed up, really."
